  1. They should play a sound track of workers using tools, so it sounds like they are working on it

  2. Someone forgot to add the water dummies to the train. Now it's stuck Now! No more tests for today and probably the weekend.

  3. It's down to a handful of track segments now. The train has been winched out of the station and is up in the maintenance position. Really cool how much the reverse spiral on steel taipan stands out now

  4. And to continue the equine abuse - WhiteWaterWorld opened in 2006 - yet Thunder River was super popular right up until the day of the incident - so popular that the park was making decisions to keep the ride operating when they perhaps shouldn't. Log ride likewise had high patronage right up until the bondage roofing was installed. The difference between DW and AW (that I can tell) is that one is a theme park, and one is an 'action park' hybrid - the waterslides and pools are intermingled amongst the other attractions to a point where the park has to accept that wet shorts are going to ride the rollercoaster because to ask patrons to get changed first would just be plain stupid. Nobody wants to walk around a dry park like Dreamworld in the South East Queensland humidity in damp (and rapidly warming) swimwear. I don't know about the weather over in Perth, but here in SEQ, that's a sure-fire pathway to Swamp-Crotch.

  5. Just to beat the dead horse further, for large part of its history DW had a water park not just next door, but literally included as part of the park, 2 water rides where you got wet, as well as a boat ride where you stayed dry. Water rides are popular. I don't think DW should build a rapids ride, but a quality modern log ride or shoot the chutes would be a pretty easy win.

  6. Or alternatively, video footage edited out and uploaded here. Full cycles should be coming any day now or maybe we might get something out today once the launch calibration is completed Untitled.mp4

  7. They have started testing out the launches, they sent a video (which unfortunately I’m not allowed to share) but they are calibrating the boost launch (2nd launch) today, getting rollbacks but I guess that’s procedure (as well as it would already have speed from the first boost lmao). So pumped for this coaster!

  8. Look it is literally the first day of testing and they have tried to calibrate the launch system which has resulted in a valley. Cut LPS a bit of slack, still at least more than a month away till opening and you are already sledging them

  13. Bruh DW and SW had water parks for most of their history in parallel with the log rides. Heck even SW the old slides were on the same castle as the flume ride. Not everyone wants to muck around getting into swimmers, sometimes its just fun to ride in boat.

  14. @Baconjack Does that mean you don't think DW should have built ST because Gold Coaster already exist?

  15. A hot take here but there is no reason to add a log flume when WWW exists as a second gate literally next door that is covered in the price of admission. There's a reason there's been a trend towards parks getting rid of them in recent years. It would make more sense to put in a dark ride or a family thrill coaster (such as a spinner) if you want to put a family ride in (which I agree DW needs to look to next). Both would be better (and far more unique) additions.

  16. The question now is who is going to trawl all the various council websites to determine which Aussie park has lodged a DA for it... the challenge is on! Look at those horrible blank walls by the launch! how terrible they didn't theme those walls!

  17. I'd rather have a custom family thrill water ride than a thrilling water coaster to be honest. Yes Dreamworld is lacking in thrill attractions but they are also lacking in family thrill attractions. A custom log flume will also give Dreamworld the chance to expand it's snake themed area and draw more families towards that area too. Dreamworld's main theme is Australia and there are many places to theme a log flume to in Australia. I would see a Ultra Surf better fitted in Ocean Parade rather then Rocky Hollow.

  19. That's simply not true. Here's an article from a reputable news source. Here's their data. Vaccines lower transmission rates and enormously lower your risk of death if you are infected. Here's another article from another reputable news source. Here's supporting data. You are correct - it's 100% a choice. Societies are full of choices - when you get on a road, you agree to the rules we as a society agree upon (don't drink and drive, don't speed etc.) - if you don't like those rules, you're welcome to challenge them and/or simply choose not to participate. The thing I loathe about the "democracy is over because they're forcing me to get vaccinated" argument is that while everyone is protesting about faux government over-reach, the government is actually over-reaching and no one is blinking an eye about it.

  20. About time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 As of 17th Dec, folks need to be fully vaccinated to enter Queensland anyway so it'll affect a whole lot of 0% of interstate travellers. As for Queenslanders, if you're part of the tiny fraction of folks who think vaccines are bad, speak to a trusted GP and get vaccinated. Vaccine hesitancy and vaccine mandates aren't a new thing. All in all, i'm very doubtful it'll impact business in a meaningful way, and these kinds of mandates have shown to increase vaccination rates, which is a really good thing.

  22. Can confirm there's a little train in there that used to go semi-regularly out onto that little bridge. I'm almost certain it's on a basic timer from memory. It's essentially just a little circular model train track that plugs into 240v. Was working up until Happy Halloween 2019, it was unplugged for lights and wasn't plugged back in. I think i've pointed it out once or twice before on here and usually Dreamworld are pretty good in taking feedback from here and using it to improve the park, so there's probably a good reason why it's not running again yet (probably the overgrowth). Fun fact - neither the train or the climbing fig were opening day touches. Not sure if they're a later John Longhurst addition or not, my guess would be yes given how nuts he is about trains. I've added some photos of the station in from one of the books John's loaned me. Would love to see it return to these more traditional colours too, along with the hanging baskets etc.
