  1. Yep going to add an excerpt and some photos you guys might enjoy. If you want to read the rest of my ramblings and swearing, you can go to that other place with the things.

  2. I know this is not a video but I really enjoyed the Bermuda Triangle so thought i would post the on ride photo you could buy. At a guess i would say this is around 1995-96. Yes i am the one going crazy for the camera, not sure why we do bizarre things when we we're young. If you zoom in on the photo it gives you all the ride stats you need to know.

  6. This review and experience is purely based on the soft opening on 16 September 2017. (No photos as there's plenty of time for those later) Front Row: While the back row is great, and more on that later, nothing IMO will beat the experience of riding this hypercoaster in the front row. Not only do you get the unobstructed views of everything, but you get the full eye watering force of the wind in your face and a good look at the track and theming on the train. Rating: 10/10 - Would definitely do again given the chance. Backwards: 100% worth the money. The forces seem a decent amount stronger when riding backwards. It's $10 for a backwards seat. I spent $30 on day one. Would have been a lot more if there were more hours in the day. Going up the lift hill, and throughout a lot of the ride, the only thing holding you down is the OTSR. That's an incredible feeling I haven't experienced on anything other than a flying coaster before. Rating: 10/10 - Time to start saving. Theming: There's not much, which is as expected, but what's there is good. Much like the coaster itself, it's big and it's bold and bright. In saying that, it would have been nicer to see something similar to what's in the DC Villains area. For me, there was also a couple of things with the theming I didn't like. Firstly, and this is very little so doesn't detract from my overall opinion of the ride, the DC Rivals sign just to the left of the queue. The sign itself is nice and will make great photos, but whatever cleaning product they used on day one left it all covered in white streaks. They're going to need stainless steel cleaner or something less streaky. The other things I would have liked (which I have docked a couple of points for) would have been something on the ceiling of the station. Ideally that would be themed hero/villain mannequins hanging in fighting poses. If not that, even just a nice coloured ceiling. Just something other than a plain ceiling really. Finally, the positioning of the test seat. Why put it part way through the queue when you can almost guarantee for the next several months the queue will snake out long past the test seat and back towards the GL queue if not further. There's plenty of space back in the entry area/courtyard. Rating: 8/10 - It's almost there, but just missing that last little kick which would make it great, and the test chair is in a stupid spot. Load/Unload: Maybe it was because it was day 1 and everyone was really keen to be involved, but the loading and unloading procedures were some of the best I've seen at an Australian park. The next bunch of guests would be staged at the gates before the train made it back to the station, even when they were running two trains. Everyone was in and out very quickly and there was no waiting for the last ride to clear the station before opening the air gates. The item drop is well positioned and works well. I have high hopes of this procedure and speed staying for quite some time given that the ride will be popular for years and they'll want to push through as many people as they can so the lines don't get too long. I really hope we don't hit off season and see them drop back to 3 ride ops (1x Control, 2x platform). Rating: 10/10 - Let's hope it stays that way. Staff: Huge credit to the opening day crew. They were super friendly, happy and genuinely looked to be enjoying their jobs and excited to be working on the ride. They were always smiling and chatting with guests and they really helped add to the excitement and atmosphere of the opening. Rating: 10/10 - Excellent staff. Ride Experience: The ride just does not let up from start to finish. There's constant speed, thrills, airtime and excitement. You do get thrown around a decent amount, but the seats are comfy and there doesn't really seem to be any violent head banging or anything. The ride is incredibly smooth and silent. I've never been on a coaster this close to construction before so I don't know if this is fairly standard for coasters or if this is really something special. Will be interesting to see how it ages over the next few years. Rating: 10/10 - Would ride again. Overall: There is nothing in Australia that's going to beat this for a very long time, if ever. I can't personally see Dreamworld investing in anything that comes even close to this and it doesn't make sense for VRTP to invest in something this large to compete with themselves for a good decade or more. This is truly hands down the best coaster in Australia and in my opinion would rank very highly among the worlds' top coasters. Rating: 9.6/10 - I don't care if the math doesn't work. It's not a perfect score because of the theming and the test seat position. The ride itself though would get a 10/10. Personal Top 3: Tatsu (SFMM), Rivals (WBMW), Ghostrider (KBF). While Rivals is an excellent coaster, for me there's just something unique about flying coasters that can't be beaten.

  7. Want to ask if it's operating today? This is the place... no guarantees you'll get an answer though. If you are at Movie World and can report that it's running, delayed, temporarily closed, how long the queue is or if it's one or two train operation then please share... even if no one asks.

  9. I doubt we'll see another coaster at MW in the next decade. It would be compared to DCR, so if it's not gamechanging it would be considered a poor cousin, and if it is gamechanging it's effectively competing against its own product. DW desperately needs a quality coaster to bring the crowds back. Nothing brings crowds like coasters (hence the propensity of these being the choice attractions at our parks). SW desperately needs a coaster too. Family rides are awesome, and certainly I feel DW probably has the running in that market currently, and that may remain their focus, they don't appear too intent in entering a "my coaster is better than yours" war with MW, due to the investment required. The important thing to note is that a well-themed immersive dark ride, especially with no existing building to utilise, is going to set you back pretty similar money to what has been spent on DCR. That's when ROI comes in, and will a $30-40m dark family ride have people lining up 200 deep "just incase" it opens today as a new coaster does... the likely answer is no, which is why funds are diverted elsewhere

  11. I think it's safe to say we won't see another coaster at MW for at least 4 years. MW have put a big coaster in on average every 4-6 years. But I doubt we will see one soon considering they will want to see a ROI for Rivals. Personally I think the next coaster will be a replacement for AA. (6 years or so) as ride manufactures give an average life span of 30 years and it's definatly not new coaster. The only chance you have off a dark ride happening will be if they decided to remove junior driving school and use that whole building or a small dark ride in the show stage. (Personally I think a new show would be better) as big Show buildings are not cheap and it has to be justified with a ROI. But I think it's safe to say the next attraction will be a family ride and not a high thrill ride.

  13. There are a few objections our Aussie Parks face with going down the Dark ride path: 1. The average dumb Aussie punter simply doesn't appreciate a good Dark ride. Their idea of a Great ride is a huge Coaster or Giant Spin'n'Spew.. The very same people go to Disneyland and leave after a couple of hours thinking the place is "shit for Adults and just for kids". Ask these same people which rides they experienced? Guaranteed it will be only the one's they can see (ie Dumbo, teacups, maybe Matterhorn) and they probably strolled by the best attractions and because they couldn't see what's inside thought "why should I wait half an hour for some shit Dark ride that I can't see....? Answer=Tossers 2. Ongoing maintenance/ upkeep. Too many moving parts with animatronics figures, sets, lighting, fog, audio, on-board fx, motion synchronisation, motion base upkeep, water pumps, steam machines, 3D projection, hydraulics, cooling towers, PLC and all other BOH functions.. the list goes on and of course it depends on the complexity of the ride. Bottom line is these kinds of rides need A LOT of TLC. Ongoing ROI often often necessitates downgrading the quality and presentation of the 'show' over time (see WWF, LT, BT, BA.... Scooby-Doo?) 3. For a Dark ride to be shit hot and appeal to a wider Audience (including the said 'dumb' Aussie) our Park's would have to invest megabucks on a ride system and dynamic show experience to have serious wow factor. With ongoing upkeep in mind, if our Parks are after a new Dark ride / experience they would be wise to consider screens over AA together with the big BOOM FX that put similes on faces together with a fast and unpredictable motion for a thrilling, yet more inclusive experience. Surveys and Market research consistently finds that majority of visitors want more Coasters and thrill rides. Look at the reviews. Rivals is the most sensible and ostentatious investment for MW at this time. The next Big thing for SW should be a said family/thrill/dark ride experience and compete more directly with DW. I don't see such a ride coming to MW for a very long time.

  16. With DC Rivals open, it's not likely that Movie World will make any big announcements or moves for a long time, which is understandable with what they have produced. This topic is to suggest little things Movie World can do to improve. Example, create a pathway from A to B. An example of what not to say, create a new area with all new rides and attractions. Here's my proposed plan, feel free to share yours. - Sail DC Rivals queue, just a few poles and some sails will do to create shade for the larger part of the queue, currently your fried waiting in a long queue. - Get rid of the queue for justice league, the queuing inside is cooler and is enough to compensate for the amount of riders even in heavy traffic. I don't see a need to have people queue outside for Justice League. Maybe even set up a DC Rivals Store. - Improve streets parade, just do it please, I have no interest in seeing looney tunes dance. The superheroes and super villains parade was great and I hope it returns for good! - Improve HWSD, I mean the show really needs a complete makeover, but we're talking minor, so changing the stunts and storyline could certainly help the show out for regular park guests who are not interested in HWSD anymore. - Improve Arcade, take out the outdated, old arcade games and add more recent and new arcade games. They have barely changed and the variety is very lacklustre. Their are also no good claw machines. - Shut down Scooby Doo until referb, all it's doing is making regular non-enthusiasts angry as they just believe that MW has removed the scenery and that's it. So close it until it is presentable, it's also influencing reviews of Movie World. - Change up the Shows- Once again, if you can change the shows for a superheroes/villains event, surely you can change/mix up the regular one's with new stories and character. *Hint - I want to see penguin. - More free roam characters- Superheroes/villains event did it right, always a couple of characters roaming, and they were all different instead of your vanilla batman and superman. I mean it's fine to have them seeing as they are the faces of Movie World, but chuck in some villains. *Not just the Joker. Also, it was good having the cop car as it was a good place to get a photo with a character with a cool background, instead of random people walking around. Makes photos feel more like ride photos where you are put into a setting. - More buffet options- Not everyone likes pizza, maybe mix it up, I mean pizza is the only option unless you fancy eating batman bread and chips. - Do a little bit extra with the Batwing- Smoke coming out of the bottom when you are about to take off, flashing lights when you take off. Just these little things enhance the ride experience. - More interaction- I don't think the DC wristbands are good at all, but if they want to make them more appealing, add some intractable games or whatever in the courtyard of Arkham asylum. Their is plenty of space, but make sure they are more interesting, maybe riddler puzzles. That's it for now, feel free to leave suggestions and tell me that this topic is stupid. Thanks

  18. Hi all, I'm new to the Parkz forums so I thought I'd finally make a post. Sorry to bump this older thread, was lacking the courage to start a new one and I think the topic fits anyway Found this article from the Illawarra Mercury: http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/4916625/swept-up-with-excitement-as-jamberoo-action-park-prepares-to-open/ First notable point is the mention of theming upgrades for The Perfect Storm. Although there was a strobe installed last season (I think), from this it sounds like it's getting a bit of an upgrade. Hopefully they will have fully darkened the covered Tornado 60. Second point is, once again, a mention of a new attraction in the coming years: Now I will treat this part with some skepticism, but judging by Jamberoo's investments in recent years, this could be something pretty huge. Personally, I was hoping for a Proslide HydroMagnetic Rocket, but judging by this description, that option seems to be out. Side-note: I think that a Hydromagnetic Rocket would do wonders for Jamberoo, maybe they're saving it for further down the track. As another user said, it would be awesome if they built one after all the rest of Kangaroo Island is complete, then it could weave around the other attractions. So at this stage I'm thinking hoping that this might be something like a Behemoth Bowl 40 (or 60!?) then two Tornado WAVE 60's back to back, similar to the one that's just gone in at Volcano Bay in Orlando. I hear that ride is one of their most popular. Ticks both boxes of "world first" and "three rides in one". Then again, it could just be a play on words, and be three different tube / body slides (in some "never-before-seen" combination). What does everybody think?? scadam.

  19. So Part 4 came out today of Goliath's Story. I thought I would put it all together and see if we can make any sense of it. With the opening this Saturday of the new season I think we will see this continue until then. In the Darkness of Night, A world of silence, An answer is needed, Celestial Guidance, A legend from long ago, Tells of an object hidden in time, A Myth, A folktale, A story told at bedtime. Of six points in the night sky, Marking a Colossal Beast, Waiting and Watching, Ready to be unleashed, The key to unlock this force, From where it is bound, Is a Rhythm, A noise of such magnitude, An epic sound.

  21. I've been lucky enough to get on row 10 and I've gotta say. It's the closest you're going to get to the backwards seat while still facing the right way. It is almost as intense as riding it backwards but with the ability to see what's coming up. Whenever I go facing forwards, I'm hoping for row 10.

  22. Way, way, way better than the front seats. It's what I wanted Rivals to be. It just hauls arse in a giddy, relentless kind of way. I don't think you'd want to do it five times in a row, but i'd definitely do it once in a while. Plus, with the 45 degree lift hill, the second you start going up all you've got is the lapbar holding you in place. It's definitely un-nerving. I've heard row 10 is the place to be in terms of front-facing seats. Will have to report back on that one soon.

  23. Movie World isn't a Six Flags or Cedar fair park. The current coaster lineup is now world class, probably just behind the most well known parks worldwide, Movie World does not need another coaster for a while now. My priority now for MW is getting scooby doo and WWF back to their best. Those can be the two best themed rides in the country.

  27. Universal is in Osaka, which, without a JRP is going to be expensive, especially if you're not doing any other travel outside of Tokyo. Let's say you're staying in Tokyo for a tick, here's where i'd be at: Go to Fuji-Q Highlands, it has a Thomas the tank engine land for the little ones and Japan's most craziest rides, period. I've written about it here: http://ourworlds.co/2017/reviews/fuji-q-highlands-review/ Get a 3 day pass to the Tokyo Disney resort, you won't regret it. Remember to commit though, Japan crowds are smart, organised and efficient, so if you're not there at 9am like they are you'll miss out on all the good fastpasses. Stay nearby - places like the MyStays Maihama are a nice joint nearby without spending a lot of cash. Above all else, go to DisneySea, it's the best park on the planet and it'll blow your mind. Kawasemi and Regina are two fantastic Intamin coasters in one of the worst parks in the world for the simple reason they treat their animals like shit, and for as much as I just love Kawasemi, I can't recommend Tobu Zoo to folks. O'daiba is a cool place to visit in the afternoon/evening and it's where you'll find Joypolis and a sweet indoor inverting spinning coaster that has joysticks on it so you can shoot things. It's just awesome. Plus there's new VR stuff nearby and an onsen "theme park" nearby you should try. It's like what Darling Harbour in Sydney should've been. Head to Tokyo Dome and ride Thunder Dolphin. It's nearby heaps of other stuff so you can lump it in with other sight-seeing duties. At this point you've spent roughly 5 days doing coasters and theme parks. If you have more time, then your stretch goals should be: Go to Yimouriland, it's not filled with crazy amazing coasters but it's a fun day out. Yokohama Cosmoworld is pretty cool too, plus the Kirin brewery is nearby and gives out free samples. Hope this helps.

  32. I would rather a bland attraction and the park be blamed for not re investing than an empty plot of land where the park is being blamed for not reinvesting. I'm not made about shutting attractions so long as the replacement can justify the closure.

  33. Attractions can't just stay forever though.. and these ones were obviously either to hard to maintain, or they simply just needed a change over. The park WILL invest in something for the families, but it won't happen within the next year or two because they did just invest in a coaster that cost em' 30+ million.

  42. The Facebook page states: My interpretation of this statement would be that the ride does not meet modern fire safety requirements (e.g. the required number of emergency exits etc), not that the mountain is not fire safe. I'm sure that if the mountain was not fire safe, it would have come down as soon as Dreamworld became aware of this.

  44. Honestly, I'm not quite sure where this is coming from. MovieWorld has pretty much everything a Universal park has, and even more. Keep in mind, this is an AUSTRALIAN park, not Universal we are talking about here. P.S Six Flags isn't much to hope for.
