  1. Have you ever been to a county fair? Tacky as showbag stalls are basically the bread and butter for those shows. A good execution of a bad theme (in this case country fair) does not make it good, but it certainly fits what they're aimed for even though that still doesn't make it good. At no point in the link that you provided did they promise a custom built show bag stall that fits your expectations. They promised showbags, we got showbags. You're exactly right, neither have any place in a theme park but here we are. However I'm interested to know your mental gymnastics as to how a Boost Juice food truck in the middle of Movie World's turn-of-the-century US Main Street is any better than Dreamworld's beyond the fact that almost every single one of your posts seems to be a Dreamworld bash.

  3. To our taste! we gotta be so grateful that we are even getting such a coaster in Sydney. While a different train would be nice having this world-first at LPS is truly amazing. How management pulled this off we will never know but we must be thankful.

  4. I'm both disconcerted and disappointed that you're openly talking about stealing other people's work. I watched the trailer for "This is how we Roll" and preordered it for two reasons: it looks like something I will enjoy, and I want to support a project that by all accounts has been a great deal of work over an extended period. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised; I've been getting harsh feedback because I have the audacity to charge $0.99 for a version of Solitaire I developed for iPhone :/

  5. Construction of the station/maintenance building has begun. Screenshot from Jaggs Journeys video On a side note, how awful is the parks entrance looking

  6. I dunno how you can complain in other posts that they have been giving away the gate, but $99 for a pass is too expensive. Even with some rides gone, $99 for a an AP is pretty good, and its still better than Adventure World. Honestly surprised ST isnt enough to bring you back? Why not? Blue fire is fucking awesome and you're missing out by not riding the only new coaster on the GC in 4 years (And the most recent Multi looper since Abyss in 2013) I mean I'd probably pay $99 for a one day ticket if APs were not available, that's how good Blue Fire was.

  7. The park map is on the website now, it looks fantastic! https://www.lunaparksydney.com/how-to-get-here

  8. Both of these are dreadful. Both parks have the ability to sell these types of things in themed storefronts/food outlets but instead bring in an external company to do so, completely throwing what small iotas of Immersion our Parks entrance areas had left.

  9. There are some interesting things happening in our parks at the moment. I don't hate the showbag truck at Dreamworld because it's on brand for their county fair event, but slapping a boost truck on Main Street in Movie World for no reason is incredibly poor show.

  12. I miss those hand-drawn maps of yesteryear.

  13. This is a good example of when it's done right. The trucks are themed appropriately to the event and isn't some random Boost Juice van plonked on the street or a Royal Show truck with stock graphics plonked in the entrance plaza. A custom graphic on the DW truck would have been nice, for example.

  15. So put them in buildings. Both parks have underutilised areas that could be fit for purpose. This just smacks as doing things on the cheap. It's tacky as all hell.

  16. By bringing in 3rd party venders the parks are not paying wages and the on cost of wages, renting out space and receiving a % of sales. As time goes on, I think we will see more 3rd party venders in our parks. Park in the US do it, even Disney.

  17. Which is honestly what our parks should be charging at the GC with similar inclusions/restrictions

  18. It's still crazy to me that if you live on the Gold Coast with this deal you can get Season Passes to both major Providers, 5 total Theme Parks for $169. Here in Sydney I'm contemplating paying $199 for a Luna Park annual pass...

  20. I know its been a while, but the park did used to sell showbags in the exit market hall. It honestly was pretty dingy and I prefer the parkway - even if it doesn't get used anymore for what was intended. I'm prepared to cut slack for the showy trucks on the basis that some of their biggest sources of income for the year have been destroyed by the pandemic, and by permitting them to temporarily set up in the park as part of an event in which it suits the overall theme - i'm going to give them a very low level pass, purely for helping their cousins in industry. Janine Allis' Boost Juice Empire, on the other hand, can fuck right off. Just my opinion.

  21. How far have our theme park standards fallen when Royal Show-level trucks can just be plopped in like this? The MW example is more egregious as it is a big green truck that breaks the presentation of main street but DW's truck is still tacky. LPS sells showbags in its own dedicated building so why can't DW do that in the main gift shop?

  22. Even without a deal, wouldn't you still get a $99 pass to try Steel Taipan? What's the point of being a theme park fan if you're not going to go ride a massive new launch coaster from one of the worlds best manufacturers?

  23. Some of the advertising i've seen around today on this is a bit misleading - but they do eventually point out that it also only applies to residents of the gold coast postcodes. Honestly at this price point it would have convinced me to get back onboard as I don't think it's worth full price right now, but despite living closer to Dreamworld than half of the gold coast, i'm not a 'local' for this particular special price. I get that it is offered by an alternate organisation, but being posted by the park's own socials didn't make that very clear until it rejected my postcode. The terms of the pass you scroll through specifically state that the locals pass is valid for QLD residents, only to reject your postcode further down the transaction. We were set to buy 4, and with plans to stay on the coast at the end of October lining up with their Halloween event, we were already discussing attending that, what extras to buy and how long it had been since our last visit that there was a whole bunch of things my 5 year old could now ride - and now we're back to square one with zero interest in paying full price for their current offering. I realise this is a certain level of entitlement, but its the feeling of being mislead with a 'gotcha' hidden further down the track that pisses me off.

  25. I do believe the last time we saw coaster testing there was mention that the ride had to complete 100 cycles, or 100 hours, or some sort of milestone before it could carry people. or guests. or something like that. Perhaps now they've completed their first runs they've got some running data to tweak things - change some wheels over to increase\decrease speeds, or perhaps they're waiting for the other train\spinner for the next tests? They've got plenty of time, but I doubt we're seeing it these school holidays.

  27. Looks like the park is tentatively reopening on the 23rd of October, day tickets have just become available today for that date, where yesterday the tickets just said "coming soon". Appears to be only open for 5 hour sessions, with the first few weekends expected to have a day session 11am-4pm and then a night session for Halloscream.

  28. The shame is on the park for not putting money aside for the upkeep.

  29. While they have their 'full price' tickets priced above $99, I still think of $99 as "full price" when it comes to dreamworld because they've done nothing to increase the value - only the cost. I think i've been very clear over the past couple of weeks that ST probably isn't enough to bring me back to the park right now: As I said above, the $50 price tag easily tipped the scales over to make the decision easy, but back at $100 - that's $400 to shell out essentially to ride ONE ride - and not everyone in our group can ride it. And sure, i'm a theme park fan, no doubt. I'm keen to ride it. I just can't justify it solely to ride it first. Buzzsaw lasted 10 years. I'm sure Taipan will still be there in 6 months to a year when the offering (or the company) improves.
