Yeah but some kids are going to be turned off by the very thought of roller coasters, even ones that don’t go upside down. Flight of the wicked witch might be too intimidating to some people who might otherwise go on west. Not all family attractions should be roller coasters, you need a mix, village has gone a bit too far into the roller coaster rabbit hole Ur comment has been answered to in detail already but the Lego movie and barbie isn’t going to be at movie world anytime soon for obvious reasons. Legoland exists and Mattel is getting into theme parks now. Don’t know the specifics of whatever contract village has signed but it’s most likely for specific movies as opposed to the entire library (for instance WB own the rights to the Harry Potter movies but of course the rights to that are with universal). Most likely DC Hanna barbera and looney tunes in their entirety are already covered. Honestly had no idea that adults could ride JDS as I thought the vehicles would be physically too small for them to go on. Probably highlights my ignorance of that specific ride as I’ve never been on it. As a concept I do agree it hits the nail on the head for kids (what kid wouldn’t want to go on little cars and drive around a street) but I thought it was a strictly kids only experience (that takes up a lot of real estate)

King Claw - Larger Replacement Intamin Gyro Swing for Dreamworld
Ash replied to Tricoart's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yep and the King Claw sign has arrived, dreamworld just added a teaser on their FB page -
Please take a breath and try paragraphs lifetime family passes are a huge prize and probably more than they'd ever likely wish to do. free day passes or annual passes would be about the limit of their generosity surveying guests on what they want is fine, you can be guided by that, but it isn't going to be a case of simply 'build whatever people say is the most popular... why? because: licensing costs money. Unlike parks that have an IP-owning media company in their shareholdings, (disney, universal, for example) MW has to pay a license fee for every IP they bring in. Some licences cost more than others, and it has to be financially viable. There's no sense building the most popular IP if it's exorbitantly more expensive than the next cheapest option - you'll profit more on a cheaper IP that is still popular longevity - just because the latest craze might happen to be Labubu or something that doesn't mean it has the timeless qualities that will immortalise itself in a theme park attraction that will stand for a decade or more. But you can bet those surveyed will be influenced by popular culture 'right now' only to lose interest in that product next week when the new thing comes along. Having the public design a ride... just... no. Ride design is a skill and not everyone can do it. I know a few people who are involved in this line of work and it isn't a cakewalk - those people are pretty amazing and special for what they can do. Sure - get the public to submit some ideas. maybe one or two of them won't actually suck (or at least will be practical, realistic and not defy the laws of physics) but it's no way to run a theme park. Chances are, the park already has the ride, the name, and the theme picked out beforehand - with their order in several years prior - because that's how long some of the waitlists are. The public campaigns where guests contribute to the ride design, theme or name is almost always pure marketing, nothing more.

I am doing Europa and Phantasialand next month while I'm in Germany (Also hitting up Legoland in Denmark). So if you're not going before than I can let you know how things go when I'm back. Luckily I have time to be able to spend 2 days in each. Thanks to @mba2012 for the advice for Europa above

Im all about surveys to find out what most guests want then build attractions based on the top three be these Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network characters, Wonka, Barbie, Hanna Barbara, Elf, The Matrix, Beetlejuice, Lego Movie these are dozens of amazing attraction that could build around franchises and IP that they have. Let the public have there say or even a competition to design and new ride and give the winners life time family passes to come up with amazing rides and attractions 🙂

Sea World Monorail Permanent Closure
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Probably would have been easier to do that before they built the bloody coaster. I wonder what they're going to mount their floodlights and CCTV cameras on now. -

mba2012 started following Europa & Efteling Visit 2025
-
I visited both parks in July last year. It was definitely busy that time of year, but I imagine it gets much busier later in summer too. Both parks are huge though, which helps spread out the crowds; the biggest queues I encountered were for Voltron at Europa Park (which had only been open two months at this point) at around 90-120 minutes for the normal queue (I used the single rider queue every time). I was visiting by myself, so I made pretty extensive use of single rider queues, so some of my advice might not be totally accurate. Efteling roughly forms a circle, which makes it easy to move through the park as the day goes on. The big high-G rides there are all concentrated in the same place out the back though, so you might find yourself going back and forth, which can take a bit of time. If your partner is happy doing indoor roller coasters, then I'd highly recommend Vogelrock, as it wouldn't be any more intense than Jungle Rush, and honestly it was one of my favourites there. The grounds and gardens and random attractions all over the place are also really worth seeing, so definitely take your time as you walk through the park. The layout of Europa Park is far more chaotic, and I'd say it's probably impossible to see everything in a one day visit. I've gone twice now, and there's plenty of things I haven't tried, and probably some areas I haven't even walked through yet. It'll be pretty easy to balance out high-G rides with smaller/dark rides, as they're all pretty evenly distributed around the park. Down the front of the park you've got the Eurosat CanCan Coaster that's in the big dome. Both trips I've been surprised by how much I enjoyed it, and it's not too intense (probably similar to Jungle Rush, just a bit longer). Silver Star (the B&M hyper) is right there too, and that's a solidly enjoyable ride, but it often has some of the longest queues in my experience. Unless you're desperate to get on a B&M hyper, I'd prioritise several other rides first. If you've been on Steel Taipan, then you can probably prioritise other rides over Blue Fire (it's still a great ride though). Arthur is a really fun and pretty tame ride, that's definitely worth getting on because of how unique it is. And obviously I'd recommend Voltron as a must ride, there's pretty much nothing like it. My recommendations for must-do rides at Europe Park would be (in no particular order): Voltron, Blue Fire, Eurosat, Euromir, Arthur, Silver Star, Wodan. I've just then visited other rides/attractions as I've walked between those ones. I don't have any great recommendations for food at either park, because I've never gone out of my way to find food. For accomodation, I'd recommend trying to stay close to Europa Park. It's fairly straightforward to get there from elsewhere, but it can take a while on trains + buses (I was staying in Heidelberg and had a 2-3 hour trip each way last time I visited. Freiburg is only about 1-1.5 hours away, and is where I'd recommend if you don't want to stay in Rust itself). Efteling is also quite accessible, and it's much closer to big cities like Amsterdam or Rotterdam. Personally, I found the longer vlogs from Coaster Studios and Theme Park Worldwide to be really useful for getting a sense of what's in each park, and roughly how to get around. Feel free to fire away with any additional questions you've got too!

Okay, managed to pin down 2 parks on our EU trip this year - Europa and Efteling look to be the parks closest to our travel route. I'd also considered Phantasialand and Walibi NL, but they will be too far away. So, they will be single-day summer visits. If you have been to either Europa or Efteling since 2022, let me know any tips or must-do's. I would ride almost anything once, but would probably prefer to not do high-G rides back to back. My other half cannot do anything more intense than Jungle Rush. Also, what websites/video channels are good for EU Park visit guides? Of course I'll post pics/report when I can.

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think because they were working on the assumption that most people would understand fence = don't enter... Unfortunately it doesn't matter how many fences or signs you put up - some people think they don't apply to them if they just need to retrieve their hat. -
JDS and RRRC are both attractions kids and parents can enjoy. Honestly - I get why some enthusiasts would want to remove it but the attraction is one of the best children's attractions on the gold coast. It's a capacity monster for little kids. Adults (even those without children) can ride it, and it's a fun 'mini movie world' (albeit outdated) that is really cool to walk through. I hate that it replaced LTRR and wish LTRR still existed, but at this point i'm not going to advocate removing it. Meant to? Yes. Achieved? No. Honestly there's still plenty of teenagers that are fearful of 'big coasters' and WOZ does nothing to dispel that fear. There is still a gap in the lineup and coasters should never have been the solution to plug that gap. Once Speedy got the minimum height (which on behalf of all ride operators I 100% agree was required) it should have been taken out - it no longer serves any purpose that JDS cannot fulfill. The park cannot close it's kiddie land for 18 months. They'd have to bring in temporary flats which would look like garbage and crowd out the rest of the park. You don't need to shut the area - you need to take back the maintenance shed\LTRR showbuilding, fit it out internally as an all weather attraction space, THEN you can close off the other half of the land and develop it. So, basically everything I said at the beginning - looks like this plan has some support! Out of all the attractions in WB Kids - and you want to axe the most popular? makes no sense.

I'd axe JDS, and turn the building into a Cavu Quest based on an ACME factory.

My idea would be to somehow gut the area. Keep Road Runner, JDS (but update it), Marvin, the Parents Room and Arcade but flatten everything else and bring it indoors. Something like this at the WB park in Abu Dhabi could work but on a lower budget: perhaps a combination of matte paintings, more space between buildings and building facades closer to the walls (rather than building the whole building) could work. This would not only reduce having to spend money on repaints thanks to the sun but allow a difference to the other parks in having an indoor kids section. On a hot summer day in January where the park gets the most visitors, most families would likely rather be inside an air-conditioned indoor kids section rather than standing right in the heat.

the area really should be their next area of major investment alongside the Dc Supervillians area, if i were to do it i would; - update JDS to the current park set up (removing Arkham, adding Rivals, Flash & WoO.) - remove Taxis, Tweety’s and Yosemite Sam’s + relocate Marvin to where the old Pounce and Bounce use to be. - relocate the parents room towards the front of the land, either behind the Arcade or next to JDS. - install a Zamperla Nebulaz, and 2-3 other flat rides in the left side of the land all the past attractions use to occupy, maybe even a small kiddie coaster could work (like the Daddy Pig coaster in Florida.) - reopen Sam’s / build a food outlet, the closest one to the area would be frozen coke / gotham city cafe but i think having atleast a smaller food outlet would work in there.
-
Absolute ridiculous to remove JDS. People who even contemplate this demonstrate they have no kids between 3 and about 8, or have paid zero attention to how busy this is during the holiday season. The reason for having JDS and speedy taxis was because speedy taxis never used to have a minimum height restriction. If your kid could co-ordinate feet standing on a button and being able to turn a steering wheel, they could go on the attraction. If they had real money to spend, you really need to shut the area for maybe 18 months and give serious consideration for enclosing the whole area. Either, actually indoors or another canopy setup in similar guise to main street. In a country with some of the harshest sun/uv on the planet, the place is a concrete canyon.
-
i think the ride is very close to completion, we know they still have one more exterior waterfall to turn on. i still have hope that they’ll paint the black walls inside the temple (which would make sense to do after these holidays as it’s the quietest part of the year), and maybe add some fog / mist effects on the entries and exits of the temple.

Knowing what the park’s awful management is like these days, it’ll probably remain where it is now permanently.

Nah, they were in the other tunnels on the walls (and possibly under the track as well, it was hard to tell when travelling through there so quickly).
