  1. I’ve heard that the first subject covered at the Training Academy is how to print, laminate and display “attraction closed” signs

  2. Nothing else has worked so it's time to play the distraction card. In a couple of years these newly highly trained staff will be unemployed.

  5. You guys are being a little harsh. This is perhaps the first sign of the park even attempting to be proactive and implement something thats probably going to be recommended in the coroners findings, well before the state government bangs their drum about training standards. If it means the staff actually get a proper orientation and theres some form of competency based training thats actually delivered and signed off on, then it can only be a good thing.

  6. Good to see them adding new seats.

  7. So, they've previously engaged a trainer and used a room onsite. They've now installed a sign over that room, rounded up some staff (in very cheap, thin shirts) and done a media release. Must have employed a former political media adviser.

  8. This might be news to some but anybody that can access Parkz also has access to DW's maintenance page. It's called the internet.

  9. Clearly you've never been to Melbourne Aquarium. If you did you'd know it's one big Aquarium which is easy to navigate. It was a planned Aquarium. Maybe you are confusing it with Aquarium, which is aquarium bowl lol. aquarium. Aquarium. *I am not calling anyone a dumbass. Just admitting i'm a smartass. Seriously though - too many places building slides, not enough places building coasters, amirite?

  15. So disappointed they didn't restore it, my family always stop in for a ride on the carousel whenever we stay in Broadbeach.

  16. Yeah to be honest a topic that's just about monitoring another webpage and re-posting it doesn't float my boat, but I won't stop it. It's only really good if it's unexpected maintenance IMO.

  21. I have a vision. A Dream, if you will. 10 years from now, rather than being merely Australias biggest theme park, it could be the WORLDS biggest chill space. In fact, to completely remove themselves from the negative association, they could even change the park name to "Chill-Space" (Quick. Trademark it now)! It would be very cheap for Ardent to run. No staff required. No rides. Minimum maintenance. Just a lot of benches and shaded areas, and most of the shade could be provided naturally by trees! Now people would surely come from all around the world to take selfies in the worlds biggest chill space, no? And with the modern international obsession with taking photos of yourself, I'm only half-joking! 😅

  22. I think @MickeyD was referring to parts within the ride, not the whole ride its self.

  23. The location works well in conjunction with the surrounding road infrastructure as it includes access from Peninsula Link, East Link, Frankston Freeway, Springvale Road, Dingley Bypass and the new Mordialloc Bypass which is set to begin construction soon. Those transport routes paired with the 20+ schools within a 20 minute drive seems like a safe choice to have a consistent customer base. The Cable Water park just down the road is swamped with families before 9am most summer mornings. The pools and slides at Frankston PARC (which is 15 minutes down the freeway) become so busy during the holidays that the casual swimmers are diverted to another local pool as a solution to trying to keep guests at manageable level. This water park in Dingley is a great idea and will grow very quickly - IF they have the right teams leading with provisional investments set aside for the future. Bring it on!

  24. Even though I live, work, eat, sleep, and love here every day all year round, I guess a guy from QLD knows more about my home city than me. My bad I'm just blind. BTW I already mentioned the crap traffic and weather not being perfect all year round.

  25. VTP would lose it if local or state governments actively invested in a competitor that would wipe them out. I can’t see it happening, and as a local I would have massive issues if millions let alone a billion dollars of tax payer money went to opening a theme park when we still have multiple schools with kids having to sell chocolates to get air con.

  26. It's not my cup of tea, but some people really love it - @Tim Dasco - to name one. The harnesses are a real selling point more than the height. Some people don't get the chance to fly to the east coast all of the time, so this is a nice alternative. Like Kraken, a lot of people wouldn't have experienced a ride like that in Perth. Yes, I would love less spin and spews.

  27. Same. Not my type of ride, but listening to the motors do their thing was always impressive to me.

  29. And yet none of the people you quoted defending Melbourne or agreeing with me are even from Melbourne. You've obviously got a chip on you shoulder and you aren't going to give it up. Your unfair prejudice and lack of impartiality means I'm clearly wasting my effort. Every major city in Australia have their own identities and things that make them great. Competing is just stupid. Good luck being angry at a city you don't even live in. That's on you.

  31. Hopefully it's just a quick removal of the ride rather than the whole area, would be nice for them to reuse the wave, shack/station and old surfboards that went missing a while back in the seating area. If you're not going to give us anything new then a reminder of what once was is better than nothing

  34. I found this pretty funny, I’m sure it is somewhat frequent but I haven’t been to dreamworld in years. The GD ride cycle after mine has been stuck for 10 minutes so far. Engineers just rocked up, wonder how long this lone bloke will be up there. I’m honestly very jealous, I love these unique ride experiences. Update: it’s been 15 minutes. How many engineers does it take to get this lone bloke down, 6 so far. Update 2: after 20 minutes was Very slowly lowered down

  35. Big difference between an hour two off an already late trade compared and what's in Australia.

  36. I'm not too bothered about the amount of rides closed or reduced hours. I just got back from a trip around china and went to a few parks (including Shanghai Disney, HK Disney and USS) . The smaller parks such as Happy Valley have half the park closed cause it is the off season and the rides that are open have reduced hours. Even both Disney parks and universal had reduced hours. I think we have been spoiled here in Australia the past 10 years or so.

  37. The train is fucked, putting it lightly. The sad thing is the Baldwin steam locomotive which is also sitting in the shed can run tomorrow if there was enough will to get it going. if the train does close, never to reopen, well there goes an attraction that everybody can ride and enjoy. Ontop of that, with no train there is no longer any transport attractions within the park. Yeah ok not every theme park needs transport rides, movie world survives without one, but Movie World is not as spread out and is a lot more flat when compared to dreamworld. If Dreamworld management want someone to run the steam train for them, give me a call

  39. Oh my god. 5 out of the last 8 posts. For gods sake settle down old son - you're going to make yourself sick... (and nobody wants to get sick in Melbourne... the constant bad weather will never let you get better!) It's quite amusing that you've argued your right to speak your mind, but continue to insult those who disagree with you. You told a person who had been to melbourne that they haven't been to melbourne. You then invalidated their opinion because 'they were more familiar with Sydney' You then claimed my comment was the 'most stupid comment i've ever read', and said it was immature and unfounded, and suggested I was a child Meanwhile, i've not said one derogatory thing directed specifically at you, and at worst, i've generalised about stereotypes, which is no worse than what has been said by you or others either. So - roll over onto your stomach to minimise butt-hurt. Have mummy apply some cream to soothe the burn, and avoid forums for at least 48 hours. Hey, it's not like i've made a secret of it - it's right there below my name. Try something new, will you? You're starting to make me think you're another Avatar of push the way you're going. ok everybody, repeat after me... Kum-Bay-Yah My Lord.....
