Sea World Brings the Magic of Sesame Street to the Gold Coast!

Australia's very first Sesame Street attraction opened on Saturday 29 September at Sea World on the Gold Coast.

The new multi million dollar attraction features a host of rides, shows and attractions to entertain the young and old alike.

Sesame Street Beach includes newly themed rides such as Bert and Ernie's Big Dive; Oscar's Sweep the Beach; Elmo's Sea Safari; Big Bird Bouncer; Zoe's Sub Splash; and The Cookie Monster Cup Carousel. It will also be home to everybody's favourite friends including Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Zoe, Grover, Cookie Monster and Elmo.

As well as some amazing rides to enjoy, guests can also experience a brand new live stage show Bert and Ernie's Island Holiday! featuring a full cast of characters singing and dancing up a storm.

Chief Executive Officer for Warner Village Theme Parks, Mr John Menzies said that Sesame Street was chosen because it complemented Sea World's aim to educate through entertainment.

"Sea World is the number one theme park for Australian pre-school aged children, so it was important for us to choose a brand that would fit with our philosophies but would also appeal to that age group.

"Sesame Street's educational background was one of the deciding factors, it is the largest educator of children worldwide, broadcasts to 120 countries, and has won 107 Emmy Awards", He said.

"Sesame Street is a perfect fit for Sea World; it's an 'evergreen' brand. It's something we all grew up with and yet is still relevant to today's kids. The launch of Sesame Street Beach is an exciting time for Sea World."

Mr Menzies said that this new venture was also another example of Sea World's ever growing commitment to Gold Coast Tourism.

"The Gold Coast's position as the entertainment capital of Australia is largely supported by our development and marketing of new attractions," He said.

"Each year, Sea World and our other attractions like Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet'n'Wild Water World spend tens of millions of dollars to keep tourists coming back for a fresh experience."

"The benefits to the local economy are enormous, creating jobs and contributing significantly through taxes and rates which go back to the community", He said.

Sesame Street Beach is a fun and educational experience for the whole family.
