  1. WE ARE NOT IN THE USA OR EUROPE WE ARE NOT EVEN IN MELBOURNE OR SYDNEY Stop with these nonsense suggestions the Gold Coast parks should do this and that just because it’s what happens somewhere else. They have their own sets of rules and regulations to abide by. You might not like it but thats how it is.

  2. Go take a look at Wild West Falls. Nevermind - i've included a picture below - let's play spot the difference: See how Wild West has a giant wall built down the side of the drop? It shields residents from the screams of riders. Notice it's missing from the second pic? Thats Rio Bravo in Parque Warner - where no such residential issues exist. There is a big reason nothing else is built up that end of the park despite decades of people coming up with amazing concepts, and its also why they continue to develop and expand into the carpark. The residents were there before these rides were, and too much noise, or too many late nights, and the complaints go to council and the park has to deal with them. As for trees and tree heights - Up in Cleveland, channel 7 filmed a TV show called Holey Moley. The local council received noise complaints from residents who were (at their nearest) over 250m away through a dense forest of trees. The filming had a handful of family friends and rent-a-crowd numbering a couple of hundred, as opposed to the thousands of people who attend movie world night events. The closest house to Movie World's operations is under 150m (Stunt Driver's fireball finale), and the closest distance to rider screams (Wild West's drop) is 230m. It's just simply unworkable. Luna Park doesn't have to but only because of government support, court precedents and legislation. There was a time when the residents shut the park down. Come back and complain when Movie World is 100 years old, has been shut down and through court. Here's a tip for free - there's a lot of people here who have had these discussions a dozen times before. This site has been around for almost 20 years. You've been around for 5 minutes. Why don't you try listening to these guys who have worked in the industry over those two decades, instead of telling them (wrongly) why they must be wrong. Theres a lot of people being quite a lot more patient with you than they should be - but that patience is quickly running out.

  3. You forget that according to @Dean Barnett we should just get rid of seatbelts cause the yanks do. So why not open at night and make noise since other parks do too. #logic

  5. All seems fair enough. I rage at the rides close half an hour before the park does crap. I don't care how you spin it the park closes when the rides do. Otherwise, good. Exactly what they should be doing, and possibly a response to the past couple weeks. Also pleased to see WnW getting its normal 4pm closing time back too over winter; it had been reduced to 3:30 so that's a good thing. I can almost guarantee they won't, but I'd love to see the Aqua Colour infrastructure put in late December and run a different 'non Carnivale Sea World themed' show at 7:30. Try and really take advantage of whatever boost Leviathan will bring.

  6. We decided to stop by Movie World this morning to show the kids the park knowing that it would be busy and we gave them the heads up that they probably won’t get on any rides because we needed to leave just after midday. The park was pretty busy, but not unbearably crowded when moving around, however the wait times were really high. As mentioned in the other thread, Doomsday and Green Lantern are down for the day and Wild West Falls was down for the morning and opened with a 100 minute wait. We mostly wandered around, did the Batman exhibit and some of the smaller rides in the WB Kids area. None of us adults got on any rides, but the kids got on three which was good for keeping them entertained. We passed on HSD2 as it didn’t seem like our groups cup of tea and watched a short Cat Woman show as we left the park. The parks presentation has improved since I last visited which was great to see, but unfortunately the general atmosphere was pretty down. A lot of families appeared pretty lost, there were many people just sitting around, and I overheard a few verbal altercations amongst family members deciding whether to try for the rides or just go home. One of my friends was working in the parks today that I didn’t know of and they had no idea I was there. I ran into them interacting with guests and they were fantastic, serious Disney level of professionalism, so I stopped by Guest Relations to put in a good word. Whilst I was filling out the form there were several families that came in one after another complaining about the crowds and waits. The mediator in Guest Relations noted that Virtual Queue was turned off today to help with the wait times, but was giving out single use fast tracks to the more persistent complainers. If you’re reading this and see an opportunity, please don’t pester them. The staff are already under an immense amount of pressure and I saw that many were visibly flustered by the situation. The parks size and what’s on offer just doesn’t lend itself to the sort of demand that we’re seeing at the moment. Considering that I didn’t get on any rides, I can’t comment on their operations, but DC Rivals was only running one train with a notice out the front that said it was operating at a limited capacity due to circumstances outside of their control which I’d be interested to know more about. Also of note was that almost all stores and F&B options were open, with some new temporary booths such as coloured braids and those long tube candy things you see at shopping centres. They’re not my thing and I didn’t check the price, but they could make a decent bribe to satisfy a frustrated child. I agree with others that the park needs an improved layout with some high capacity attractions. My dad noted that when we went as kids it was nothing like this, and that now-defunct attractions such as Gremlins, Batman, and Looney Tunes created a far more fulfilling family day out which was interesting to hear from him. Going with my family gave me some great perspective regarding our parks and how one might visit with the hierarchy from a toddler to grandparents, what they notice, and what they’re interested in. Their top pick was Dreamworld due to the variety of what was on offer, but they want to come back in the future during a quieter time to really experience Movie World, Sea World, and their attractions properly. I’ve always wondered whether presentation is actually that important, and whether I’m too picky on certain things, but talking to my dad doesn’t do rides and helped push the grandkids prams around, he had nothing better to do then to look around, and this spurred several questions from him about things that I genuinely only thought enthusiasts noticed and cared about. All round, everybody seemed to have fun with the three parks, including movie world which I believe was in part due to tapered expectations, and they’re excited to come back again in the future. I think it helped them by having somebody who knows the parks and things like virtual queue, because I know that not everybody has had a great time these school holidays.

  7. It IS a smug-ass reply - Not what the social media team at any family focussed facility should be saying ever. There won't be anything on their website, and of course - why would they ever tell people to stay away (that worked well for the GC Comm Games). From what i've seen over the past couple weeks, they need to do a couple things: reconsider the park's capacity limit for peak operations, and reduce that capacity based on ride availability, staff availability and park capacity reductions since the capacity number was first introduced Have a 'live' crowd meter of sorts available on their app or website. Have their social team post if the park is seeing exceedingly long wait times. Anything over 2 hours should trigger them to post things like 'its a bit full today, try alternate property attraction?' or something rather than make people find out at the gate. Have the social team be empathetic to customers who are venting their frustrations. Sure, it's not the parks fault there's so many people, but these are YOUR guests and they've had a BAD experience I was told previously by guest relations that as long as you're in the queue before the park closes, you'll get a ride. I've heard queues for things like Rivals are being closed as early as 2pm. 3 Hours before close. And staff are still working an hour after the park closes. SOMEthing needs to happen. At the moment, NOTHING is visibly being done. And to have this kind of social response 'come back next week' is just insulting.

  8. Echoing what some people have said in this thread but going a bit further, whatever plans Movie World has for the Arkham area should be either put on hold or completely thrown out in favour of a super-high capacity family adventure ride like what the park had with the Loony Tunes River Ride, something that can board 20+ people per boat/car with a continuous loading/unloading platform without the need for complicated restraints. It might sound like 'pie in the sky' thinking but what I think is, rather than spend $20+ million on a record breaking roller coaster or 3 random roller coasters (or whatever the plan currently is for Arkham) they need a Disney level attraction that can just churn through guests consistently.

  9. it is pretty stupid complaining about noise when you voluntarily moved next to an entertainment precinct as big as Movie World… it’s even more stupid complaining about noise when living in surfers paradise, don’t most apartment buildings have sound proof doors and windows anyways?

  10. Luckily the only thing above the treetops (23m ish) is the top of the coasters. Blue is trees at 23m ish - Red is rivals top height. Well then @rappa I'll change tact then and say we should get rid of seatbelts because the europeans do (Blue Fire doesn't have seatbelts)
