  1. Today
  2. There was a post about their social media manager going on leave, and two staff waving goodbye with a "wtf do we do now" look on their face. I think they're aiming for cringy as a style for the next few weeks or something?
  3. Except, I can’t recall the last time I rode DCR when these weren’t shut off and used as nothing more than weirdly shaped cubbyholes. Which, IMO, would be the major issue with anything that’s mechanical & not necessary for the ride to operate, no matter how simple or complicated it may be, it’s upkeep will fall to the wayside & be replaced by (or used as) a system that doesn’t need any extra attention/care to operate. In the event of a Superman overhaul, and under the mutual assumption that they weren’t to keep the separate load/unload station, I’d imagine the loose article system they’d opt for would be similar to Leviathan/Steel Taipan/Storm: A bin/wall with compartments for riders to store their loose articles, with a sliding door that covers at least half of these compartments at all times, which may or may not be slid across by a ride operator between dispatches. In the scenario that they overhaul Superman, but keep it’s load & unload stations the way they are, I’d again imagine that they’d shy away from an overly complex system like on Yukon Striker, instead opting for the significantly simpler setups like what’s on Velocicoaster/Steel Vengeance/Jet Rescue/Motocoaster: Right before boarding, loose articles are placed into a double-sided cubbyhole or (free) locker, and are retrieved from the other side via the ride exit path.
  4. Something really similar already exists with Rivals (in its first couple of years) with the double sided bins in the station where riders boarding placed their stuff next to the train, which would rotate towards the station wall by the time guests went back into the station. Iirc with 2 train ops the bins would rotate after guests on one of the trains disembarked and got their stuff, with the bins emptied for the next train and the next train’s stuff towards the wall waiting for them. There’s no reason something similar could be implemented into superman for a “next generation” revamp, however this would obviously necessitate a major re routing of the queue as those lockers would need to be placed on the wall next to where the fast track queue for the ride exists now. Don’t think this gets implemented until such a revamp occurs, if it ever does, because it requires massive works to not only the queue but the wall to fit such bins in.
  5. This is a subject that gets talked about a lot . As many people hate not having access to phones and other items in the SE queue. I saw this on reddit the other day and wondered if a similar system could work for SE? It wouldn't have to go down hill as it's all the same height. You could cross the train to the other side of the station. Put your bags into storage. Then the boxes slide into the unloading station and when you jump off you go to the left. Grab your stuff then leave to the right again. Not sure how this works with 2 train OP's but it's definitely interesting 89886D55-4B6B-4577-A13A-1461D8B07B66.webp Not sure why the image loaded like this
  6. Has anyone checked out DW's social media recently? I assume not because it has no engagement. But it's bad, like really, really bad. It's worth having a look at just for the cringe, especially the recent videos. They're investing in their 'most expensive ever' attraction, but is the marketing going to do it justice? I get that it's hard to get engagement with organic social media these days, but if you're at least posting quality relevant stuff it can get some reach. VRTP's social media is leagues ahead, like not even in the same universe
  7. Perhaps they should spend more time and effort on this, and less on the worst marketing campaign I've ever seen from our theme parks...
  8. Yesterday
  9. New construction wall art has been put up (currently behind the Flash construction wall) The rainbow arches seen in the concept art are now off site (Paradise Country road, bad photo and look better in person) Jaggs also posted a couple of aerial shots in his latest update
  10. You can’t take phones onto ride, so there aren’t any photos from that view. I believe @Ogre has shared some either on here or in his videos on YouTube
  11. Maybe they could make it look like a curvy Artdeco façade. The curves are already there. It would require a few extra add ons. If I have some spare time I'll try to draw something up
  12. So, it's complained about frequently (and rightly so). So what are people's 'slap of paint and a new sign' level treatments for the Sky Voyager facade, to better suit the Main St theme? No big budget. I've tried to come up with an idea, but got nothing. Aside from the stark white needs to go.
  13. SV changes are for than a facade. The whole queue would have to change.
  14. Looks great. One day they'll have some capex to redo the Sky Voyager facade and there will be much rejoicing from enthusiasts.
  15. Yes, but the second half of the coaster is mainly just landscaping and going over the lake. You are right about the queue and first half though.
  16. @TBoy you do realise Velocicoaster is more than just good landscaping? It's has a very well themed queue, animatronics, lighting/sound/smoke effects, a very extensive amount of handcrafted rockwork and all the other general theming to give the impression the coaster is inside a raptor enclosure.
  17. I prefer coasters with custom layouts and good landscaping like Velocicoaster. You don't need a big massive mountain; just make the area around the ride look good with trees and gardens. Extra points for themed stations.

  19. I pick option four, custom layout and great theming. But it really comes down to a lot of different factors. Moto coaster is a custom layout, but it isn’t an enjoyable ride and if it had good theming, I’d still say ‘that coasters theming is great, but the ride itself isn’t enjoyable and therefore I’m not going to ride it for the theming’. If Steel Taipan and DC Rivals had an indoor queue and preshow before the launch/lift hill then that would definitely make those coasters even better. Which is exactly what Superman Escape did and that’s part of what makes that attraction so great. But in the case of DC Rivals, I’d rather have it how it is because it’s a great layout, than them remove a quarter/half of the layout and use that budget to add some theming/pre show to the ride. For Jungle Rush, hypothetically if this layout doesn’t turn out to be good, but it’s comfortable to ride and the theming is amazing, then yes I probably would be inclined to ride it more because of its immersion and story. And if the layout is enjoyable (which it think it will be), then that’s a bonus. TNT at Gumbuya World is a standard layout and the theming has been done pretty well, but if you took it away the coaster experience is still the same, it just makes the queue boring and lacking. So like @DaptoFunlandGuy I too can’t decide on an answer because there are so many variables to consider when trying to decide.
  20. I don't think either is 'better'. it depends on what it does, what market it is targeted at, etc. There's no option for this, so I can't place a vote. Storm sucks, ST is pretty decent. DCR is good. Each ride has to be considered on its merits and there is no 'one' formula that is 'better' than the other.
  21. Not sure if this has been coved elsewhere but the Main Street emporium had a color change and new sign put up
  22. In my personal opinion there's always more buzz around a custom layout coaster. (Jungle rush has way more buzz than WoO though that has great themeing so maybe that's part of the reason) but for most people who don't know rides are clones maybe the answer is different? Have no idea which option is more beneficial to parks. But I prefer option 2 though maybe option 3
