  1. On a related note, nice to see some creative marketing from the parks for Vortex. There are at least two of these in Brisbane CBD.

  2. Maybe after the marketing rounds are done they'll take the Poseidon bus shelter toppers and just scatter them around Atlantis

  3. I know we can't judge but if I was that traumatised from an incident, I wouldn't continue to work there for another 4 years before trying to sue them for compensation.

  5. Leviathan has definitely changed the skyline from the car park, but I wish they would fix the ugly and uninviting mess that is the front entrance to the park. It’s a horrible first impression

  7. Vortex nears completion, Leviathan towers as The New Atlantis nears opening at Sea World Despite a year of setbacks and delays, Vortex, the first component of Sea World's $50 million expansion is opening soon. Meanwhile the theme park's skyline is evolving dramatically as construction of the neighbouring Leviathan wooden roller coaster continues. Click here to continue reading

  8. Florida was booked for June, but refunds and credits applied for that. i think 2022 is probably the earliest I’d venture back to the US, just to give the new administration time to roll out the vaccine, and educate the populace enough for that to be effective (and potentially similarly here). If borders were open now I’d head over to Japan and/or Singapore without hesitation.

  10. Another day, another news limited article about DW. maintenance worker suing for over $300k due to being first on scene at the TRR tragedy, and another $300k after crashing a golf buggy last year whilst working there. don’t blame him for suing given what he witnessed, but if sights and sounds and large crowds etc now cause anxiety, i wouldn’t still be choosing to work at the place where that incident occurred. Suing your current employer for over $600k probably won’t do your future job satisfaction any favours. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/queensland/dreamworld-worker-sues-over-trauma-of-thunder-river-rapids-tragedy/news-story/ca4cc931005b3740cf47692702d4671a

  11. Village roadshow parks are overall going to be more forgiving than Dreamworld. Most of the Dreamworld issues come down to the fact that the seatbelts (supplemental restraints) are shorter than they used to be. Giant drop will be touch-and-go, based on EXACTLY where you carry the weight around your hips. Operators on GD are good at helping you get it tighter if needed, but if that seatbelt won't go in, you can't ride. If Giant drop is a close fit, don't even bother with The Claw. The seatbelts are WAY shorter than GD, and despite the harnesses locking in on much larger folk, if the seatbelt doesn't reach, you won't ride. Escape from Madagascar is in between Claw and Giant Drop, so if you can do Claw, EFM is fine. If GD is a struggle, be prepared for EFM to be tougher still. I've had no issues with anything else at Dreamworld, but i've not ridden Shockwave since the bondage harnesses went in, and i've never done Panda. Sky Voyager is quite accommodating. As for Movie World - If you make it on Giant Drop, Pretty much everything at Movie World will be fine. Rivals is the closest you'll come to not fitting - and again, the operators are good at helping you fit in if it is close. Scooby is the only other potential issue. The lapbar has several clicks before it locks. The front seat has more leg room. If you carry it in the tummy, lift it upand let the lapbar go under it so it presses on your legs, not the stomach. You'll know when you're all locked in because all the white lights on the operator's console will stop flashing and just be steady white lights. Operators will, again, do everything they can to get you to fit. They know all the tricks, they'll try all they can, and they're very discreet if you can't lock in. Don't be embarrassed if you don't fit. I'm a bit taller and a bit heavier than you, and Claw is the only thing i've not been able to ride. So try everything, let the operators help get you stapled in if you need it, and enjoy what you can!

  12. Mrs and I were meant to visit both Disneyland/CA and Disney World (And Kennedy Space Centre) in October. I think we'll hold off until 22, once Avengers Campus is up and running, and Galaxy's Edge is quieter. We should also be able to spend more than the 2 days we were going to rush at DL/CA.

  14. Haven’t been overseas in 20 years, was due for our first family trip to Disneyland this year Sept. at this stage we are thinking Sept 2022 but will depend on vaccine rules as I’m not jabbing my kid with a rushed vaccine with no knowledge of potential long term side effects. works out well with timing though as Super Mario World at USH is due mid 2022 and we’re a big Nintendo family so that eases the disappointment of missing this year somewhat

  15. I might not be the best person to speak on the matter since I'm from the COVID dumpster fire of the world, but I'm not terribly concerned about going abroad seeing how most places are doing better than us. I currently have an international trip booked for May. However, all my reservations are cancellable.

  17. Hopefully when they next change the lake show, they add an Atlantis theme to it, so the island can match with the new areas theme

  18. Yes I have been on the one at Alton and Riptide at Knotts and both soaked you like a water ride, which I thought was unnecessary. So if the SW one just has near miss fountains like Talocan I'll be happy.

  20. Tempted to delete this post for being so silly but seems some things need to be very clearly spelled out. Typically we try to take a hands off approach to moderating and let people be adults. So if one person be's stupid and swears at another one it'll likely get a pass. Believe it or not mods don't read every single post, and if it's rubbish for a few posts they likely get a scroll by. But if there is this sort of thing buried in amongst a bunch of other terrible stuff yes of course it'll get removed. I mean the fact that this sort of thing needs to be explained to satisfy a question like this is why whole threads end up getting deleted because it's just too much effort to deal with this kind of nonsense.
