  2. I think people are forgetting that Luna Park Melbourne used to be home to a 2nd coaster in the form of the Big Dipper. This was added to the park in the 1920's and the Sydney example was a clone of this coaster. There is certainly more than enough room for a 2nd coaster within LPM- especially within the footprint left by the former Metropolis coaster, which in itself is in the footprint of the former Big Dipper. At one stage , the Big Dipper was slated to be replaced with the Titan Vekoma Bomerang coaster from Expo Park before the deal fell through and it went to Wonderland instead. There are plenty of coasters that would be a perfect fit for the park within that footprint including the aforementioned Zamperla Motocoaster, Maurer SC 2000 Spinner, a custom Gerstlauer Eurofighter would be ideal , a Premier Rides Skyrocket II, a Custom Mack Big Dipper coaster, S & S El Loco , Maurer Skywheel, Skyline attractions Skywarp, Zamperla Tunderbolt , S&S 4D Freespin could all concevievably fit into the park with some vision and planning. There is actually more usuable and flexible space to fit in another coaster at LPM than there is at LPS. Another coaster that has moderate thrills would be just the ticket for the park to add to its list of attractions. Some of its current ride roster such as Enterprise and Twin Dragon are getting older so some thoughts as to replacements would definitely be on the horizon. Obtaining another coaster at this time seems more than sensible and a coaster such as a compact Eurofighter would certainly catch the public's imagination. The Eurofighter model would be for mine, the best option , but a Sky Rocket II would also be an excellent addition. Have a look at the coasters below that could all fit into the space required at LPM - any of these would be great addition to LPM's lineup and should be well within their reach both financially and physically to obtain and fit into the park.

  3. If I am going on the train from Central Station to Parramatta, and I board the train at Central, I didn’t travel through Central station. I am not even complaining about the theming of the ride, it’s sufficient and better than most kids rides. my issue was the caption provided by MW makes it sound as if you travel through a separate area themed to a fireworks factory, or at least a noticeable portion of the ride is in a fireworks factory. Hence why I said it was an embellishment of the truth.

  4. Don't annoy train enthusiasts, they'll stand at a distance, awkwardly staring and mumbling something about numbers whilst wearing hi vis! 😂 Btw - I'm not one of those type of train enthusiasts. I've been fortunate enough to drive a steam loco for a day (my photo - complete with L plate), but I have no interest in counting train & carriage numbers and recording them in a diary, or building a model railway and running it like a real one. Each to their own, just not my thing.

  5. A drop tower would be more appropriate to put in LPM because of it's small ride footprint

  6. Don't worry I ain't no rivet counter either. Had the pleasure of driving those beasts also. Very enjoyable I must say. I do have an interest in the miniature engineering but that's about it. Gunzels annoy me also.

  7. The roof is DEFINITELY 'like a roof' - and that certainly looks like corrugated roofing, not floorboards, but the crates, the giant rocket, and the fact that the coaster train is several large rockets with seats in it, coming out of the 'factory' - AND given that the road runner animations are fairly simplistic... i'll accept the theme - its probably better themed than many other rides on the coast (green woodchips anyone?)

  9. To be fair just getting to experience the park at night is a unique experience for a lot of guests. Even Carnivale in the Summer barely has any night time with the longer days. Plus we don’t know what amount of ‘free’ theming and atmosphere there is to enjoy.

  10. They managed to fit a fairly large Wild Mouse in. I'm not saying it has to be a massive coaster, something like the Sydney Mad Mouse would be fine. I think a new Wild Mouse would fit into it fine.

  11. I don't think another coaster is the answer here. Sure people might miss and old attraction but the park does not have much room. Plus it is within a residential area. The scenic railway would help to dampen the noise from inside the park a little. I know enthusiast love coasters. But for a small park, the maintenance cost is a lot also. Plus you need extra staff to safely operate.

  13. Aside from the boxes of fireworks and a giant rocket you speed past? The roof isnt like a roof either, its like timber floorboards. Maybe the second floor of a fireworks factory? Its hardly disney or universal, but its not like they made no effort to the back story.

  16. Just to clarify what this award actually is... It is NOT an architectural award. It is NOT a design award. It is a 'construction award'. It was NOT won by Dreamworld. It was won by Alder Constructions. It is NOT national. It is given by Master Builders Queensland. It is NOT state-wide. It was only for the Gold Coast. The very specific category that it won was 'Tourism and Leisure facilities (on the GC) up to $10M.' In 2019 this category had no winner because it had no entries for the GC region. In 2018 it was won for the Woodroffe Hotel (Southport) In 2017 it was won for the Doomsday Ride at MovieWorld (who even knew?) The category did not exist prior to 2017. It is highly probable that this was the only entry for this category in the awards for the GC region, or that it beat out a surf club redevelopment (like the Sunshine coast region winner) or a Hotel Lobby redevelopment (like the Brisbane winner - Ovolo). This is not a prestigious award. This is a small, local award for construction companies to help promote themselves locally. I am sure the construction was challenging and they were likely given the award just for solving all of the technical difficulties with the retro-fit. But, as was discussed at the time and as @Slick said, the final result of the lumpy bulbous mess of a building is not at all like the promised renders, and the design of the building destroyed what was left of the park's entry statement aesthetic.

  17. If you want to have an thrilling roller coaster, you might just be able to fit in something like Steeplecase or Soarin' Eagle into LPM. But that is the most that you can get. This is because of the limited space available to LPM, because the park encircles Scenic Railway. So there really is not that many options available, not even an Eurofighter can fit in LPM!
