  1. You are all kinds of frustrating dude... "wording" refers to the use of words in the forming of a sentence. I wasn't talking about spelling mistakes or an overlooked acronym. Before you go all Macquarie on me, that's not a dictionary definition, it's a laymans definition. And you do nitpick, incessantly..

  2. So putting it out there for everyone. There will be a clean up to this thread coming soon, anything not related to the actual construction or just dumb made up speculation about dates etc is going to be removed. If you want to talk rubbish about "my fridge says this date" or erections or anything else not actually relevant to the construction please take it to chit chat. That means that there might be days without posts until track arrives or an announcement is made and here at parkz we are totally ok with that.

  3. To me this shows the biggest issue regarding Village. They always see fit to blame others for their loses. They did it before in regards you movie piracy and now are doing it with their parks. Instead of admitting their wrongs they would rather try and distance themselves or attack. Instead they really should be focusing on themselves, so they should be fixing up their parksite d giving people a reason to go back. At the moment WnW Sydney has hardly changed since it opened and doesn't have the best staff and Sea world is only a fraction of its past. Sea World should be a park that people would play full price to go to, but as it sits the majority of people would onlyrics go if they went to WnW or MW. They should also be working with DW instead of trying to push them away. As this issue has not just been about DW the media also took aim at MW's ride "malfunctions", because of the media they are just as much a part of it as DW is. They should be working together to restore confidence in theme parks.

  4. Having these two quotes side-by-side makes it very hard to believe that first one. Let mistakes be mistakes, please don't pull them apart every time one is made, no-one likes a nitpicker.

  5. Ugh. For what it's worth, I hadn't even noticed that Brad had posted VTP instead of VRL, and (like most here, I'm sure) I frankly don't bloody care, either. Can we please move on now? I was enjoying reading everyone's feedback on the 1H17 results until it all changed to be fussing over trivial crap ? @Jamberoo Fan with all due respect, I know you mean well, but seriously dude.... maybe consider that biting your tongue may be the better option instead of potentially derailing a topic over something most people wouldn't care about? ?

  6. Firstly it's worth reiterating that this isn't a knee-jerk cut of all expenditure but rather an apparent renewed focus on ROI. It's also worth pointing out that despite the attendance hit they took this period, VRTP is performing OK in comparison to other divisions and the company suggests they have every confidence that the post-Thunder River Rapids pain will be short-lived. A very simplistic way of looking at major theme park CapEx as it stands (or stood): FY17 - Doomsday FY18 - Coaster FY19 - Topgolf FY20 - Sea World attraction Simplistic because some of these investments are clearly spread over several years, include expenses that would predate this timeline, and of course major attractions only form a piece of the CapEx at the theme parks. The coaster is well underway to the point where it is inevitable. The company seems committed to Topgolf as it featured heavily in today's presentation and was referred to favourably in the context of this tightening of CapEx. The 2019 Sea World attraction that has been hinted is likely be the next major attraction at the Gold Coast parks and would probably be structured to fall within the 2020 financial year. If there are major cuts to theme park investment then this would likely be the first casualty, but but there's a few things working in its favour: The annual renewal drive really does rely on there being something new at one of the Gold Coast parks. Sea World is next in line after a few Movie World-centric years, not to mention their dwindling attraction roster. The dearth of rides at Sea World notwithstanding, Sea World will be just short of seven years since their last major animal attraction by December 2019. If there's a way to do an interesting major animal exhibit with minimal capital outlay and activist controversy then that's what I'd be looking for as a cash-strapped theme park operator.

  7. What's the bet this ends up being something stupid. My new prediction is- Next week @themagician will post a picture captioned. “The trees in front of JL are getting a haircut”

  8. Yeah true, I guess when one of the major points stated that the theme parks division will be down, but the level of which will be dependent upon June VIP renewals, that I expected some commentary on what they will to drive those sales and minimise the loss..

  9. Yeah it's clunky but it's also not a document that's intended for mainstream consumption. It gets across the point it needs to and serves as the backbone of the larger presentation and Q&A session for shareholders that has just wrapped up. For that reason too there's no reason to go into great detail about what Movie World are building beyond what they said there and what they have already said. It's a FY18 attraction and has little bearing on the 2017 results beyond whatever role it plays in the membership/renewal pass campaign, which is far beyond the scope of this kind of meeting/presentation.

  13. The first line, I think, is to portray marketing taglines in the upcoming 'The Magic Can Be Yours Now' campaign. The second one did miss some commas but they did correctly say 'VRL' (not 'VTP') and like @Richard said, it quickly emphasises a key point in the presentation.

  14. Well you were complaining (and asking) about the 'wording' so given the only 'word' incorrect in the sentence you posted was 'VTP' - a 'misquote' of yours - I thought you were pointing out a mistake that did not exist. The only real error in the real sentence I could see was a lack of commas - a grammar mistake. It relates in that you can participate in both (rides & magic). In relation to the 2nd quote, I see what you mean now but no, they're not 'admitting' to having crap rides (though, if they were, it would not be the first time VRTP have done something similar ). To be fair though, I don't really see how this marketing campaign is suppose to help with public confidence. Similar to what you just said, to me, it gives the impression 'Where was the magic before?'. I don't nitpick - I knew he possibly meant 'Village Theme Parks' but in the quote, it was the only word that was incorrect & he was complaining (and asking) about the 'wording' so what else could I do but point it out?
