  2. It was discussed in the shareholders meeting that they are waiting on a new chain. With the state of international freight right now the delay is unsurprising.

  3. They're just wasting time and resources and they're going to have to tear it all down. Everyone knows they can't start building this coaster with local tradespeople. They have to wait until the GG specialists arrive!

  5. I prefer to think of it as Castle Glen, because there is alcohol involved.

  6. I remember seeing this article in the paper when i was just 10 years old and reading it with fascination and wonder. Of course the plans did not eventuate but I do remember that the coaster plans were by Arrow Huss. I just wanted to share this with all of you as this article has been in my brain for 30 + years and to finally see a digital copy is great. Given that there was fierce resident opposition even then this did not progress beyond pre planning stages but it certainly does present a huge "Oh what might have been" moment. The link to the article is HERE

  7. No delays here. Efficiency is the key remember.

  8. At this point, removing all of that old infrastructure would be an invasive and awkward mess. Easier to just leave it until you've got a proper plan to actually revamp the area.

  9. Too bad La Niña is on the way. Wet late spring/summer coming, floods and cyclones.

  10. Yeah GoGoBoy that is the real tragedy of LPM. We know Lindsay Fox bought LPM for a good price in the early 2000's and at the time he made LOTS of promises about its future- promises that included bringing back the old favourites including the River Caves, The Giggle Palace and the Rotor. None of these have ever eventuated nor were they ever spoken of again. Interestingly, at the time , the Metropolis was due to be replaced with a new coaster and this was planned for and even spoken of in media releases. It was due to be imported from overseas but for reasons not overtly known, it never occurred. Metropolis at the time was refurbed and installed as the parks 2nd coaster ( albeit with a new name and even though it had existed there since the early 1990"s) Lindsay Fox 's fortune is collectively and conservatively valued at close to a billion dollars - he certainly has the funds and the clout to really give LPM the makeover it deserves. Really?? It was a generic and very bland "carnie" coaster. The model is common even in Australia- there are so many better options to be considered. I find that interesting and perplexing at the same time mate. LPM, like LPS, is one of our historical gems. It should be visited just for the Scenic Railway and the magnificent PTC carousel alone. Yeah as it is, it is certainly underwhelming but its historical value and its charm does make it worth a visit to check out. Not denying that it certainly needs decent investment and a decent 2nd coaster would be a boon. Would love to see a Review Tyme video on LPM discussing the good the bad and the future sometime soon......

  12. ... or M&V are currently overseeing a local crew as was always going to be the case? Village have said outright that they have specialists here for the project. For what it's worth, my original point was that despite the incredibly simple construction of wooden coasters, the skill and IP is in successfully managing the project. I'd also hazard a guess that Taft had very well versed project managers out from the US overseeing Bush Beast in much the same way that M&V are overseeing a local construction crew.

  13. I think the challenge is finding a boat that simultaneously fits the geometry of that channel whist meeting the latest standards. My personal view is that by recycling that 100m stretch of trough, you are then locking in the current location of the station and various other aspects of the course, when you probably could do a better layout with modern elements if you just flattened it and stopped caring about a castle that looks like a motor inn.

  14. You don't get how the media works... Any mention of Dreamworld for years to come, court case or not, will usually get tagged with some reference to the incident. It's a bit how 'hard luck' family stories on the news as early as September start referencing 'just XX weeks before Christmas. Happens every year. The media just try to add more emotion to stories to get a reaction and I think it's quite likely the TRRR incident will continue - even if the park was bought by new owners, even if they changed the name - it'll still be 'the place where 4 people tragically lost their lives'

  15. Could Sea World potentially use the new-ish portions of Vikings Revenge to create a log flume if they demolished the castle? I wouldn't be against them building some sort of updated log ride at Sea World in the coming years.

  16. Luna Park Melbourne has never really been an interest for me when visiting Melbourne. I always saw it as an even lesser Luna Park Sydney. A good, quality coaster would definitely make me more interested in visiting when I visit Melbourne almost annually.

  19. For christ sake. They should have let the professionals do this. You cant get any simple local chippie to knock up a wooden roller coaster even if they have the plans. This could be expensive now.
