  1. I finally got to return to the park for the first time in months this evening which was a perfect opportunity to see the current status of LPS with my own eyes. I took photos (duh). First, the Big Dipper: I also took a video of it undergoing a test run: IMG_6274.mov Next, a few outside shots of "Luna Land". I noticed that unlike the midway, the music playing was contemporary pop music (Sledgehammer had, well, Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel for example which is hilarious considering how innuendo ridden that song is and it's playing at a family destination lol), which would suggest this section of the park is going for a more "modern" flavour. Apart from lack of theming and bridges the fact that a banner for Luna Land was erected instead of a proper sign as was proposed in the concept art seems to suggest that they ran out of money to add more desired embellishments at this time: I also got video of the Boomerang in action: IMG_6273.mov Thirdly, the Wild Mouse track looks to be intact again though I'm sure restoration and repair is still in progress. You can tell which parts of the structure have and haven't been overhauled: And finally a photo of what's sure to make many LPS history buffs cream themselves, restoration of the original Big Dipper carriage has been making great progress: (Side note: I also took these of the workers walkway passing under the Big Dipper. I still think this section of path should be opened up to the public to make it easier for disabled access and to make Luna Land more connected to the rest of the park in general)

  2. Here's the raw video! Something of note, is that the CG bits of people riding, are actually in Europa Park rather than Dreamworld. You can see Wodan right in the background as they go down the midcourse break run. It looks just like this! Kinda funny, but good advert. Facebook video #200040588958621-200040588958621.mp4

  3. Just a suggestion, folks. If you're going to add a snappy comment... give it some thought before you click on "Submit Reply". Maybe even wait a few minutes before clicking it. The claimant's story is pretty harrowing, if true.

  4. the advertisement from facebook has now been uploaded onto instagram, the amount of effort they’re putting into promoting this ride has to be one of the best Australia has seen. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWz-Ghwt5u_/?utm_medium=copy_link

  5. I do hope it is true because it will be great for that park. But it isn’t offical until Gumbuya announces a new ride is coming

  6. 'Official' and 'Theme Park Social Network' are not two words that go together. If true, it's fantastic that Gumbuya World bought such a grand coaster like Buzzsaw.

  7. Must admit, Dreamworld do have some pretty good ads for their rides. Loved the TOTII ad...

  8. I haven’t been on rivals in a while, but Is it getting rough/less comfortable because they’ve been using the same train for a while

  9. Movie definitely need to get the second train back on track so the current one can get some maintenance done on it but I think it’s still in superman’s maintenance bay and was in pieces last I heard.

  10. Thanks for the videos. 2nd launch on Big Dipper looks like it has some real kick. I find the tire brake run super interesting particularly as it sounds noisy vs magnetic - wonder if this is a result of limitations of the train design?

  11. On a positive note, at least decals have been applied to the facade in front of the BD station to make it look somewhat authentic and faithful to the intricate facade that it sits next to. Almost serves as a juxtaposition to what sits at Maloney's Corner at present, a bunch of flats plonked on a parking lot with hardly any presentation work done whatsoever. The banner is an embarrassment but people have joked about it to death at this point. Even the cheap new screen printed signs at MW look better.

  12. Ironic given there was a lot of hype around how themed the area would be when done.

  13. I hope not. I’m still mourning the loss of all the turbines….

  14. End of an era, will this be the last time we see rusted corrugated iron used as theming at Dreamworld?
