  2. This has come up a treat. Probably the best it's looked in a long, long time. Here's hoping the sign makes a return with some period-appropriate design aesthetics. I'd also love to see the station adorned with some appropriate trim when the painting's done (reverting the clock to something more old school, changing out the light fixtures for something more period appropriate, putting in benches undercover like you would a train station etc. etc.)

  4. Happy to, with thanks to @Dean Barnett whose photo I may have destroyed via Photoshop.

  5. I think when the water is flowing you you don't really need to dye it. The surface gets broken up and stuff plus bubbles and whatnot. Plus to put it gently, clear water is safer. The water does look lovely, I wish people would stop pointing it out because everytime someone does, the first thing I do is look at the mountain.

  6. Lol if you lost money real estate in the last two years your an idiot. Don’t go blaming Luna Park.

  7. i’m sorry but i don’t think the parks future hangs in the balance of whether or not they bring the steam train back or not. They’ve most likely looked at it, decided the upkeep, training and everything that is complicated with a stream train isn’t worth investing into it. Also, the fence is better then having a rusty fence that use to fit the aesthetic of two rides that are no longer there.

  8. Theming should be relevant to the context of where the viewer is standing. I'd say that's pretty much 101 basics when it comes to Disney theme and design of their parks. If you're in Fantasyland, most of what you see should be Fantasyland. So what do you do if you have a ride that peaks over sight lines like Space Mountain, the Matterhorn, Guardians of the Galaxy at DCA (formerly Tower of Terror)? You do one of two things, you build future theming in mind to hide or compliment those broken sight lines, or you just accept that it's a big attraction and it's unavoidable you might see the white steel cap of Space Mountain in another themed land. If that weren't the case, then you'd be theming the entire park to the largest visible ride, which is kind of nuts when you think about it. If that were the case, then the whole park would be themed to Tower of Terror, much like Sea World would be themed to Storm or Movie World Rivals. Therefore the arid-desert/snake theme works well in the context of Steel Taipan's courtyard. Outside of that space it doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense on the walk to Giant Drop and it's really not needed here. A basic colour with some climbing figs or vegetation would be far more appropriate in the context of City Hall/Dreamworld's entrance.

  9. No of course it doesn’t. But it does call out the ‘only if it’s cheap and easy’ nature of their whole Nostalgia angle they are trying to run with. And that’s my point. Also FWIW in my opinion replacing one ugly fence with another ugly fence is no sort of improvement. I just wish mediocracy could stop being praised at every turn. Where then is the incentive to do better?

  10. Yeah in my experience DCR has been running on minimal staffing (no dedicated sort) even on weekends lately. Both ST and Rivals were running with 3 staff (including supervisor) last weekend but with vastly different efficiency with ST smashing it out.

  11. Cringe. Just wondering did DC Rivals or Superman allow glasses with a strap?

  12. The new track doesn't seem to have a connection to the old maintenance shed... Any ideas how it will work? Also, here's the new paint job on the Buzzsaw fence in progress

  13. Even something as simple as the copperhead strike (another snake coster) landscaping.. very cheap and fits the theme. Dreamworld managed to make a carpark coaster - outside of the carpark.

  14. Definitely looks like an ashtray surrounded by seating. BUT the last I heard was the families were going to be involved in the design and if this is what they wanted, I am fine with it.

  15. It 100% needs landscaping.

  16. Yeah I think I mentioned that earlier as well - it's in desperate need of a pressure wash.

  17. Like how they made ToT and Morocco at EPCOT look similar due to the sight lines.

  18. It really does bring home how much charm DW had back in the day. The station and the brick fence thing oozes it. The whole park used to look like that pre 1997. I hope they're able to find a way to do charming shit again. I'm not awash with optimism, but maybe!

  19. I don’t hate the fence, it’s a better paint aesthetic than what was there with ST open. But it’s the not better. But what else could they do?

  20. Nope. It feels like you almost gotta be naked to ride Superman (it was closed on this visit). Having a queue where you can't have your phone is super lame. They need to get rid of the wall between the load and unload for Superman and add bins. Never seen then with 2 trains and the time the train takes to go from the unload to the load is 100% wasted time. They definitely did - like I saw them with my own (naked) eyes? Every single park I've been to has let me wear sunglasses with straps - including rides with much greater forces (X2, TTD, SteVie, Hulk) They also let you put a hat under your shirt for those brake run stacking waits. Presentation was great - except for the area under the ride.. some landscaping would be far better. Yeah just wanted to setting my expectations. Dreamworld are definitely way over strict now - I wasn't able to wear my sunglasses around my neck, tethered - on the soaring clone.. I've taken a full on backpack on multiple Disney rides with inversions. I'm not sure why I'd make up the amount of ops? They also didn't let me re-ride rivals when there wasn't anyone waiting for my row... I did the front row of apollo 4 times in a row once because of the empty queue.

  22. I think stating 180 credits is just to establish a basis that he has an educated opinion to base their critique - fair Unfortunately parks in Australia are kinda dumb and don’t allow things that are fine all over the world (like sunglasses with straps- or without even!). And I just have to comment that someone has a ride has 4 ops that they saw with their own eyes and others of course have to say “no there weren’t” 😂

  23. No parks let you wear them even with a strap on almost every ride.

  25. It's a trade & material shortage in Australia causing the delays and nothing like the shipping f-up that caused issues for WWF over Christmas. You're unlikely to test without a station and you can't build a station without available materials and trades in Australia. As for SW’s communication. It just sucks.
