Went to a bunch of old Perth theme parks and attractions today.

Headed off to the southwest of Perth and visited Pioneer Village, Elizabethan Village and the Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Sanctuary (which is still operating). Pioneer Village is used as a school as well as stores, restaurants and churches. It has a real theme park feel to the place. Elizabethan Village is a pub and a micro brewery. Both are very pretty and well looked after.

On the way home I had lunch in Scarborough and spotted the old Luna Park sign.

I might have raised this before in the past, but I have a feeling Cyclone's on its way out. I mean it was left untouched after the big Ocean Parade refurb last year- the only Big Thrill Ride in that area that wasn't refreshed such as the massive Wipeout refurb or Claw repaint. It also isn't very popular- nowhere as much as it used to be a decade ago.

The Nov maintenance for Cyclone is taking a whole month- this is quite a long period.

I'm suggesting they are getting rid of Cyclone within the next year or so. Thunderbolt operated for 21 years... Cyclone is turning 20 this year.

And another thing the on ride photos don't work.

While Cyclone (or the Big Dipper as I know it) has definitely seen better days and is the roughest coaster on the GC I'd say it'll be around for awhile longer at DW as the logistics alone of dismantling it while it snakes around the TOH tower at WWW would impact both parks (although prob more WWW than DW) and didn't DW say another attraction was getting a makeover which could very well be Cyclone although prob more likely the flume or TRR

They'll probably just leave it SBNO since dismantling it is another story. I really think they should give the ride a repaint, perhaps a new train and maybe a Wipeout-style refurb but that will be unlikely since their finished with the Ocean Parade area and focusing on the Gold rush area, rumoured Eureka opening and all.

The fact it was left untouched may be linking to its future closure.

Anyone else get reminded of Knotts from these photos?
