  1. Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H Macy of course...
  2. It isn't a rename, it's actually a different recipe altogether. Coke Zero sucks.
  3. Yeah @westical i've got to agree with you on that one - BGMRMC is one sweet little ride!
  4. i think it was the shiny GC2018 banner on the side of it. Odds on being completed prior to the games? practically zero.
  5. If the first footer into the ground equates to the ride going vertical, at what point in the loop construction does it go invertical?
  6. I think it's safe to say that 5000 Parkz members have $1 each - so if they all got together, they would have $5000 to rub together. Make up your mind! First you say theme park, now you say fun park, and then you say we should be a fair. What's next... a fete?
  7. If you mean, do i think they'll do a bunch of DC comics in a vinyl wrap around a tin shed station.... then yes.
  8. Who is "there" and why are the wolves making them move? Surely it would be better for the wolves to make their own move?
  9. The lack of an existing building to construct inside of, or plans to construct same, as well as the short distance between station and lift hill, and the POV imagery already shown in promotional videos suggests - Zero.
  10. Right - so you get 'serious money' investors to sign up to 49%, and give the parkz community 51%... Which you would need to either create a management company to hold, or you'd need to allocate a percentage share to each Parkz member. Now - first problem - have you read some of the discussions on these boards? How in the hell are you going to get everyone (being the 51% needed to carry a vote) to agree on something? All you'd need is 2% of those with voting rights to side with the serious money investors and the Parkz community would lose majority. Or, if you have a management company holding the 51% of the vote, you still need the decisions to come from a group of people - and either way, not everyone will agree. the motion on the floor is whether we construct a dark monorail walkthrough... do I hear a second? Motion fails. Crowd funding is possible, but difficult. Can you imagine crowd-managing? No. It's a nice thought. Its a nice dream. Its a horrible reality. so... just stop.
  11. Thanks for the report! That park looks fantastic, and given many of their rides have a clone or at least a counterpart over here, its somewhat saddening to see a small provincial park doing so much better at theming than what we have here. I love the four different ride options on GD (works both ways!), and that el loco looks really nice. Even the battle boats are a step up. Look forward to your next contribution - i'm sure @Gazza would encourage you to slip some of those photos into the Parkz database too.
  12. Bahahaha! Word for word, @Gazza - these guys have used your post above here (#AtomicTrumpBump)
  13. Try this forum thread from 2005. A suggestion in there said it might have been done by Kevin Ferrari based on overseas designs. A later post by @Gazza does seem to indicate it has some similarities with the 'jet' coasters. Gazza linked to a facebook group, which doesn't appear to exist anymore, but I did a little google to find https://www.facebook.com/pages/Leisureland-Fair/138550036173654 ...and this picture from 'Lost Melbourne' shows the park layout in a melways (or similar) of all things!
  14. I'm not really a fan of anything in Victoria, (don't hate it, just don't know it, and don't really care to) - but this article popped up for me today, which i'm sure people will enjoy: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/outer-east/melbournes-forgotten-theme-parks-what-happened-to-them/news-story/f522f6bf1558323a0e438b6f5391f7d2#itm=newscomau|home|nca-homepage-news-plus-story|2|heading|homepage|homepage&itmt=1497419465900
  15. It has been talked about before, but i'm pretty sure there was a bunny hill or something up top where the mountain has holes cut in it, and it was reprofiled. My memory on it is pretty vague, but i'm pretty sure @Richard had the info.
  16. Could just be very elaborate theming? Did you convert to AUD and add the Australia tax?
  17. I have noticed some new ride restraints are a lot less accommodating than they used to be - Doomsday is a perfect example.
  18. Yes but if the park has an agreement with CCA, they can't just choose to sell a different brand of water. It will form part of the agreement. And Coke can charge whatever they want provided it fits within the agreement. 15 years ago, a 600ml bottle of coke cost 90 cents wholesale (Wonderland). 10 years ago, my office bought direct from CCA for $1.90. Mount Franklin was about the same - so selling for $1.50-$2 a bottle isn't viable. And why should the park choose to have a lower margin (assuming they're both still priced roughly the same) on water? If the markup percentage is the same across the board - why should they charge less for water if their cost is the same? As for paying for something you can get for free, many bottled water drinkers choose bottled because they don't like tap water - for taste, or arguments against fluoridation, or many other reasons.
  19. CEOs are ultimately responsible for what happens in their company, and many, whilst having absolutely no link to the incident, fall on their sword. That's part and parcel of success and failure in the corporate world. She's being very nicely remunerated for it, and she will not struggle to find another position with her prior successes behind her. Do I feel sorry for her? absolutely not. Comes with the territory.
  20. @jake_hunt - i think the theory here is that they've taken a carriage, seating four, and reversed it, seating two - so the argument is that per cycle, four front facing seats are missing, and in exchange, only two rear facing seats are available, but with a separate queue. Now the flip side argument to that is - how do you know that they didn't ADD a carriage to do the reverse, instead of dropping the four front facing seats - and its a fair counter argument until you look at the station designs that have been posted, showing air gates that accommodate 24 (which makes backwards facing seem a bit like an afterthought-concept to make this coaster even more unique than it already is!) So I think the majority of butthurt is instead of a 24 capacity, its 22, so 2pp cycle, or 40 or so per hour (cbf doing the math but its not a big number either way), and then because rear facing is a separate queue, the general (front face) queue loses another 2 to a separate queue... but its all relative... because otherwise those rear facing people would be in the front facing queue anyway. the four queue lanes look like we'll see a dedicated single rider line (unless they do a 'front row' \ pole position queue separately) - so that should speed things up a bit - nothing like waiting for a single rider to make their way up 3 ramps whilst the train is waiting in the station (such as superman)! I think its good to see the park investing in single rider options - first doomsday, now DCR.
  21. 2017 still has more than 6 months to provide you with new things to bitch about... might want to hold off on / that rant for a little while... lol.
