  1. Yeah but in all honesty the bulk of visitors Movieworld attracts to this sort of event are people who see 20 dollar entry as a far more affordable option than the 60 odd to get in for a normal day. And when you consider that a family pass (for four) was 70 bucks, that is an absolute deal that attracts a tonne of visitors. For those people they honestly couldn't care less about how well it was themed.
On the private numbers I was giving for the fright zone and show stage (which had 2 shows in that night) the numbers were huge, plus the amount of guest that dressed up, I personal think alot of people understood what the concept of the night was about.
  2. Just needed to make some points here to a few comments above. (1) Halloween is a Halloween Event at night and features some great characters, and 4 shows this year plus the fright zone, and people that payed for that entertainment went home happy. (thats why we read our park maps at the gates folks to know whats going on, you cant watch a show if you are in the superman line). (2) If you complain you waited to long for a ride then you dont understand the concept of special themed events if you payed $20 to just ride rides you would have been better just going on a day instead of this event. Thats why when I go to universal each year during Halloween I ride the Mummy coaster in the day as I know at night the line will get up to 2 hours at least, I guess its just common sense. (3) The crowds were big each night and park mangement should be congratulated for capping the event to a certain figure each night, I felt alot more comfortable then the big crowd I experienced in Orlando this year. (4) The fright zone was really good I actually enjoy it more then a couple of house I went through at Universal, yes its short (leathal weapon alley) but each year it will grow in size with new ideas as it gets bigger and bigger. The talent also looked great with Leatherface and his female victim and the chainsaw charging at the guest was great, there were actually a few guest running back to the entrance to get away which was great to watch. Freddy, Mike Myers and burns victim were great as well. Anyway the 3 nights were a huge succes with the general public and media and each year as October in Australia gets more and more halloween feel to it this event is just going to keep on expanding in more postive ways then ever.

  3. There is now a kid's style bumper cars equivalent up beside the rocket ride. If it previously existed, my apologies for not knowing about it. The splash down area has reduced in size. The reduction is to make way for the merry-go-round Midway Games The new area being created at the corner of the Wild West area is in fact a midway games style area. I saw a barrel toss, the game where you squirt water at a target and your prize runs toward the top and one where you shoot the moving targets. I counted spaces for a total of 6 games of this style Intencity @ MovieWorld is now open. It features the games you would regularly find at an Intencity/TimeZone, however, some were quite obviously second hand equipment. The new dodgems area was behind a black wall, however the queue line and entry gates are visible inside the Intencity building Took a couple of photos for you all. No guarantees on quality, it was bright and it's only my 2 megapixel Nokia 6280.
The kids Taz Bumper Cars have always been there ;) The splash zone has actually not change size at all the new looney tunes carousel is actually on the site where The Bugs Toys retail shop once stood thats why there is a new WB kids store at the old Daffy's Shop. Make sure you visit this brand new shop its fanatisic. Kids WB is Warner Bros. new Australian Kids TV show that runs on Saturday mornings for 2hr 30mins on channel 9 and reintroduces kids of this generation to the Looney Tunes also the show has interview segments including your truely who was interview a couple of months back. The new sign in the kids area actually says "WB KIDS" there is no fun zone quote at all. Western area The new Intencity is going off it is so busy and has some great Air Con ;) Intencity has actually been with the park since it 1st open in the western area late 2003 and has always had movieworld workers, I should know I was the 1st person to work there. I cant wait to ride the bumper cars they came from Italy and should be open by monday.

  5. The Shak may have moved to DW, though the slightly less embarressing Toasted is supposedly moving to SW while MW gets the new WB Kids Sat morning show. What can I say, its an exciting time in low budget kids TV folks ;)
That is correct, Last week WB KIDS started filming at work, and Toasted is now at Seaworld, so the shak was most likely asked to find a new home.
  6. Then we went into the Batman Simulator. I think they need to shorten down the intro to that ride, it takes so long and uses up a lot of time.
Thats actually the idea of a correctly done story themed ride. I would rather have all the preride stuff because thats what having fun at a themepark is all about IMO.
  7. Yeah today I went to WnW and rode the Half Pipe, it was a really enjoyable ride, great G's at the bottom of the curve, and cool airtime at the top, the spinning was pretty fun too, a bit faster than the Claw at DW. See an interesting thing happened and the ride got built instantaneously, so now we can all talk about the ride and how it was, instead of commenting on the happenings during the construction process that normally takes months. Its really lucky for you too sonic123488, you were facing months of not being able to talk about the ride since it wasn't open, but now it is so you can enjoy it now and talk about the construction technique.
    That was Awesome ;)
Like many here, I'm still not pleased that the recipient of this ride is a water park. People only visit water parks so they can take their clothes off and play in the water. In the WATER! I reckon this style of ride—which does look rather exciting—would be more suited to Movie World or Sea World.
Do you think though being Australian has made us shelter (wow I just called myself Australian) in what we think is right and wrong in placement. What I mean by this is everybody at work (mw) thinks a coaster at Wet n Wild is stupid just like most people here on the boards and on my site do, yet when I talked to Robb Avery who been too nearly every park in the world he tells me its common to see this type of coaster size at water parks. So maybe we need to start looking outside the square, and to be honest when I go to a water park i normally get bored around 1pm or 2pm now I have something else to do before i leave.
  8. This weekend you can help support a Australian Theme Park Legend and all you need to do is Laugh. Mad Mike of the Police Academy Stunt Show you know everybody favorite warm up act, is one of the Finalists in a national standup competion in Sydney and if he wins he goes to Canada to Represent Australia. So if your in the area please pop along and cheer as loud as you can guys and gals. The night starts kicks off at 6pm and if you say you're there to see Mad Mike entry is 2-for-1. final.jpg
