  2. Thanks for these photos. Im surprised at the size of the new Atlantis area. I didn't realise how much reclaimed land they took for this new area. I remember back years ago they wanted to make that a "Wild life" area with lots of non ocean animals. Hard to think the corkscrew was in the tiny pocket to the right of the jet rescue and the pirate ship

  3. Hey RR, I am a support worker and am at one of the parks at least once a fortnight with a client. It really depends on the operator how smooth the experience can be. In my experience, Dreamworld has actually been the easiest with disabilitys but seem more restricted on the amount of rides they will let my guys on. It can be frustrating for us to get different info from different operators so your best bet after your experience on RR would be to go to guest services and get the situation cleared up. It might take 10-15 minutes out of your day but they will speak with the manager of the day and get it clarified for you. As for the slides, are your mates able to help you on the tubes instead of mum and dad? I don't foresee any major changes to tube ride loading. One of my lads with CP struggles with stairs but damn he can run up those things when he wants to. Going to the parks with a support worker can help to. Im not sure of your age, but finding someone of similar age can be helpful - thay way its not obvious to my clients that they have a carer with them and they feel more comfortable being assisted by a 'friend' rather than mum and dad.

  4. Have a loading point like on Supertubes at WWW or the Breakers at RWS. A short belt that pushes rafts in. Many manufacturers offer this as an option. IMO if i had a park i'd make it the standard on anything involving a raft.

  5. It’s as if John Longhurst had figured this out 40 years ago.

  6. On balance, yes - all of your examples are correct assessments. I'm not disagreeing with you. I even said I think our parks will take the DCR route, and so they should. What I meant was, it's sad we won't see our parks take that big leap again. Sure, DCR is an incredible coaster, but what i'm trying to say though is that TOT, despite its many flaws and limitations, is what really put Dreamworld on the map. Despite the carnage it wreaked on the park landscape, it was the dawn of a new era for Dreamworld, and something that symbolised the park for over a decade. Granted, they lacked anything else really to take over the title - Cyclone was a worthy addition to the park lineup but not anything special, and the blue fire clone will be a worthy successor to the flagship title at the park. My sadness comes from the knowledge that anything our parks get will, pound for pound, be a copy of something else already rideable overseas. that's all.

  7. Spotted markings at the base of the Ex-Tumblebug/dodgem building today. (Sorry about the images, I'm not exactly a photographer)

  8. Depends on how many it kills I guess. This one was at Roma Street Station in 1898.

  9. Just in case its ever needed. Accessibility files for the parks. This seems like as good a place as any to put them. 11. Provided there are dates still available, there shouldn’t be an issue with redeeming them. But based off how quickly they’ve all sold this year, I don’t think there will be any left in two weeks

  12. Look I’m certainly not adequately informed or experienced to answer this question in detail other than to say from what I have seen this ISNT the case, and you’ve basically proven that yourself by stating you’ve had no problems on some of the hallmark rides in Australia like SE and DCR.

  13. As per the original tender, the train line will be moved to accommodate the new coaster supports/construction. The problem is that the new line looks like it'll struggle to make it up the incline it's been put on.

  14. Here is an update for the newly named Surf 'N "Play Aqua Park in Dingley Village. It has now been announced plans for a second only in the world surf pool installation- with what is being dubbed "Endless Surf" technology. https://www.pellicano.com.au/news/surf-pool-joins-plans-for-dingley-village-water-park-to-become-biggest-in-southern-hemisphere/ Video of the new park and concept art can be seen here: Main points left to bring this project to construction phase: The tweak to the plans comes as the wealthy Pellicano family behind the $100m project reveals their super-sized SurfnPlay Aqua Park is moving closer to reality, with just Kingston City Council to sign off on it after recent green lights from VicRoads and Melbourne Water. After addressing a range of request from government and environmental agencies, the only hurdles remaining are council approval and public consultation. This appears to be progressing ahead well and fingers crossed this gets to become a reality. Will be a huge coup for Melbourne if it gets over the line.

  15. I mean, you could have the tubes out of the water on a large conveyor belt, and then.. Nah. Scratch that.
