The Parkz Update: Wet 'n' Wild October 2012

Better late than never, we've got pics of the new Constrictor and the changes at Aqualoop.

Constrictor

After a few years of waiting, the spiritual replacement of Terror Canyon is open; Constrictor.
The ride entrance...If the queue is out to here expect a 50 minute wait.
The park map posters around the park have been updated to include Constrictor.
Just like Terror Canyon, the ride concludes with a big drop to the splashdown.
Some new artificial rockwork was constructed as a continutation of what was pre-existing.
At the time of opening, some fencing around the ride was yet to be completed.
The main selling point of the ride is its "constricting" spirals. There are 3 all together on the way down.
The old pipework feeding Terror Canyon has been recycled, resulting in some 'interesting' direction changes.
On each of the spirals the slide flares out to become wider, but at the same time completes the spiral very tightly. When you ride this forces the raft to whip around the spiral, riding up on the wall.
First and second spirals.
First and second spirals, looking up the hill. We're guessing the new fencing seen on the left will be done on the right.
The 3rd and final spiral before the splashdown is dug into the ground.

You can see how Constrictor stands out in the skyline at the Southern end of the park.

Aqualoop Changes

Aqualoop opened over 2 years ago, but has undergone a few changes recently.
Notably, the smaller "AquaDrop" slide has been totally removed!Did this ever operate?
Riders on Aqualoop are now required to wear "aquapacks". They're made of foam, with hard plastic on the side that touches the side. Aparently they reduce the amount of times people stall out at the bottom of the slide, and protect your back from the slide suface.
Some new signage.
That face.
While we were in the area we got some nice shots of the maturing area.
Kinda looks like an infinity loop
This slide looks Dry 'n' Dusty rather than Wet 'n' Wild
One thing we noticed is that the enclosed slides don't rough up your back like they used to...much smoother.
Like Movie World and Sea World, Wet n Wild now has a continental BBQ hut.
Mammoth falls was closed at the time of our visit.
The pool was being resurfaced.

That concludes this edition of the Parkz Update. Constrictor is well worth checking out, but like any new ride, try and get on early!
