  1. On that same page is a link to the Leviathan Construction blog. Here's how we got to where we are now: May 2019 - VRTP Announces plans to build New Atlantis September 2020 - Slab in place October 2020 - Leviathan's foundation is 'almost' complete, early work commenced on lift hill November 2020 - we get a close up look at one of the ride's turns December 2020 - Leviathan tops out with the highest point being erected December 2020 - Vortex opens March 2021 - Final timber frame - number 660 - to be installed in the coming days ... ??? - Opening Date Announced Late 2021 ??? - Opening Date moved to Easter 2022 February 2022 - Opening Date moved to September 2022 Let's be real here, Leviathan was originally slated to open in "Late 2020" so it's more than 18 months late Even if you give them a year to account for the uncertainy of covid - it's still delayed by 3/4 of a year. Vortex was slated to open before the end of 2019 - so they don't even get to use COVID as an excuse for that one, and it opened an entire year late. Meanwhile, Trident is pushing 2 years late and counting.

  2. We've got a delay, at least its come along with a reason however. Below us from an email sent to pass holders. As a valued member of the Dreamworld community, we wanted to share an important update about the beloved Dreamworld Express with you. You may be aware that due to the construction of Steel Taipan and interruption to the train’s tracks, we had to temporarily close the Dreamworld Express. We’re incredibly excited to get it back on track, however unfortunately it’ll be late to this station! We know you've been eagerly awaiting its return, so we would like to apologise for the delay and assure you that we're doing everything we can to get it open as soon as possible. Our beautiful new carriages are on the way from the UK, and have been delayed by global shipping challenges, but fret not! We’ll continue to keep you updated as they near our station in the coming months. Here at Dreamworld, we don’t only have a one-track mind, so as part of the train’s re-opening, we’ve undertaken a range of works to improve your Dreamworld Express experience! Keep reading to find out more. Finally, don’t forget that good things come to those who wait! We look forward to getting you back on track soon. - From Conductor Kenny and the Dreamworld team.

  6. I don’t think the parks have closed because the weather hasn’t actually been to bad on the GC compared to Brisbane/Sunny Coast. I’ve been in and around Southport today and there’s been hardly any rain. And looking through social media at people who are at the parks, they don’t appear to have been impacted that much

  9. This was from a few weeks ago. But you all wanted improved scenery in the park. And here’s the start! These cute little dolls based on Arthur Barton’s drawings who will enjoy Big Dipper I (hopefully) forever! The plan is to fill up all the seats on the carriage with other dolls as well! Once things improve a bit more, Luna Land and Big Dipper III will get better!

  10. The quote is right there - family ride will be more sky voyager than steel taipan... My bet is some sort of enclosed attraction than a thrill ride... and given the closure of Big Red Car was at the beginning of Greg's time at the park, that's probably a good spot for it too, provided you can give it an appropriate theme for the area. (Especially since ABC Kids was also due for a refurb before Covid) I hope they realise the old train was also wheelchair accessible. For all the folks who neg this guy - this is the sign of a great park leader. Ivory towers don't help execs understand what the boots on the ground can tell them - they've got to get the same boots on and walk a mile beside a guest to know what impact their decisions are having on the guest experience.

  11. Unfortunately those white sheds certainly stand out everywhere. Hopefully some tall tense trees will be planted to hide them a bit, especially from the view in the Nickelodeon area They also built a temporary wall around the stairs up to the Tavern, so you can’t get a good up close view of the construction anymore

  12. Ah, it’s not that bad! I get to cuddle and squeeze them while they make a cold, dead stare saying “Mother, you’re giving me flashbacks.” I love them soooooo much!
