New here. I am also a sports fan, Ess short for Essendon just so you don't have to ask.
This is my first theme park forum. I love roller-coasters and theme parks in general.
Favourite Park: Dreamworld
Favourite Ride: The Claw
Favourite Coaster: Tower of Terror.

I am very much looking forward to going to the Gold Coast in June so I thought I would join the forums after looking info up about Sea World here a while back.

Good to be here wink.gif

Welcome to the forums, i aint sure why no one has giving you the run down on how to post like using proper english, and no msn language, on this thread yet, but the actual park forums are morre active than "all the rest" but welcome anyway!
Spencer
What a warm welcome JD_bunnies_supporter smile.gif lol.

Welcome Ess-93, it is great to have new members here to talk about theme parks. The boards have been rather quiet lately due to a shortage of posters. But I am sure we can all make the experience worthwhile.

Greetings, and have a fun time here at Parkz.com smile.gif

Best Regards

Probably because his post was well constructed, using proper english and without chat shorthand. I'm not sure "ain't" falls into that category however.
I recall when I joined, I was instructed to read the community guidelines. Not sure if that still happens?

Welcome Ess-93. Enjoy your time, and I hope we're able to help you plan your trip.

I like your picture of the old tower of terror queue entrance. I have tried to look for pictures when it first opened and can never find them.

You asked for it smile.gif
PS JD_bunnies_supporter, start using proper English.

Well, truth be told, if somebody keeps making really bad posts we'll just delete them, rather than try and convince them to quit posting like an 11 year old.
AlexB
Actually Gazza, I meant the registration system told me to read them, not a forum member or (at that stage) the only moderator - Richard... like it was part of the registration process.

Probably needs to go into the site issues (etc) area - but a lot of other forums I visit have a sticky attached to the top of the forum that contains all the generally acceptable behaviours, posts etc, and as it normally shows up on any search or parent-thread, it's kind of hard to miss.

I do like the delete idea, however i'm sure there'd be a few people here today (long term) that wouldn't be if we did that from the total thrills days! lol (shall remain nameless to protect the guilty.)
Spencer
Moderators,

Instead of deleting the complete posts, how about urging somebody to modify it? Unless they are utterly offensive of course.

Just an idea that I think may be more suitable, as even in the posts with the worst Grammar can still have valuable information and interest.

But I do respect your opinions regardless, if somebody can't take the time to succesfully write out a comment. Then the member should re-write it.

Just another thought smile.gif

Best Regards

Moderators,.....

So you're saying that instead of the poster being responsible to write correctly the moderators should waste their own time correcting everything?

So if I posted:

"LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOMGOMGOMGLOL like dreamWoRlD like totally got sum new stuf happening 2010 like a redo of one of there rides"

The moderators should change it to

"Dreamworld has decided to revamp the TOT in 2010" instead of just deleting it? If people just took the time to read what they have written it wouldn't be a problem. Look at it this way, being a member of these (or any) forums is not a right. If users cannot abide by the rules, there is no reason they should be allowed to stay around and drag down the quality of the forum.

Has this whole argument started because i put "aint" in my post?!?
Gazza
No, it was because your post was full of other errors.
Spencer
I basically said URGE people to fix their own posts when informed. You need to test your reading comprehension next time buddy smile.gif

I will no longer add to this argument, I have offered MY opinion.

Or another post of yours:
QUOTE
ahh rite, i see, so its like u work whenever u want really. is that ur main job? or is it just a part time/ casual job for u?

It should read:
QUOTE
Ahh right, I see, so it's like you work whenever you want really. Is that your main job? Or is it just a part time/casual job for you?

Woah, things have gotten a bit sidetracked haven't they?
joz
The last thing to have been deleted was the stuff from the star tours thread. The reason for that is because there is no need to bump an active thread, and everything after the bump was uninteresting anyway. Apart from that, the last thing that wasn't spam that we deleted was posted on Jan 13.

I'm not going to urge individuals to post properly, as that is up to the them, we're not here to hold people's hand while they make a post. Even so, we don't expect perfection, and if you've got something interesting to say, then say it. We'd rather interesting conversation with a couple of spelling mistakes here and there than no conversation at all. Basically what I'm saying is don't be lazy when you post and you'll do fine. We aren't spelling Nazis, but if your post if bordering on unreadable or it's utterly pointless then there's a fair chance it'll be deleted.

BTW, welcome to the forums Ess93 smile.gif

Is saying "u" instead of "you" that important to you mate? and even having capital letters after a question mark, come on, if this worries you so much, fix up everyones posts on these forums then will you? You go back and find one of my posts from a week ago, just to have a go at me? im not on here to make enemies, everyone is on these forums for the same reason, and i dont believe that any post i have ever written, that someone couldnt understand what I have typed, whether i used u or you, or i didnt use capital letters.
Gazza
^Well mate, you were the one to bring up the issue of proper English in this thread, and you were the one who wanted to know what the errors in your post were, I was just stating the facts since you asked. I wouldn't have said anything otherwise.

Besides, the rules you agreed to by making an account said; http://www.parkz.com.au/about/FAQ/Community-Guidelines.html

Spelling, punctuation and grammar should be correct and proper at all times.
Take the necessary time to properly form your posts, because if they are not up to standard they may be deleted. Many Browsers these days have built-in spell checkers so there is no excuse for not making the effort.
6#
Chat shorthand is not permitted at any time.
The Parkz Forums are not a strictly real time discussion environment such as chat rooms. Here you have time to properly construct your thoughts into full and meaningful sentences.

Those are the rules, I didn't write them, but still people should follow them.
We don't care if people use shortenings like 'WBMW' instead of 'Warner Bros. Movie World' since that is obviously a decent abbreviation because the phrase is very long. But writing 'rite' instead of 'right' or 'u' instead of 'you' is pointless, isn't it?

I mean, as Joz said we aren't going to go around being Nazi's about it, but I mean its not like its any harder to spell correctly is it? Writing properly also makes you seem a bit more respectable.

And as a side note, yes you should put a capital letter after a question mark because it's starting a new sentence, same goes for an exclamation mark....Just saying.

Cheers for the tip mate, I wish I knew that when I did Year 12 English last year...
