  1. It had been about 3 weeks since I went to the park and checked out the progress. It’s looking fantastic. I’m going to say I think this is one of the most nicely presented coaster on the GC. Not necessarily best themed, but best looking. It’s really well done. They’ve finished the structure that hides the first aid doors. They’ve finished the fencing behind the entry sign (which looks great) and removes the orange on orange issue. And they haven’t installed any boring fencing around the entry/exit paths.

  2. That's one of the hazards of running a park year round, you don't get a big off season to work on this stuff.

  3. The new meerkats exhibit has been really well done. And is split across three levels. The new cafe is a nice setup too

  4. Luna Park confirmed to be reopening on October 22nd for Halloscream and then will have it's first day trade the next day on the 23rd. I'll be there opening weekend for sure, excited to try out 8 of the 9 new rides! https://events.bigtopsydney.com/event/halloscream-9-curse-of-the-coven-2021?fbclid=IwAR0Nd9faVI757KMIJDPr4LQouLID4I9ESR4rNEnlStFysMrg9mkv2U0A2iU

  5. If only there was a thread, or a youtube video explaining why Disney (and even Six Flags) won't be building in Australia (yes, even in Sydney) anytime soon. I agree the Badgery's Creek Airport is RIPE for someone to come in with a greenfields plan - but I think you need to revise your expectations to a more 'plausible' level. Just for the record - i'm a grouchy bastard naturally and it has nothing to do with age. Jobe is older than me and is one of the nicest guys in this community that I know. You've been here 17 years and contributed an average of 6 posts a year. I honestly don't think we're going to miss your offering of 'real feedback'. I've been here 17 years too, and in that time I don't think there's been another person (that wasn't a troll) that was so categorically unwilling to accept that anyone else would have a different point of view. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Adios.

  6. @pazzap I agree with @Brad2912, I’m just 18 even I know that’s pretty damn low. I really like this discussion, and hope for an awesome park through speculation is harmless fun in these shitty times. The fact you went out of your way to insult this guy shows a massive lack of maturity and self-awareness. Age is just a number, and just because you are 50 or older, doesn’t mean you are god. Your arrogance shows that. Please act better here my dude. 🙏🏻 Also, I love the idea of a park situated in Hunter Valley Gardens, gives me an Alton Towers sort of vibe! A coaster surrounded by awesome greenery would be breathtaking, definitely something Aussies would be proud of! If Merlin could turn a castle and it’s gardens into a theme park, I’m sure it could be a hit here.

  10. Mate if you are going to post rubbish or opinions that contradict other posts you have made expect to be called out on it. If this is your reaction then its a really immature one, given your years. As for calling me a troll, well that couldnt be further from the truth. I have been on these boards for a long time, longer than you in fact and my reputation speaks for itself. I am happy to listen to anyones opinion and always treat it with respect unless it is just plain incorrect. Most posters get my respect straight away and there are others who have been here for some time and who I know are quite knowledgeable and can communicate easily without resorting to plain arrogance. You have already been called out by several of these respected posters quite eloquently so I think that the term troll really sits comfortably with you at this point in time. Happy to just leave it at that.

  11. Its because its just such a non event. A huge show building that just doesn’t deliver. They really got the whole ride backwards and totally wasted the spectacular splashdown. Add to that it’s them is intentionally to look crap and it really didn’t live up to a worthy replacement. A largely unthemed but well presented version of this ride at the front of the park like originally intended would have been great. But Storm is just a kind of expensive ‘meh’

  13. Yep, to me Bermuda was the perfect blend of Flume Ride and Dark Ride, where Storm isn't quite a full coaster or a full dark ride experience. It's the classic everything's replacement should be better than what it's replacing. If Storm went where the Battleboats are now it would have been better recieved by Enthusiasts I feel.

  14. The Arkham sign was briefly removed but it keeps on coming back And I’m not sure about the superman thing but I assume the 2nd train is out of action Just checked my old photos and yes the cactus 🌵 were around the roadrunner rollercoaster before it’s refurbishment

  17. I'm still anticipating SW take up my suggestion and go with a hoop as the crowning piece. It will be impressive to watch dolphins jump though the hoop. SW will perhaps train the dolphins to give Justice for Captives the fin as they soar through the hoop. If a dolphin can't reach the height, I would be fine with SW shooting a dolphin out of a cannon.👍

  18. Nah - they'll put something up there. Judging by the changes we've seen to the Vortex design, and the Leviathan theming, my guess is when the tower goes up, instead of a three pronged trident, we'll get the 12 pronged rake!

  19. Oh my young padawan. Dreamworld let the Eureka Mountain Mine Train stand, not operating, from 2006 to 2017. The motivation to do ANYTHING with it was probably born out of the loss of Thunder River and the need to either restore it to operating condition (a ludicrous concept by park management) or to demolish it (as the rest of Goldrush needed to be anyway). As for not having a new attraction in 4 years - bear in mind that two of those years was in a pandemic, and the parks suffered numerous shutdowns in that time Movie World is part of a group - and as long as i've followed these parks, the parks have usually taken it in turns to get something new (although Wet N Wild suffered for a few years from lack of attention) BOTH of the other 'ride' parks in the chain - SW and WNW are seeing new attractions constructed this year. Atlantis was supposed to be finished last year, and WnW was this year's plan. Which means MW's next attraction may not be far off (although do bear in mind we've seen a lot of refurb work going on too - RoadRunner is about to open with a new train and ride system). Steel Taipan Vs. Leviathan - putting aside any issues or delays with construction - just comparing the actual ride that will eventually open - 'much better' and 'modern' aren't really any sort of justification. Wooden coasters are being built every year around the world. They are traditionally older technology but that doesn't mean the current rides being built are old. Each have their own points of difference. I think it will be a very hard thing for even the coast's most astute enthusiasts to categorically state one is so much better than the other - just 'different' and 'in their own way'. It does remain to be seen however - so passing judgment now, whatever the outcome, is foolish. Anyhow - with all that said - I don't see how you can justify that MW will be declining in 10 years time, simply for the reasons you state. In the past 5 years, Dreamworld killed four people, and removed (or will soon remove) 7 or more attractions, and have only installed two new ones, and yet, with that track record, you're saying Dreamworld is on the rise, and this is apparently and ostensibly because of Steel Taipan? One coaster does not a good park make. I'll leave you with this - 10 years is a long time. 10 years ago - Movie World opened Green Lantern. Also 10 years ago - Dreamworld opened Buzzsaw.

  21. Wasn’t sure if I should create a new thread or not so I’ll just put it here. But trident is on site. It’s great to finally see some progress. Seeing as though they haven’t started the foundation yet it might be a bit till it goes vertical. Thanks to themeparkqueen_au on Instagram.

  22. Yall hating on the path but I think its great, atleast they did something other than a plain path, and give that a few months of wear and grit and i think it'll actually look good with a bit of fade. The area is shaping up to look really good in my opinion especially for DW standards.

  25. I am putting you ignore as you are obviously going to be like a dog with a bone, so this is the final time I will acknowledge you, ever. I bag Zamperla everywhere, badly, as I think they make the worst coasters in the world (well some of them), but I've always excepted this one.. cause it's an, UM, exception. Look up the word and its meaning Goodbye troublemaking troll. Yeah I realise it's impossible and the coaster supports are specific for the terrain, but I am surprised you had a bad ride on it. That said, I respect your opinion. I was literally out of my seat on both the main drops, the second one was sustained better than some hypers, and it was smooth. Maybe it aged poorly, my ride was a decade ago. Although TPW rode it a couple years back and he loved it also.. Any coaster can have a bad day, and maybe that's what you had, or maybe not. I was just dreaming cause I hate the fact they closed it (and quite a few more of their good rides). I have no nostalgia for their arrow looper and glad they closed that POS though LOL! For me the most important thing at Dreamworld now is water rides.. they closed both.. Whitewater World having slides is a different thing, not everyone at a theme park wants to get into their bathers and do water slides. Maybe a Mack powersplash, or an all new log flume, something like Dudley Do Right. I know they will never get a rapids ride again cause obvious reasons and it will be a reminder, but a good log flume or water coaster is what I have my fingers crossed for Dreamworld next. They already have two family coasters, please no third one. Have you ridden Thunderbolt? They are horrible, truly. They HURT. I'd rather ride a rough woodie than those 2 things again. The way my brain rattled made me nauseous, and that's almost impossible to make me sick on a ride, but that managed it.
