  1. Dear Parks friends On 21st June I shall be sleeping rough on a thin piece of cardboard on concrete in the cold of a Melbourne winters night to help eradicate homelessness in Australia. This will be my fourth consecutive Sleepout and I hope to pass the $40k mark with your kind donation. Over the years of my involvement, I have been made acutely aware of the harsh reality of being homeless and the myriad of complex life events that can lead to people just like you and me, finding themselves in this terrible situation, a situation that once in, many people find it hard to climb back out of and lead normal lives. No one grows up wanting to find themselves homeless, moreover, it is usually as a result of circumstances out of their control such as abusive home lives that lead to homelessness. Your donation can assist Vinnies to provide shelter, food, blankets, and services to help people get back on their feet. Any size of donation is warmly appreciated and gets put to use immediately by the fantastic people at Vinnies. You can donate at https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/mark-shaw/perth and remember it is tax deductible! Many of you (@iwerks) have supported me before and I want to thank everyone in advance for your kind donations. My lifetime goal is to get to $200k with a hope that alongside many others, we can really make a dent in this avoidable issue. Mark

  2. Or paint it overnight like they did a few years back?

  3. Looking back, this is terrible photoshop but I'm just trying to start the conversation of how Dreamworld could theme the log ride with how much space there is.

  6. Yeah what Brad said. What's funny to me is they've tried so hard to tie pass sales in they've confused the public on what the event is. Good work marketing!

  7. 8pm in the email I received. Not worth the effort for a northsider like us.

  8. Superman coaster opened ahead of schedule by at least 4-5 days - it's possible!

  9. Works are also still happening on the dolphin lagoons, with fencing everywhere. And because of these works and the land works, COTD still mostly remains closed

  10. Funnily enough, I'd be more sad to see Sidewinder go than Arkham Asylum. It's a terrible ride, but custom Arrow loopers are a dying breed, while SLCs are found on every inhabited continent on Earth. I think Arkham Asylum is far less likely to go soon, though, since it is still popular. Would definitely free up some good space. I'd love to see a wooden coaster go there, but another multi-inversion steel coaster is far more likely. Maybe one of those awesome looking new Vekomas? As for Tower of Terror - Dreamworld wouldn't be the same without it, frankly. It's still arguably the park's most visually impressive ride, and its height and speed gives the park some bragging rights (it doesn't have much to brag about, that's for sure). I definitely think a refurb from Intamin is more likely than it being removed.

  11. To be fair, no other theme park in the world would paint some plywood and try to call it an attraction. So it is probably a world-first

  12. Re: the villains unleashed area, TBH the day they decided to 'make them free' to use, they should have just replaced the wristband reader with a small button to trigger the feature. Clearly people defacing \ stealing the wristbands for souvenirs was going to happen - and now people can't use them. Surely rewiring the RFID reader to have a simple button wouldn't be that difficult. In saying that, clearly the prime issue here is the customer service aspect of the day - much of the park's condition can be overlooked if you've had a pleasant human interaction throughout. We went to Dreamworld for Mother's Day yesterday. Every single staff member we interacted with or wandered past would greet us, ask how our day was, and especially - wishing my wife a Happy Mother's Day. Whilst the condition of the park is left wanting in many places right now (and whilst this certainly doesn't excuse it) every interaction we had brightened our day. If the executives of village roadshow are reading - they need to put more effort into their customer service efforts. Even Bunnings staff are encouraged to greet every customer they pass - i've walked past two staff having a conversation in the middle of the warehouse and had them stop their conversation just to say hello and ask if we needed any help. It's not hard - although having a lower age group as your primary human resources is a challenge - its no excuse - and simply issuing a directive that all customers should be greeted is a simple thing to implement that would change every guest's day for the better.

  14. Although the name "Tower of Terror" doesn't offend me personally, I'm very surprised Dreamworld are content to still have that word associated with the park in any way. Whilst I actually do find the ride a bit of a thrill, I completely agree with previous comments that the noise is horrendous, and it tears the park in half physically. It's got to go!
