It will be a bit scary sitting upsidedown while the other seats are loaded.

You'll be sitting up-right on the top, when the bottom side is unloading/loading. In the concept art the seats are shown to free spin. Looks like the pivot point on the back of the seat is positioned higher, such that the seats will always want to return back to an upright position when the main arm in a stationary vertical position.

    New ride coming our way.

Loving the Jules Verne retro-space inspired theme and unique name. Exciting that it's a complete new ride type/prototype from KMG as well. Looks like a mix between a Chance Double Skydiver and a Zierer Starshape. Not sure about the single seats though....people do like to ride together, might deter some from spending the $15+ to ride.

Also, we are getting a KMG X-Drive very soon. "Dance Mix" was the first ever built/prototype X-Drive, originally built in 2019 and owned by a European showman for a few years. It appeared on usedrideseurope.com in 2023, listed as not being used since 2021. Looks like Aus Ultimate Attractions has purchased it, and is already in Aus.

OK.  Not saying DCSV is the pinnacle of MW theming.  I'm saying it's the min. standard, I judge MW by.  It's the preshow to the ride, what MW once did really well.  It just turned out the preshow ended up being better then the ride and MW has given up on the area.

Just to clarify, DCSV to you represents the minimum standard you expect from Movieworld regarding the pre-show and overall land theming around a ride, attraction or show?

In my opinion, the DCSV area was one of the worst investments in Movieworld's history. And should serve as a "how not to design a themed land" case study in textbooks on theme park design.

DC Super- villains is the standard MW set, anything less is a backwards step.

What sets the DC supervillains unleashed area apart for you? What made it good in your opinion?

And when you say it "sets the standard," do you mean it's the pinnacle of themed land expansions or attractions ever constructed at Movieworld?

but BY FAR, the biggest difference to any Village park was the staff.  They were genuinely kind and friendly, even at the food outlets they just great to have around.

This! I'm glad others are noticing. I think we forget how important staff interactions, behaviours, work ethic and operations are to the overall themepark experience. Whilst impressive rides and attractions are essential, the quality of staff can profoundly alter your overall perception of a themepark. It's the main reason why I leave Dreamworld/WWW feeling happier and more fulfilled than after a day at any VRTP property these days.

  6. On Friday Funfields announced through their social media channels that the official last operating day of the Thunderdome Go Karts will be today (Sunday 25th Feb 2024). There is approx. 20 operating days left for the 23/24 season. It'll be interesting to see how the crowds fare, without the go karts, during the Victoria labour day weekend and Easter school holidays.

Smart move by the park to retire an old, space-hogging, low-capacity attraction. And bring in 2x new timeless and family-friendly themepark/waterpark attractions, that will have a more flexible height/age restrictions than the go-karts (ultimately catering to a broader audience). Together, these new rides will should boost capacity significantly.

Movie World has zero excuse for the current mediocre effort.

Perhaps not an excuse, but VRTP continues to offer a 'mediocre' product offering across all facets of their business, because they have found the optimum quality/effort that generates enough profit to keep all C-Suite employees, owners and shareholders happy.

  8. @Guest 239 Very very similar thoughts to yours above. Such a great family event this year. And the park looks gorgeous at night - especially the New Atlantis land. Got a night ride on Leviathan, with fireworks from Aquacolour, which was just *chefs kiss*.

VQ was a bit wishy washy. A lot of staff mentioned that VQ was completely down and wouldn't be used for the event despite that not being the case.

I had this exact issue. VQ was not working for me (no matter how many times I signed in and out, restarted my phone, killed the app manually/cleared cache/opened app again). So I went to the new fast photo booth at Dockside Tavern to ask for help. All three staff members at the counter told me with no hesitation that VQ was NOT available/working for this Saturday's Carnivale event. I knew this was a lie, and an attempt to get rid of me, as most of my friends' VQs were working on the night. I didn't bother pressing the issue further.

Icing on the cake was as I left the counter, one of the workers turned to the other 2 and exclaimed "Gees, the park is on fire tonight!" in a sarcastic tone. 🙃 classic vrtp customer service

Yes it is really great. I went on the Rebel when I went a week ago and I can tell you it is one of the most intense flat rides in Australia.

Agreed! The 2nd half of the cycle, when the gondola spins freely, is wild. The onset of the forces are abrupt and intense. IMO it's running better, and more extreme, than when it was on the carnival circuit.

Not being busy and having small wait times is not an indication of a park doing well.

Thrill ride waits have been long, but you know what, welcome to peak season at every park everywhere *that is popular and highly attended

I was not discussing if either park is 'popular' / 'highly attended', or if either park is 'doing well'. That is not what I intended to discuss with my posts - sorry if I have caused confusion. @jozI intended to point out that your initial statement was untrue - and I am glad you refined your statement in a follow-up post. Now I understand where you are coming from.

Perhaps Dreamworld's positive reviews relating to queue wait times is because they are not as well attended, compared to Movieworld. It could also be because they have more rides and attractions? It could also be because they operate their rides more efficiently? Perhaps a mix of everything? Let's all be mindful that, as @Slickhas stated in the past, correlation doesn't equal causation.

I only had to go 5 reviews deep to find this @WalleyWorld

I don't think the review that you have screenshot relates to queue wait times? Joz made a statement claiming that "Thrill ride waits have been long, but you know what, welcome to peak season at every park everywhere." I then showed evidence to disprove this statement. I can't see how the review you showed in your post relates? The review talks about closed rides and unstated show times. Not long queues.

Not sure if recent Google reviews for Dreamworld are a valid argument against this statement? 🤷‍♂️ But I can't seem to find complaints pertaining to queue times in the last few days (except 1 about express queue, which I pasted below). Instead we have people leaving reviews praising queue times (some examples below):

    image.thumb.png.ed2f3f42dcc8ec07c86800f612ab9fd9.png

    image.png.c3fd1bc4626770ff3ee8b62a2fd3e0eb.png

  12. If this topic is indeed about the 'validity of google reviews', a good place to start would be to discuss what is actually being said/complained about in those reviews. Reading Movieworld's Google reviews (from the last week or so) one of the top three complaints that keep showing up is: wait times are too long per ride. There doesn't seem to be people complaining about the qty of attractions they did in their day.

And then the question is, are the comments being made about the wait times in those reviews valid? e.g. are the wait times per ride indeed too long?

As someone who reads reviews myself I will 100% agree they matter when people are making a choice, but as I said above, there isn’t really a choice to be made in the case of GC.

But there is a choice if you are from interstate (which makes up a large portion of themepark ticket sales on the coast). Would you agree with the following? A family in Melbourne consults current/recent Google/Trip Advisor reviews for the Gold Coast themeparks - from these reviews they decide not to go on a themepark holiday to the GC. But instead stay in Melbourne and do the themeparks and waterparks locally.

  14. Very exciting to see what comes of this long refurb. As other have already said, having this coaster down for a full year is going to hurt the park's capacity and increase wait times. Making it even more imperative to move Surfrider over to MW, and get the new Marvin the Martian kiddie flat up and running. Anything at this point will help. Maybe more street entertainment and shows as well.

The best thing to do is to not share the content around and have independent conversations with the people you know.

Exactly! And further to that do not 'like' react a post, or comment. The more people disengage = metrics will show poor engagement. Leading to less of this type of content being published.

Did anyone else notice when they rode forward Rivals was open (queue was filling up) but when they returned to ride backwards the ride was closed (queue was empty and everyone could be see queuing outside on the bridge).

I'd be filthy if I was a paying customer that day... Holidays are busy enough as it is without someone commanding a ride to be closed so they can film it.

This was one of the highlights of Movieworld's Star Tour back in the day. Getting to do the first ride of the day on Superman, whilst the rest the general public are held up at the ride's entrance (and the queue sprawling down to the fountain). One of the many experiences/attractions I would love VRTP bring back.

Also we do realise half the stuff DW say is total BS marketing spin right?

Can you show some examples to prove half of everything DW say "is total BS marketing spin"? And maybe define what you deem as 'BS marketing spin', because others may have a different perception of what 'BS marketing spin' is.

It would be great if gumbuya added a resort . A nice low fleshed out one with pools and a cheaper side too. Just stay there a few nights and do all the vic parks

You're better off staying in/near the Melbourne CBD if you were coming down to do all 4 major themeparks/waterparks.

I feel like Coaster Studios forgoing both Aussie World and Gumbuya World is a real shame as they're missing out on two great parks with good credits available.

To be fair, the coasters on offer at those 2 parks are all clones. But yeah they are unique parks that are worth a visit.
