  1. Also, I’ve been accepted as a rides attendant tonight for Luna Park! Training starts soon! Ever since I started playing RCT3 and watching Theme Park Review on youtube 13 years ago, I never imagined it would be this real! Dreams do come true guys haha!!

  2. I just saw the ad on tv for this story. What the biggest load of bullshit I’ve seen. Why the hell are they making this story. Every time you step outside your house, you put yourself at risk. There is no need for this story. The DW incident was 5 years ago. We don’t need to keep reminding people of it. And we definitely don’t need to tell everyone that you might die when you go to a theme park

  4. People are not constantly dying at theme parks however, nor is there constantly serious accidents. There has been one major well publicised (TRRR) and one not particularly well known (GL) "accident" this century. More people have been killed by dogs in the last 3 years than have died in Australian theme parks in the past 30. It's a fluff/hype piece timed inextricably just before school holidays when theme parks are their busiest. The producers clearly couldnt find enough material to base it purely on Australia (plus no one wants to hear anything else about bloody TRRR), so they've gone international where safety standards and requirements differ to what we have here - but the average consumer probably does not know that, so it becomes a "if it happened over there, it can happen here" thing. They'll probably show the phone-filmed footage of that pendulum ride collapsing in India a couple years back, and fade it out to show The Claw..... just so it grabs attention

  7. ^I think though the difference comes down to @Slick's old adage - a replacement has to be better than the original. I know there's some debate on some Universal attractions, but I think overall, the park's lineup today isn't suffering like MW's is.

  8. Probably safer to go Bingo Card on this one instead of Drinking Game.

  10. I'm so lost as to the reasoning behind why you think this is bad. We've seen increasingly that they're opening up the park later, and night time events are clearly part of the long term future plans for the park. Why would adding something permanently that lights up and also looks good during the day be a waste? Best attraction is obviously open to huge amounts of debate, but Superman, Rivals, West and Scooby to me are about the best rides the park has ever had. I think there is room for a slow dark ride to be added; of the 4 the park has had (Toons, Gremlins, Batman Justice Leauge), JL is unfortunately the weakest. Add another ride like that which takes a solid 20mins to go through and has a proper preshow/story and I think the balance of the park is close to being spot on. The only things I miss from the old days are the 2 opening day Stunt Shows (which I would instantly forget if HSD was good) and the studio tour. Everything else that's gone was very 'meh' to me.

  14. I hope you don't work. 3,751 workers were fatally injured while working from 2003 to 2018. Working kills. Millions of people go to work expecting to make money and be bored out of their brains, not lose their brains. Your argument can be made about anything.

  15. Might've actually shit myself watching this, that thing looks insane! Also big ups on that new role you're taking up mate, great to see people living out their dreams 🙌

  16. I respectfully disagree. Ill Probably get flamed for this, but. Movie World I feel hit it’s peak just after Batwing was installed. Everything else has been average at best. Rivals, GL, yes, great killer coasters, but they aren’t anything overly unique in the way super man, and Scooby were. Doomsday is a complete waste of space. The park has lost so much of its original magic, like Dreamworld has. Reality is, it’s turning more and more into a six flags park with every addition, and it’s quite sad.

  17. When DW install new lights I'll praise them, private events happen and they've also tried to make night trade more of a thing, so bring on permanent install lights and do it properly. Actually I drove past at night the other night and had the thought that they should put some lights on Steel Taipan Construction since you really can't see it at night.

  18. Like SW adding lights to only be seen a few nights a year? It looks great but it's only useful when there's actually people in the park and it's turned on. Look, if DW had installed a fancy lighting package like that, I'd be shitting on them too. It would be great if it was a sign that the park was pushing for even more night events or the park being open longer but as always, the local residents stop any fun happening after 5pm. I fully agree that the ride offerings at MW currently crap over anything the park has offered before. Yes we may have lost some classics and we may never see rides like them again but when you look at what we have now, we are pretty lucky.

  19. Again, what are people getting at here? You know that all the parks invest in having lighting right? MW also is open quite a lot at night compared to what they were historically, and far more than all the other parks. Why shouldn't they add lights? Thing is it isn't like all the replacements have been worse though. Sure JDS isn't as good as River Ride, and HSD isn't as good as PA, but Scooby is better than Gremlins. JDS is about on par with the second bat ride, (though not as good as OG Batride), Superman is better than special FX show. Not to mention Green Lantern, Batwing, Doomsday, West and Road Runner are better than nothing. Lethal Weapon was also better than nothing so that's fine. If that's the pedigree, it's OK to say 'Remember this that used to be awesome?' because the park backs it up. You couldn't do that at DW for example, because not only is the magic gone, but there is a really piss poor collection of rides to back it up. MAYBE when Steel Taipan opens and you get a log ride replacement, you can start being nostalgic, but for now it just reminds people of a better time. SW is a similar story, though I don't think quite as dire. At MW it's more about 'Hasn't the place changed?' than 'Look how shit the place is now compared to what it used to be!' I would also argue that MW now is better than at basically any other point in it's history. It's a long way off perfect, and it could do with 1 of those old style rides just to balance things out, but the stuff that's there now, on balance is far better than what used to be there. That's not true of the other Gold Coast theme parks. SW & DW are hopefully on the upward from being at their lowest, & WnW just 'is', but MW is a far better park than it was at any other year you could name for my taste. Standing by for 'Parkz mods are biased' comments for expressing my opinion

  20. Hey guys, we've got this amazing lighting package. You can only properly experience it about 4 times a year when we are open at night and have it running. We're the best right?

  21. It'll be clear what the intent is if they even bother to reach out to the parks directly I reckon. My bet is on them stealing footage from a bunch of enthusiasts, showing plenty of footage from the TRRR coronial inquest, referencing Luna Park's Ghost Train incident (with at best a passing reference to the ABC's doco) and then maybe getting in one or two industry hacks and interviewing them to get the soundbites they need. Hell, it's almost worthy of a bingo card.

  22. I presume so and I agree with that sentiment too - it's pretty drab, as is Wet 'n' Wild's entrance from the highway.

  24. The first time I went there it was the Batman ride. I wasn't quite sure why at the time, but I still to this day remember being absolutely blown away by the quality of the video on the screens in the library seen. Turns out they were HD screens a long time before they were mainstream consumer devices. Years later when I went with my wife, I was chosen for the Memphis Belle segment of the Studio Tour. I'm a big guy (tall and wide, a winning combination), so the jacket only came half way down my torso and the hat balanced on my head instead of going over it. I imagine I looked completely ridiculous, but at least it would have been entertaining to everyone else. Honourable mention to the Road Runner Coaster, which was my then 4-year-old's favourite ride at all three of the parks we went to. She went on it probably 7 times in a row. She has a good time = I have a good time.

  31. Just saw Sledgehammer testing and WOW! When I saw it’s gondola swing above Coney Island I just ran! Looks so awesome! Got a little vid, absolutely nothing compared to how it looks in other videos (cause of Boomerang and Loopy Lighthouse blocking a perfect view). Still though, video doesn’t do this justice.
