  1. Staff refer to the two trains as Batman and Joker. One train has a Batman sticker on the zero car (hard to see, but it's there). The second train has a Joker sticker, but I am yet to see that. Paying close attention to the red circles, a Batman sticker is present: (Hope you don't mind me using you image @Slick Paying close attention to the red circle, you see the remnants of the Joker sticker:

  3. Yeah look I can give it to the Dreamworld staff who most certainly did not expect to deal with such trauma, I don't think the same of those who signed up in that role to be first respondents. While I think it's worth pursuing against your employer, I'm not sure I agree with going after DW in this specific instance.

  4. Just a suggestion, folks. If you're going to add a snappy comment... give it some thought before you click on "Submit Reply". Maybe even wait a few minutes before clicking it. The claimant's story is pretty harrowing, if true.

  7. To be honest I didnt think it sounded that noisy which I guess is what they were hoping to achieve. The fact that this coaster doesnt need a clanky , high full lift hill is what sets this coaster apart from the previous Arrow Big Dipper. This will have minimum impact on residents the main launch is contained between the Office block and Coney Island- I am betting that virtually no one will hear this coaster apart from the screams of riders as they surmount the non inverting loop and the sidewinder. And having only 7 ( or 8?) people per train as opposed to the normal 16 or 24 this will also be kept to a minimum. From a noise point of view , and the placing of the ride , this is the perfect coaster for Luna Park and it apears it has been designed from a noise allowance and height restriction to be as non confronting for residents as much as possible. Surely there can be no complaints about this. The Sledgehammer would generate more noise than this just from number of ridership alone!

  11. Having mag brakes (or even friction brakes) that raise and lower is pretty routine. Im surprised they didnt have brake fins to the side like on the old school Intamin hypers or premier. https://rcdb.com/541.htm#p=127284

  12. Yeah not naive or a fool...... Ok let me edit that response. Surely there can be no complaints about this that will have any merit.

  13. Its in the article. He was only 'recently' diagnosed with PTSD from the incident. As for the case its self, going in as a cop, you're kinda expected to see dead bodies, regardless what branch of QPS you're assigned to. He may have a workers comp. claim but I don't think the suit against DW/Ardent will stand, unless their willing to throw money at it to go away and stay quiet.

  14. I'm no legal expert, and I don't know how many of you know your laws. But does he have a case? I wouldn't say seeing disfigured dead bodies is the expectation for someone in law enforcement, but surely it's unreasonable to think that you would never see a horrific scene as a part of this career. I feel bad for him, obviously. I couldn't imagine seeing what he say, and it's clearly left a horrible impact on his life. But I don't personally think Dreamworld are at fault for a first responder doing their job. If the officer wins this case, than shouldn't that give the right for doctors to sue their patients for the trauma they experienced via their patient's injuries?

  15. I've had a mix of both every time since the first time I rode it. I think it's the same audio, just sometimes the launch jumps the gun before the "Superman fast" bit.

  16. I do hope it is true because it will be great for that park. But it isn’t offical until Gumbuya announces a new ride is coming

  17. I take exception to this one. In any country, a certain number of deaths is expected from all causes (accident, illness, old age, homicide, suicide) and this remains reasonably stable from year to year (same as the birth rate remains reasonably stable from year to year) https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm But in places where the pandemic was bad, way more people were dying than usual, so clearly a new dangerous illness was the new kid on the block picking people off. A handful of deaths possibly being misatribued is really irrevant if hundreds of thousands of people of extra people are dying overall.

  18. At the end of the day, everyone who is hesitant should speak to a trusted GP about vaccination. With that aside, here's my thoughts. They've been the most closely scrutinised vaccines in human history. Doctor Norman Swan (who's great on CoronaCast) has a great article about it. Billions of doses have been administered now - if there was an issue, we definitely would've seen it by now. We were able to rapidly develop vaccines for a multitude of reasons. Our own TGA (which is one of the strictest in the world) has a knowledge-base about this. We're so lucky to live on an island country. Other countries have not fared as well and countries like Germany with as much resources as us are still struggling. We're really lucky that we feel like COVID-19 won't impact us in Australia because our states, by in large, have done the right thing in using a system of resources to minimise spread and impact until vaccines arrived. Without it, we'd have a lot more deaths (see above) and worse, a lot more people with long-covid, which sounds awful. Every side-effect, every death post vaccination, every reported sniffle is logged and checked. That data is also widely available - nothing is being hidden. This data has been misreported by politicians and fringe circles en masse, circumnavigating our spam and privacy acts in the process. More often than not, opposing, conservative opinions cherry-pick data or publish data in journals that aren't well known and aren't subject to peer review. Our federal government wasn't bothered to build quarantine facilities that it was supposed to by law, it refused to roll-out a national strategy for COVID-19 until it was forced to and absolutely bungled/lied about getting vaccines when we needed it. During that time, they spent millions on an app that didn't use global standards and was essentially a massive failure. And when our states stepped in and did all the leg work, not only did Scott Morrison take credit for it, but when conservative voices rioted and suggested violence against our states, he side-stepped condemning what is absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, abhorrent behaviour. Our federal government couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel, let alone coerce and force people into getting vaccinated.
