Hello all,

My wife and I are heading to Dreamworld in the first week of March, 2008 and were looking into the Tiger Island photo experience. We found that it costs $495 and that is the set price for up to 4 people. I have contacted Dreamworld about maybe getting a lower price because it is only myself and my wife doing it and they have told me flat out, NO! We have both always wanted to cuddle some tigers so this experience would be fantastic but the price is way too much.

I was wondering if maybe there is another couple heading up there about the same time who would be interested in splitting the cost with us so we can get 4 people in the group to do it and only have to pay half each. If there is someone out there interested, please send me a message or reply to this post.

The sooner the better because I will need to book the photo times with Dreamworld asap.

Regards,

G-Man

It is one of the most overpriced part of dreamworld and they are making so much profit, are you sure theres no packages where you can just get the photo and not the experience?

You can still cuddle them in the photo

Bizzare as it may seem, Dreamworld actually doesnt profit much out of the Tiger Photo Bookings at all. A significant amount of the money gets put into accounts and is used to fund several Tiger Conservation organisations and Projects all over the world. Money is also used to pay for the Photographics Prints and Frame (Which isnt really cheap) and The tiger island book (which.. I know can be bought in the shop for like 6.95). So yeh, when they are donating around $20,000 on Average, every six months to ONE organisation, as well as several other projects, the money has to come from somewhere and doesnt go too far.

End Rant.

That is rather an extreme price for 1 hour with the Tigers, even if the money is donated to the Tiger Conservation fund. For that price, I would expect that you get 2 hours with the Tigers, or 1 hour with the Tigers, and entry, or atleast discounted entry into Dreamworld afterwards.

I know, i wasnt disputing that. Only the comment that Dreamworld is profiting a lot out of it.
And $495 is only for the photo session, which is a 15 min experience. The 1 hour walk is $795. So even less value.

You honestly don't think Dreamworld is making a very tidy profit out of this? I'd assure you that the price being charged isn't remotely tied to covering costs, it's simply because there are people out there willing to pay this much. This is a premium product of which there is a very limited supply. On a daily basis Dreamworld prints hundreds, if not thousands of photos throughout the park; their cost per print would be in cents.

I wouldn't expect any more than 10% of the total cost is going to charity. It's great that they are donating a portion to relevant charities, but remember that Dreamworld isn't one; their interest is in making money.

Atleast someone agrees with me
Companies do not open any type of premium attraction without getting profit, or it would be closed!

They are obviously making some profit out of it, and I never said anything against that idea. I dont believe it is as much as most would expect. Individual departments in most cases would be funding themselves, and as the Tiger experiences are a tiger island product, presumably it is going to them.

With the photos in mind, yes, they do print hundreds (or thousands) of photos on a daily basis, and the cost would be in cents, I was merely adding that into the mix. Tiger photos arent printed on the same system as ride photos though, so its a different pricing system. (Still, doesnt cost a lot though..)
