  1. We finnaly have a date for the opening of the SX360. The ride will be launching June 18th 2021. The Ballroom Blitz is also expected to reopen at around the same time. According to the park, the Blitz undertook a major reconstruction overhaul which took longer than expected. Make of that what you will. The new spinning coaster, The Rat, whilst completed, is expected to open in the last quarter of the year. Given Aussie World's issues and longevity with opening the SX360, I won't be holding my breath. Still its good to finally see some progress happening on this attraction- Aussie World is a fine litttle park and when the new attractions are all open, it will be a great family day out.

  2. The next part of the expansion to the Big Banana waterpark has been lodged for a DA with the Coffs Coast council. The addition of a new Kids area and new tower complex with dueling raft slides will be a welcome addition to the small waterpark. The full article can be read HERE Below shows an overview of the new tower and duelling slides. This forms part of the expansion plans that were announced in December last year. The addition of the Plantation Alpine Coaster should be lodged as a DA by early next year.

  3. Why does everyone go so low ball when looking at new rides? They've built a Hypercoaster, SW are building a nearly 1km long wooden coaster as part of a $50million expansion with two other flat rides and DW a 1.2km launched coaster a couple of years after a big indoor dark ride. We've never had coasters this long or big. I think the parks have proved they have the budget to go big if they want to. Let's not think so small

  4. I've always thought a MadMax themed ride would be the way to go for Movieworld, stray away from the DC-Land it has become and use a different IP. Mad Max has new movies in the pipeline too. Honestly I don't see them going with a different Inverted/Suspended, just for the fact that it would be less marketable to the GP, a lot of people wouldn't even know the difference between an SLC and a B&M invert so I think it loses its draw a bit for the GP. I would love a nice forceful B&M invert, but I dont think it'll happen. I've often thought about a B&M Dive machine in that space but tbh I think anything B&M is wishful thinking considering their pricetag. My realistic guess is maybe a RMC Raptor seeing how cheap and popular they are at the moment, and ideally theme it to Mad Max, but then I wonder if Luna Park's single rail would steal the hype away from a Raptor at Movieworld. Second realistic guess would be a Skyrocket or Skyrocket 2 from Premier, they look pretty hot at the moment, Ice-Break looks like its gunna be a real hit. My dream guess is a big RMC Hybrid though ofcourse, they can't be beaten imo.

  5. It’s a new parade. You can sugar coat it all you like, but it’s just a new parade.

  6. @Jobe I understand you were being hypothetical, I just still maintain a large degree of scepticism about these locations apart from the amphitheatre steps, which I am 100% in support with you on that front. The Green space above the carpark I can POSSIBLY see something happening maybe, but it's the access below I'm having trouble envisioning, no matter how many times I've thought about it. If it wasn't an issue I would be in total agreement with you. And I personally don't think anything should be built next to the Rotor, even if the loading dock was relocated. I feel it would make the park look too cramped; I'd like to see some space between all the attractions. Only way I can see change happening here is if they move the Rotor to where the Hair Raiser is, the Hair raiser on the green space above the car park, relocate the loading dock and use the expanded space to put in that modern day equivalent of the Tumblebug you brought up; giant bug bridge and all. And don't get me wrong, I never thought for a second you had issue with the rides were currently getting; I was speaking more in general broad terms in their defence. Sure I would absolutely love another family ride to balance things out, but the kids rides that older people can ride on too are a pretty good selection as well. I wish they could've gone with more creative names but that's a whole other matter. To be honest, it really sucks how that my ride range is very limited. I've thought a few times about trying out the Wild Mouse or Volare but my anxiety is just too strong and I hate it. I love this park and yet I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of stuff because of stupid goddamn issues I find hard to control. It's probably why I want the River Caves back, apart from being one of the iconic rides of old Luna Park, it's a very slow moving dark boat ride which fits the park perfectly. And having been on dark boat rides elsewhere, I have loved them and want to see one here again. I hate the fact that I missed out on the fun of that ride! The closest we've got at the moment is the Penguin Expedition ride at Sydney Aquarium, which is great but it's VERY short. And look I know my solutions for bringing back the River Caves are pretty much impossible, even if they just took a tiny section of the sidings and put greenery on top to make it blend in with the Lavender Green surroundings better, but I'll be damned this is one dream I'm not gonna give up on! Put it somewhere, anywhere; the dodgem space, hell even underground, I just want them back. And clearly Metro Edgely did too when they reopened the park. I would hope that sentiment is still the same. I did point that out in another post of mine as well. I was just a bit more uncertain about it in my tone: But at least we both agree it needs to be moved and redone if it's gonna be a permanent ride. Otherwise, the only way I see this ride remaining in its current state is if it's a seasonal ride LPS brings out every school holidays. And then keep it in storage during off-peak periods. IDK, I love what the park is doing right now, but by good I hope this isn't the end of it. I'd love the rest of the place to be refreshed with consistent theming, more rides and a smart use of space that adds up to satisfying my OCD.

  7. Spot on mate - there's no gap \ trap here, but the lower siding compared to the checkerplate platform will create a small area lower than the rest. I doubt this ride is going far without a thorough risk assessment for every conceivable hazard, and it likely wouldn't take much to fill in that small section to make it the same height as the rest of the flooring.

  8. I think you'll find that the section you've circled is at the same level as the station, so there's no 'gap' to get caught in, but definitely a trip hazard due to the increased height of the center section of the carriage. ...unless I'm missing something else?

  9. I have i've been on RailBlazer at CGA. It's a great ride, very intense and packs a massive punch for such a small footprint. I'm looking forward to Big Dipper in the hope it will be just as intense.

  10. Trust is something lost in an instant, and it takes a lifetime to regain (and is never as strong as it was). The trust and faith I had in our parks in the mid-2000's has died and been replaced with a health dose of cynicism. I'll be very glad every time they pleasantly surprise me, but its probably a ways off yet before they've done enough to establish a new status quo.

  12. YVAN EHT NIOJ! I would have loved to have seen them release something like this without the suits in the front row. Like - kudos to them, i'm sure they've played a massive role in bringing this all together but they're just nameless faces. I realise it's only a linkedin post but its still public and accessible. New phone, who dis? I wouldn't go so far as to say 'this brings it back'. It's a start... but they've spent the last 15 or so years removing every last vestige of movie magic from the park and replacing it with 'slapped on logos'. I will agree with you though that it is a 'step in the right direction'. If this is enough to get on your nerves, I know of a facebook group I can recommend for you... Yeah, sorry bud - but she's right. They aren't impersonating Mike Myers portraying Austin. They're just portraying Austin. Simply because Austin has only been played by MM, doesn't mean anyone else portraying the character is impersonating MM - Otherwise, Tom Cruise impersonated Mike Myers portraying Austin in Goldmember.... nope. Just an actor, playing a part in a movie, in a movie. ...And with all that said.... who cares? just call him "The guy dressed as Austin" and nobody gets hurt. You've said this twice now. I get the feeling you REALLY want someone to ask you what it is you know, but you're not revealing it either because you can't, or you don't want to. Either way, the nature of "I know something you don't know, but i'm not telling" on the forums here goes down like a lead balloon. I mean - Mike has posted it on his socials and tagged it with the park. Clearly the park isn't keeping it under wraps if management are putting it on socials so... i'd say this is your reveal...

  13. Agree 100% here. What is extremely gratifying is that, despite the pandemic, the level of local investment in the industry in Australia is so healthy right now. When you look at the big investments on the Gold Coast with SeaWorld and Dreamworld plus the Aussie World expansion, the $30 million dollar LPS investment that came right out of left field, the earlier Jamberoo additions and now this announcement, its great to see our amusement industry bouncing back from what has been a frightful year. All we need now is a major announcement for Luna Park Melbourne, for the Melbourne trio of parks of Funfields, Gumbayuh World and Adventure Park plus another announcement for Adventure World in Perth to really shake the foundations! And the way things are progressing in the current landscape, it would not be unfeasible to think that one of these parks will also add to the growing list of parks in Australia with major expansion plans. Good for amusement parks Australia, good for confidence within the industry and good continued overses recognition , of which, thanks to the Dreamworld/SeaWorld/LPS announcements, has never been higher. Who knows what the next 12 months will bring for the amusement park industry of Australia?

  15. You are right but most families visiting are gp and probably wouldn’t know about the ride unless they went to the very back corner. it shows most of the time I go there the queue is usually only 15mins max.
