  1. The past 2 days have been the busiest of the hoilday and Superman had two train. So i dont know where your coming from maybe you should go to sfmm and queue up for X for 4 hours or wait a hour for Cyclone before you start complaining about one of the better ride op divison out there in the theme park world
  2. i dont think so. 1st ride ops dont know what the parks getting 3 years down the track and second even the park doesnt know a park will decide 1 to 1 and half years before, and this is because coaster manufactor always come up with different designs each year. But the 60metre for space shot is correct and makes me smile as last november i suggested that size over 180ft model to a important person at the company. Ian:)
  3. Yes about 1/3 of the tower has arrived and the captions under the photos should explain everything else. Enjoy http://ozcoaster.net/content/view/28/27/ Ian
  4. Just remember this will be a one day thing so dont except anything on a American or Europe park scale seeing there events go for most of October. It will be Family based focusing more on kids but the rides will be open. Im sure they will still do a good job as movieworld always do. I will be in Orlando and Knotts experiencing the real scary Halloween experience and hope in the future Movieworld take this route or Dreamworld change Screamworld to October with scary themes. If it works in Europe and the UK im sure the Aussie market will get behind it, Just look at Rock My World last friday there was around 2000 there and they were all locals aged around 16 to 45 and thats proof locals are always up for something different.
  5. They were talking about the coaster version with the train and 5 or 6 cariages that fits 24 people, not a mouse version that fits 4 people.
  6. I would say MW 1.4 SW 1.2. MW attandance has been increasing each year ive been there and thats 4 years now. The past 2 days mon, tue were 7000 each day.
  7. Yes indeed Ive been hearing that there may have been some changes in the wind but mums the word right now but if the wind is really changing its going to be huge.
  8. Has DW official told you there getting a new coaster No I think not thats inside news. When the Claw opened DW didnt annouce it till 2 weeks before opening. Also its not the coaster when i say BIG And can everyone stop bashing the parks just be thankful there spending money on there guests. In the last few years the parks have added Superman Escape, Shrek, Extreme H20 zone, Bucaneer Bay, White Water World, Batwing Spaceshot, The new big thing at SW, Wiggles World and now a new coaster for DW. Thats alot of stuff you guys wouldnt have ridden a few years back. So stop the bashing and be thankfully you have parks in your home countries.
  9. Just ask Clint (Djrappa) about that he went on Kumali on the TPR UK tour and said the ride wasnt that smooth. SLC just seem rough I think alot of it has to do with the track to wheel design, as well as those hard rubber OTSR that bang the ears the need to make them softer like B&M.
  10. Lets just say Seaworld's new addition is big You will know what i mean by big when the park offically announces it, ive been told to keep it to myself so sorry.
  11. ^congrats on the new job Tony Anyway as for this new ride i need to find a kid so the op will let me on
  12. did you see me by any chance maybe with your locker change? anyway always happy to say hello to a fellow theme park fan. glad you had a good day
  13. the private plans ive seen have a nice gotham park look. part of the theming will be plaza type for families like the gotham city of the new movies. That the way the Wanye family would have wanted it.
  14. on a side note the coke ad with the picture of the arch with the red carpet, is my photos i did for publicity the red carpet was photoshopped in after.
  15. ^wrong location I love seeing you guys guess new rides when i know what there getting, because some of you are always so far off but some of you take really good guesses, it fun to watch.
  16. This ride will have great surrounding theming without the story just like DCA, when the park decided on a S&S tower last year they wanted to make sure the was no enclosed theming at the bottom, as it will be a lot cooler for the general public watching to see the fear on the riders faces as they take off.
  17. Excuse me I do an average of 3 updates a week, on parks locally and worldwide. but if you want me (ozcoaster.net) or Rich (roller-coaster.com.au) to do 7 updates a week then pay us our full time wage and we will quit our day jobs for you guys if not just be happy with the regually updates we provide.
  18. As someone who is very close to the situation I stayed very clear of saying anything. But will answer some question that I can. (1) Attendance I can tell you my budgets are alot higher on weekdays then weekends, our weekends are always quieter then weekdays come to the park on a Monday to Wednesday then return on a Saturday and you will see what I mean. Yes May has been quiet, but the local taxi drivers have told me that there work load is dead at the moment so that a general Gold Coast thing right now. We had good numbers Febuary to April, But at the moment we have alot of guest from India and China as there are more flights to Brisbane now but they dont spend as much as some other nations, where yesterday I sold alot of photos to Koreans. (2)Adverstising (my opinon off the record) Superman should have been advertised differently I would have had A 6 month build up before the ride opened And would have advertise to everyone not just Teenages, doing a website and teenage slang doesnt impress alot of people. I think they need to realise for every 11 to 18 year old on the net, there are still a huge number of 18 to 40 year olds as well. I guess to sum it up people learn from there mistakes.
  19. Just wanted to tell you guys the 1st slides pieces have arrived they are aqua blue and purple, also the wave pool is going vertical. here is 2 pages of photos. http://ozcoaster.net/index.php?option=com_...&id=95&Itemid=2 Thanks Ian
  20. ^adam is correct, it was ET the ride that was replaced by The Mummy. I use to love ET those bikes were so cool and when ET said your name at the end was groovy. I have a friend you works on the mummy and he say the new KING KONG is amazing, so good work weta workshop New Zealand.
  21. Guys at the top of the thread, it was Hong Kong Disney not Tokyo. How can you tell well oreintal land copr put millions into the Tokyo Disney Resort (Disneyland and Disneysea) and the results are amazing theming wise compared to the other parks in the world. The show was good but you could only really count Knotts as one of the top parks in the world.
  22. B&M, Intamin and GCI all have given me a great ride.
  23. Have to disagree sure some teenages may just not notice the theming but alot of the general public here and worldwide notice a good look or story (as they dont refer to it as theming) Thats why Disneyland was so great because it took you into a fantasy world for the day and out of the real world which isnt the best place (just watch the news) Why do I know this well not just because i travel to lots of parks but because everyday I talk to guests at work and the most common things heard are stuff like how cool was scooby compared to lethal, I get alot lately from guest who have been to universal about how the mummy and Jurrasic park were great. IMO opinon themed parks need to have theming, parks like Cedar Point and SFMM dont as much because (a) they have loads of coaster compared to other parks ( there target is coaster riders. So as for Dreamworld I would have said 5 years ago any non themed coaster would be fine, but now with the waterpark, The Claw, Gold Rush Coutry and Tower of Terror, wiggles. I definely see any new addition having some theming somewhere on the ride.
