Grant Denyer is doing three hours today on the corkscrew, is this any where near it?
Nope! In 1992 SeaFM set the record for the Corkscrew with 110 consecutive revolutions, stopping only for the mandatory harness safety check on each pass. I was lucky enough to be participate in this event. The record only lasted 1 year however, when the volunteer Southport Air Sea Rescue (now Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport) staged a fund raiser on the 10 Sept 1993 and set a new record of 120, raising $15,000 in the process. If I remember correctly, the 120 revolutions took us around the 4 hour mark. (I say us, as I ran this event being a Snr. Rescue Skipper with ASR/VMR) I would love to know if this record has ever been broken. I have tried to find out in the past, but never had any luck. We did ask Seaworld some years later, if we could set a new record as another fund raiser, but they declined due to safety concerns. So perhaps there has not been any other records set since? It would be nice to still be the record holder, but I don't fancy my chances. ;)

I remember about ten years go a Brisbane radio station did a stunt with the last on left on the thunderbolt won. It lasted for a week and the contestants also had to sleep on the thunderbolt. The contestants only got off the ride for 15min a day to go to the toilet and shower. I think it was called ride to you hurl.
