  1. Control panel for The Beast (KMG XXL) The red box next to the panel is the remote control that helps set the ride up, it controls the walking system, hydraulic cylinders, winch system etc. The three white buttons at the bottom of the control panel control the swing of the ride (15%, 40%, 100%) the switch is for the restraint locks, blue button is reset, red light is failure, and the dial on the right controls the spinning of the gondolas.

  4. oh it'll return alright... they won't go to the trouble of demolishing it so even if it is retired, it'll still sit there and slowly rot. perhaps they'll build a red fence around it too?

  6. Hello everybody! Today I headed down to Adventure World and I’m deciding to do a little more so summary of my day rather than a review. (I’ll be doing my summary split into rides and my experience with them today). (DON’T READ IF YOU WANT PHOTOS, THERE ARE NONE) Started the day off, entering through the front gates at 10am. Went to go rent a locker, put all my shit in it and started to get ready for an AWesome day. Headed to the Abyss first, me and my mate went back seat in order to warm up as we didn’t want to hurt our necks on front seat. (All rides that I didn’t go on were due to my mate not wanting to, those being Rampage, Freefall and some water slides. Abyss. Wow. After a year and a half of not riding Abyss let alone coming to the part, I can unfortunately say that my baby has ages, and certainly not for the better. This might be due to just pure expectation of it being smoother and since I ridden more smoother rides now. Nonetheless enjoyed riding it so much today. In total being at AW from 10-5, I managed to have about 30 rides today on Abyss. Did I mention the queues? No? Oh probably because there were none. Every single ride today was a walk-on besides the Grand Prix. I’m guessing I had around 25 or so rides in backseats and the rest in the front. Front was very, very turbulent like always but I’m not stupid and understand how to brace myself. Same workers were on shift all day and we’re very interactive and seems to be very sarcastic (in a good way). Unfortunately there was only one train operating today throughout all day, but it didn’t really matter considering queues were not considered a thing today. The workers continued to say to me and my mate, “Not you two again!” and at the end of rides “Is everyone still alive?” and the ride op would answer “Good!” to anyone who replied with “Yes”. Once the riders have gotten off of the train she continued to scream “Don’t come back!”. I continued to joke around with her all day. Kraken. Couldn’t be fucked running up the hill today so only went on three time. Operators were efficient and rides were always a walk-on. Was much fun but was very cold for us all today! Water mountain (I think that’s what it’s called I forgot). All these slides were walk on the fastest I’ve ever seen them operate. First time seeing all the new theming and I love it and think it looks great. I like the water effects on Rocky Ralis and like how it adds to the ride being such a small thing. Goliath. What you’ve been waiting for correct? Wow. Amazing. Gorgeous. Airtime. Vomit. Now, very funny ride. Made me laugh pretty much every time I went in, not only because once there was a five year old next to me swearing and saying every “naughty word” he could think of. Now theming. Looks great just as the photos of course. When I walked into the park and saw it swinging I was like holy fuck it actually looks like it swings pretty high. Much like how I reacted when I saw Abyss for the first time in person. Wait times were essentially just waiting for the current swing to finish as @Tim Dasco mentioned the other day. The ride starts off, the story themed voice comes on “Brace yourselves for the battle ahead and answer the call of the drums!” the floor lower and you swing forward or backward (depending on where you sit). Intensely speeds up quickly. Holy shit, this is so much closer to a Zamperla Discovery Revolution I thought. I was surprised with how much force was being layed onto my body. Speed, height and feeling as though I’m going to flip once reaching the top. LAP BARS, HONNNNEYYYYYY. I’m in love. Lap bars really do enhance the ride experiences. I’ve never felt so much like I’m going to fall out. You would think you would feel confident putting your hands in the air the whole time after riding once or twice. No. Not for me atleast. I think it’s going to take me a little longer, I’m sure next time I go I will feel confident, but I just like the insecurity that it implies. The hangtime is beatifull. However, I do feel a little wonky about this ride. Every time I went on it until about ride seven, my stomach always felt weird, but not in a good way and it wasn’t like butterflies. I almost felt weak in the stomach like I was going to vomit later. However I’m pretty sure that it was just that I wasn’t used to the thrill as I hadn’t really been on any rides for about a year and a half. HAHA moment of the day was when a male teenager through up in the garden after riding on the same ride Asmara me. I looked at them vimit after it happened a ride later (I’m so weird) and it wasn all pink and was a whole bunch of pink coated lollies. The ride operator said let it all go buddy no shame don’t hold back. I definitely think the ride operators for Goliath today could have been a lot faster. They dragged on and I understand that they were trying to be funny and entertain the kids, but let’s be real here, all of us just wanted to get on. Other than that the staff around the whole park were very enthusiastic and kind throughout the whole time. Kudos to the team. Goliath is a great addition and I’m sure everyone will enjoy it who don’t suffer from motion sickness. I just warn you that it may attack your stomach a little at first. Overall I had an AWesome day and am really happy that I can say that I love AW’s new addition for the season. Sorry for making this summary so long, I guess it really isn’t a summary lol. Whoops. Anyway if you did read this all good job, I don’t know if I would. P.S. If there are spelling mistakes or anything don’t complain I can’t be bothered fixing it all. I’ll tired lol.

  8. On a side note I forgot to mention that when I went yesterday hardly any of the seats on Goliath were in use. Most of them were down and had the seatbelts on due to what I think I said because the parkz wasnt empty because there was only one time of the day where all the seats were open due to a full cycle of people were being loaded on. Also, black widow now has full on seat belts along with the OTSR. I don’t know if this was added last season or this season. I think it would have been more harder as Abyss is more extreme and it was four years ago and rules probably would have changed. But eh, don’t rely on me I’m just a young, learning enthusiast.

  9. I haven't been to Adventure World in a long time, but I can tell you that I've ridden Arrow loopers that are smoother than Abyss was when I rode it. Abyss is a good ride, but putting OTSR's on it was a huge mistake. It would be significantly better ride if it had lap bars, like Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia. Mark has said on here why Abyss is rough at times on an earlier thread years back - from what I remember, it is because of the ride running fast because of Perth's hot climate. If Adventure World gives Abyss a coat of paint by next season, I will be very impressed, as they have done something Dreamworld can't seem to grasp.

  13. Nah, I just work on deck... I have driven it though.... very easy! the ride has a limit switch that it will hit after a short while of the ride running at 100%, you then just take it back to 40% and then you can drive it back up to 100%

  14. @Theme Park I am not 100 percent share what all the controls do but the key switch to the far right switches the ride from operation to maintenance. The green button just bellow the ear muff sticker Dispatches the train. The other key switch turns the controls on and off. The orange button turns the lights off and starts the sound effects. The big red button at the top is the e-stop. And the red plaque says If dispatching car between 7:45 and 9:00 am please confirm with tiger island via two way radio prior to dispatch. i hope this helped

  15. Well, he didn't say it was his, he said 'here is one OF tot'. Besides, does anyone really care about TPR anymore? Some look like buttons, but others would be indicator lights. I have no knowledge of this specific panel, but based on what I can see, and a few assumptions, i'll suggest: one key is the 'operations key' to enable the ride for normal operations. The second will be an 'auto \ manual' switch to allow manual operation as appropriate the third key should be the e-stop reset. Once an e-stop is hit, it should require a key to reset the ride to prevent misuse. From what I can read, the blue indicator looks to be labelled 'XXX cable engaged' - (i'm assuming this might be the tow cable for overshoot recovery, because i can't think of anything else) bottom left orange - not sure if button or light - one is forward, the other reverse, and either indicates the direction of travel of the car, or if buttons, would be for use during manual control, perhaps to jog the car. to the right is your ride start button. I'm assuming the top is the button to start, and underneath is a light to indicate the ride is ready to start, which probably doesn't illuminate until the other operator engages the switch on their console to give the all-clear. TO the right of that, the upper red one is ride stop. Not sure if the lower red one is another indicator, as with the start, or if it has some other function. The others i have less of a clue over, but you probably need to have a harness locked indicator (which may just be the green light under start), as well as a button to unlock harnesses if someone needs to be released before launch. I would think given what i can see that the light that is actually lit is the harness indicator, with the two buttons below being a lock \ unlock. I'm also not sure whether the tunnel siren (the pulse sound near GD just before launch) is manually activated or is tied into the ride start. I wonder if we have any ToT operators on the boards who can shed any light on this...

  16. Took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly? you think those 9 will rival Rivals? (had to do that!) Superman, Green Lantern, Rivals, Batwing, Arkham, Doomsday, (and if MDMC ranks as a big thrill, then...) SDSC and Wild West Falls. That's 8 rides that i'm comfortable saying shits on all but maybe 3 of DW's 'big 9'. Honestly their current actions don't even come close to competing. I'm calling it - Movie World is the new thrill capital on the gold coast!

  17. I managed to get 12 rides in this morning. Very few people came for the early access; they eventually ran one train empty and only loaded the other one.

  19. The chairlift is still operating, although on really slow mode. As I was sitting watching Goliath I heard a voice call out from above. A guy had been stuck up there for about 10 minutes. He was the only one on the ride at the time. I had a chat to him there, then we bumped into him a couple of times later on.

  20. I'm confused. So what you are saying is that the ride is showing it's age and quite rough to ride (particularly the front row. FOR SHAME AW btw) -despite this, you still rode 30 times in a single day? Are you a glutten for punishment? Lol. That butterfly/nausea feeling you get from Goliath seems pretty symptomatic of outside facing Pendulum rides and other spin-spews like Air Races (Pandemonium). They are not really designed to ride in multiple succession - Most ppl won't, because their bodies tell them to stop by making them feel sick, often after just 1 go! Side note. Is that Chair lift still operating? I'm surprised their Legal/Risk guys haven't shut it down by now as it's an accident waiting to happen.

  23. Just an edit to above post, I have since been told by someone that was at the ride this morning as well and spoke to an attendant while the ride was down, that apparantly a bolt had either come loose or broken and fallen from one of the trains. Not sure how accurate or truthful that is however.

  24. Dreamworld needs to convert that zombie scare maze/laser tag building into a dark ride to replace thunder river rapids and build some big thrill ride like a gigacoaster or something unique like the nations first 4d coaster something that can one up movie world all while finishing up repairs on all their currently closed rides.

  25. And there goes another big thrill ride, which was supposed to reopen in 2 weeks. Honestly I'm starting to get quite frustrated with this theme park. Especially with the Wipeout, yes it will probably reopen, however they are just taking way too long to do it. It doesn't take them that long to reproduce components even if they are making them overseas. They just seem quite understaffed in their engineering department. They have way too much to do, and are just being very slow at completing everything. The Tail Spin, a ride from 2014, should not take three months to maintain. I bet the TOT won't reopen anytime soon either, I am waiting for that to get pushed back also.
