  1. OK, so in August I am heading over to the vast blue/smog-ridden skies of LA for a whirlwind tour of the parks in & around Anaheim. As of yesterday my flights are booked & my itinerary looks to go something like this: Day 1: Arrive morning, relax, do random things Day 2: Disneyland & DCA (will have 3 day park hopper) Day 3: DL & DCA Day 4: Knotts Day 5: Universal Studios Day 6: DL & DCA (my birthday, I'll probably be the only 24yo wearing an "Its my Birthday" sticker, trying to score bday bonuses ) Day 7: Day off, more random stuff Day 8: SFMM Day 9: SFMM Day 10: Day off. Fly home that night I havent been to DL, UniStudios, or Knotts since 97, & I havent been to SFMM since 2000, so theres quite alot of new attractions I am looking forward to. (I havent been to DCA at all). I can imagine the crowds will be quite large as it is their summer, but I'm hoping, being late August, it won't be too bad (well as bad as mid July anyway). Has anyone been there at late August & if so how were the crowds? (last time I was there in November & most rides were walk-ons). If anyone knows good places to get deals on park passes or whatever then please let me know, but as of now I am thinking I will leave it till I get there, & source some deals at the hotel or wherever. Also if anyone has any good hotel recommendations that aren't super expensive, feel free to let me know. I'm looking at staying just near DL & DCA for most nights, but then head to Valencia for a few nights for SFMM. cheers (In 2005 the plan is to hit the East coast, funds permitting of course )
  2. Yeah it is pretty poor that they hadn't even locked in a theme/name before they started building, but as we all know, Dreamworld isn't exactly the best at theming so it really comes as no surprise to me. I've always thought of Dreamworld as an amusement park rather than a theme park anyway.
  3. The "It's cool to pee your pants" ride is by far the best water ride out there! ps, this takes the cake for worst thread ever...
  4. Yeah I agree with joz, they don't really need another kids area, especially right next door to their current one. In my eyes they should utilise the thunderbolt area for a new large continuous circuit coaster (ie not a shuttle coaster etc). But who knows what will happen really.. that's just what I'd like to see...
  5. Haha, looks like you ruined Obstructure's name guessing game Thanks for the info tho. I don't mind the name Cliff Hanger, altho there probably are better names out there. (I can't think of any tho )
  6. I think I actually prefer the design of the Huss giant frisbee. To me its just more aesthetically pleasing But I think thats me just being a little too picky, & you can be sure I'll be more than ecstatic to ride the Intamin version Huss version http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index/Huss...antFrisbee2.jpg http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index/Huss...antFrisbee1.jpg oh I hope we don't get those perspex cages, that would annoy me. I wanna feel the wind on my face
  7. Aaah ok, will have to have another look
  8. The coaster in the themparkreview vid is a actually spinning coaster I think, rather than a tail-drifting one... (unless I'm mistaken) Have a look at their X-seat tho http://www.maurer-soehne.de/en/Amusement/X...ster/X-Seat.htm No more OTSR's!!
  9. Wow only just read this thread now - sounds like an awesome trip you have planned! I am jealous I'm pretty sure I'm doing a west coast mini tour this Aug/Sept (I'm just in the phase of setting it up now), but I'm dying to get to the east coast sometime. Keep us all informed how it goes.
  10. I love it how they have the dressed-up Martian character in the 'rides' category on their website. "I wanna ride the martian!"
  11. I was wondering how long it would be till this sort of thing happened... I just hope it doesn't actually have an effect this time on the park with ride closures etc... damn residents.
  12. The estimated opening date is 2043.
  13. Yeah I get that, I just want to know what everyone was told might be installed... (as you've probably read in this thread, some people have said they were told of supposed rides that were going to be introduced but couldn't reveal them)... so now I just wanna know what they were lied to about
  14. This is quite possibly the best thread ever! Now that we all know wonderland isn't getting a new ride , does anyone wish to share the information they held about supposed new rides that were going to happen?
  15. Well, this is an interesting turn of events... I wonder if it's true tho. I hope not, cos I'm itching to try out a gyroswing.
  16. That intertwining mass of water slides in Japan looks crazy!
  17. It's the Coaster Wheel at DCA right? That looks great, can't wait to try it out. But the Coaster Wheel Drop looks even better - it seems to incoporate freefall elements into it somehow. I'm not sure if 1 has been built anywhere yet, the picture on the Intamin website is concept art by the looks of things http://www.intaminworldwide.com/img/BILDER...WH/COASTER_.gif
  18. Yeah I remember those urban myths, I think they exist for every single water slide park tho I never went to Mt Druitt, but I went to Manly waterworks a few times when I was young. (btw, Manly waterworks is featured in the rad 80s movie BMX Bandits, starring Nicole Kidman)
  19. The Intamin coaster wheel drop looks pretty cool.
  20. Let's just hope they don't start to install OTSR's on their hyper coasters.
  21. $28 for a 30min ride on a ferris wheel? Seems a little pricey to me. But good luck to them =)
  22. Yeah I've been keeping an eye on this story since it happened - I'm interested to find out if it was rider negligence, or indeed a faulty lapbar/poor design issue. Its another big blow to Intamin tho for sure.
  23. I really don't think we are off the point at all. You asked what we would prefer - we have answered specifically by saying we'd like a coaster by the manufacturer B&M, be it a sit-down or stand-up etc... Besides, isnt that what a forum is for? To discuss topics? I suppose we all could've just answered with "I'd prefer a big sitdown coaster", but then well the thread would be quite boring.
  24. Well I'm 6 foot 4 so maybe thats why...
  25. Just to diverge to another topic in your post quickly - what was the incident that happened at SRM in 2003? As for B&M's; I've ridden a few, & I've definitely found them to be the best steel looper out there (but well thats pretty obvious ). Every element flows into one another perfectly, but I agree with the point raised that alot of them follow the same line of elements. It would be great to see them mix it up a little more, try out some new things, but I really have no problems with how they're doing things at the moment. That may change after trying out Scream at SFMM tho, all reports I've heard have said its quite rough & not like the usual Beemer. Have you ridden it Richard?
