  2. 100% agree, the theming in the driving school is half decent, although we have wild west, the likes of bermuda triangle and the Looney ride were wicked. I remember going on the triangle for the first time when It was near new, was the best ride most people I knew had been on

  3. Probably because an experienced theme park CEO wouldn’t want to go near Ardent/DW knowing the lack of investment/resources, the negative public perception and the mountain in front in terms of timeframe to begin to move forwards. They’d rather keep their rep in tact that be associated with a disfunction parent company who invariable control his/her ability to do the job right.

  4. The idea of an impressive show has only died for those who look at the money. The problem with both Ardent and Village is you have bean counters calling the shots, and there is no one creative directing the show. Just because HSD is 10 times cheaper to run than a proper stunt show like PASS doesn't mean that should be the reasoning that they go the cheap route. At Dreamworld, yes running a Steam Train is more expensive than running the diesel that replaced it (and no we won't go into that one finance wise), but someone who was thinking about the park and guest experience wouldn't have let it happen, not just because of the history behind the trains, but the guest experience and value they added to said experience. This is the problem with the Australian industry at the moment, TRR is just a scape goat that Ardent and Village are using.

  5. It was a whole lot more in keeping with the theme of the park, and much better suited to a theme park generally. The junior driving school is absolutely out of place.

  6. Dropped by LPS on Monday afternoon to check on the progress of Volare. Took these pics from the elevated green area on top of the carpark directly next to the Helter Skelter Cafe. Not a lot has changed , although you can see the framework for the rides base being built underneath. This is certainly going to be the best position for this ride in the park and having it elevated like this will certainly make for an great experience. The recently installed Light House is looking excellent and blends in well with the minarets of Coney Island in the back of the park. Nice. As nice as this area on top of the carpark currently is, I still maintain that it is an underutilised part of the park. If there was a way to connect this are to the midway below ( via a stairwell or rampway) then this area could be used in a far more utilitarian way. Given the weight of soil, turf and plant equipment that this site currently holds, I dont think weight would necessarily be an overiding issue, depending of course on what you wanted to place on the site! Looking forward to seeing the Volare construction continue apace!!! Keep those pics and updates coming!!

  7. Holy poop, well the tractor is certainly dead hey judging by that. Time for tractor reef, and maybe Dreamworld should focus on getting the steam train running again, or even the little Diesel engine they have so they can provide something to the guests. What a fail!

  8. If car stunts are deemed 'too expensive' due to insurance etc, they could use that arena for a new version of something they used to do in one of the studios or theatres (long time ago and went to various attractions in each, so not sure which). An outdoor show about how various special effects in movies are made.

  9. To get it back on topic, how about an Arkham Breakout themed Stunt Show in the area being renovated in this thread? A bit bigger in size than what we have seen on Main Street near City Hall, but not as big as PASS/HSD.

  10. It truly was something special. I remember talking to my school buddies around the time it opened and everyone was raving about it.

  11. bT was by far the best ride I've been on in Australia, and one of the best I've been on in the world! Memories of when Sea World was a great theme park!

  12. Given time doesn’t stop, the coming weeks actually describes every week from next week thru until the inevitable obliteration of our planet from a dying sun in 4 billion or so years... so id say they are on the money...

  15. I’d love to see a Huss top spin, I’ve only ridden one myself (and it’s commonly agreed upon that it’s the best top spin out there) but I found it a lot more enjoyable than Wipeout - even though they don’t have the lateral movement Wipeout has they are a lot less controlled and hence more intense - even though it would look similar to Wipeout, I reckon a Huss would provide a different enough ride experience to make it a great addition for MW, especially if they give it a great theme like some other top spins have.
