  1. It's a great video, & has me itching to get there even more. I am a huge fan of theming, & DS looks to be packed full of theming goodness. Nice work dude.
  2. This thread is pure gold - people's stories getting shutdown left, right & centre. I love it
  3. I love the framed Disney prints. I'll be sure to buy one once my funds are a little more sorted out
  4. I'm on the northside as well, but I don't drink coffee. I love muffins tho =) There are a fair few snobby people round here I'll give you that, but there's also an abundance of 'bogans of the beaches', it's not all lattes & mochaccinos. Anyway shifty, you have alot of growing up to do in regards to your views on 'gays & freaks'.
  5. Haha, about 8 or so years ago in high school we went on an excursion to Wonderland as well. It was an excursion for Art class no less (how wonderland related to art I'm still not so sure). Anyway, nice TR Shifty
  6. I'd love to see posters of aerial shots of whole parks. They just look so cool from a slight angle (ie not completely top-down) from up there Here's an example of what I'm talking about http://www.sonicspike.net/pictures/albums/...98-IMG_0067.JPG
  7. Thanks for scanning it in Gazza. The article was what I expected really - brief & pretty uninformative Now I just gotta get to Cedar Point one of these days & get on it
  8. Thats good to hear. I'll have to pop down soon & ride it
  9. Scott, here's a pic of a floorless train. http://www.coastergallery.com/1999/medusa10.jpg
  10. Yeah that'd be cool if you could scan it in - I'd love to have a look at it
  11. I was looking thru that site the other day & was captivated by alot of the photos. (The amusement park pics especially). http://www.kiddofspeed.com/111img/image18.2.jpg http://www.kiddofspeed.com/111img/image18.3.jpg http://www.kiddofspeed.com/111img/image19.1.jpg
  12. Wow I remember that brochure! All the 80s memories are flooding back I love the front page artwork, it's similar to the style used in those 80s "Life Be In It" ads
  13. No worries folks, if I find any more I'll scan them in as well. I know I used to have a map from around 89 or so, but I think thats long gone, unless I'm able to unearth my 'brochure bag' somewhere It's so great to know there's other geeks out there that had brochure bags as well
  14. Yeah I've posted a park map from 1995 in the wonderland section, in AlexB's thread...
  15. Its sitting in a drawer somewhere Actually I completely forgot about it, will do it now for you your highness
  16. Also you may wanna check out this on-ride video of the smaller version at Drayton Manor www.draytonmanor.co.uk/videos/Maelstrom_1_HIGH.wmv It's about a 2mb video, & it gives a good view of how close the footers are to the centre pit. I'd say this is most likely the model we're getting. Altho I havent seen the Dreamworld site in person, so I'm unsure if the 'footer to pit ratio' is the same as in the video
  17. The footer placement in the pics from Dreamworld look like they could be the footers for the edge of the ride platform (as seen in this pic from Intamin http://www.intaminworldwide.com/img/BILDER..._R/GYRO_SWI.jpg) They look similar in distance anyway. But thats highly unlikely, I'm not even sure the edge of the platform would have footers. Heres a pic from Intamin of the smaller version http://service.escapenet.ch/publisher/pict...6a_10324210.jpg I'm not sure even that would fit with what we've seen so far at Dreamworld....
  18. Well it seems like we'll have to settle with the smaller version of the gyro swing According to Intamin its measurements are 16m (I'm not sure if they mean the distance between footers or the length of the swing shaft or what really, but thats what it says on their website). & Scott, well that really depends on your definition of crappy, but IMO the gyro swing looks like an extremely enjoyable ride. Have a look at Intamin's website & see for yourself. http://www.intaminworldwide.com/r_products...thrillrides.htm
  19. I'd like to see the Demon go somewhere, rather than get scrapped, but I tend to agree with most of you in that I think Dreamworld would be better off putting money towards a new coaster, rather than another rehashed dodgy vekoma (ok well the other rehashed one is an arrow, but you get my drift ).
  20. Yeah, congrats on the honorable mention, I saw it there this morning Great video btw, really nicely done (I just wish there was a POV shot from Bush Beast in it hehe). Btw, what was Wonderland's policy on cameras on rides?
  21. I'm pretty sure it is, unless my mind's eye is wrong. I can't fully remember what he looked like, but I'm pretty sure that's him (I'm a little hazy tho so don't be surprised if I am completely wrong hehe)
  22. I have a 95 park map (it's a 10 year anniversary brochure), so I'll scan it in tonite & put it up for you.
  23. Was anyone here working at wonderland when it was under the management of Todd Coates? What was he like as a manager? The reason I ask is, I met him in 1996 and he seemed like a really great guy. I was in contact with wonderland, expressing interest in the theme park industry etc, & he actually asked me to come in & meet with him so he could chat to me about it all & show me some of the business side of things. He just seemed like such an enthusiastic, nice guy. This was back before Sunway, when rides were actually being put in. (Space Probe had just been recently installed when I met with him & he took me on it). So yeah, thats my fondest memory of wonderland; meeting with the general manager, getting to see some of the behind the scenes business, being shown the inner workings of space probe, & getting a vip ride on SP
  24. Yeah I'm not one for expensive hotels; when I'll be spending the majority of my time at parks, all I really care about is whether the room has a semi-comfy bed or not Thanks for the heads-up in regards to the socal citypass, I probably won't be heading down to San Diego at this stage, but if I change my mind then I'll definitely give the pass a go (I may wanna try out Atlantis at Seaworld if it's open by then). Do you know if SFMM still has twickets? Last time I was there I bought a twicket to return for another day at a small cost. (similar to Dreamworlds 'second day' offer). I'll be at SFMM 2 consecutive days, so hopefully I'll be able to buy a return twicket on the first day, then use it the next day.
