  1. The ride operators must be pretty used to seeing things like wallets, sunglasses, mobile phones falling off the bountry... I bet the ride operator would have been surprised to have seen an adult fall from the ride... am i rite guys?
  2. I'll make a correction in the very near future (re: no passengers being on the train whilst it stopped in the boomerang). Is there anything else I've added that is incorrect?
  3. Just a note guys: The Did you know section has been updated with about 10 more different items. Go take a look and let me know of any corrections ..and Alex looking forward to those pics ;-)
  4. I've updated www.----URL removed for non-compliance with Community Guidelines----.com with a 'Did you Know' section based off of this thread. I'll keep adding to it as people post more info
  5. My questions: What year did Transylvania open? What year did International Village rename? What year did Medieval Faire rename? What year was sea demon renamed HMS Endeavour? What year was the pirate stuntact finished? (the one with soldiers and pirates fart assing around on the ship in botany bay) ^^ These are things I need clarifying in the WL history site Now some further questions: Steven Galbraith? Good guy or bad? From my googling I've found that WL seems to have treated its employees with contempt. The industrial relations commission has a whole set of instances where WL managment have been asshats to the employees and correct me if I'm wrong but the majority of WL staff were employeed as casual workers although some were working full time rostered shifts. This was so management didn't have to pay entitlements and could dismiss staff easily. How was pay like? What was employee turnover like? I read in an article (although havn't got a reference atm) that during the meeting with Galbraith to announce the parks closure police were present to escort people out the door if necessary. Confirm/deny? Now, how was WL structured? How many departments were there? How big was the maintainance crew for instance? Who made the "big" decisions affecting the managment of the park? Board of directors? Galbraith? (CEO 1) How well were the rides kept? From what I understand they were kept in "barely working order" ? Anyway, that's enough questions for now...although any stories of cool "behind the scenes" stuff would be good reading... Surely there's plenty of them!
  6. Mucho appreciated! If you have any more, defo post them..the more the better! :-P I haven't had much time this week to work on the site, but next week should definitely have some more stuff up
  7. Yes, because as we all know a left leaning government would take the approach of capitalising on a country, turning it into a theme park then selling the assets once it's done with it... Thatcher induced economic policies don't fit into the leftwing mindset unfortunately... (not partisan shrill kthx)
  8. ^^ I hear burning it isn't a good idea either In any case, seeing the bush beast getting hammered with a bulldozer, explosives or some sort of gigantic bonfire although sad would make for some damn entertaining viewing...
  9. http://www.ericsson.com.au/press/case_stud...onderland.shtml How "good" was this security system? I'll "chime" in with a few more questions shortly :-P )
  10. Thanks guys, www.----URL removed for non-compliance with Community Guidelines----.com is now active and the site is now up (in a small form). Please check out the history section and fact check what I've written there (there are dates that I don't know and will need to chase up). There's now the ability to upload photos to the site as well. Tell me what you think!

  13. Once again, I need a few photos! Does anyone have any photos of the 'sunken ship' that sat in Botany bay? Even better would be a picture with the stunt show that used to be held on it... Anyone?
  14. The hosting isn't with my ISP..the domain rego was...which was wholesale enetica pricing iirc... Edit: Standard fair with the domain package... mySQL, PHP, virtual domains, pop3 accounts, 12 gb transfer and a shell if I need it.

  16. I actually purchased the ----URL removed for non-compliance with Community Guidelines----.com domain today...just waiting for authoritave dns to kick in at my webhost and for the record to propogate...
  17. Hi guys, I haven't been making too much progress with the WL history section my site. Information is REALLY hard to come by and pictures/media even harder (although I've got a few people who have offered some stuff which is great). Anyway, I've decided to let that section sit a little whilst I work on the ride/attraction database. What I'm after now is an absoloute list of all the rides in the park and as much info on them as to how they worked, issues they had, interesting "quirks", their history.. Pretty much anything you can think of. I'm going to start the list as follows: Bush Beast Beastie Demon Space Probe Zodiac H.M.S Endeavour Snowy River Rampage Bountys Revenge ...and let you guys finish it off But then what I want to do is fill in the following details: Name of Ride: Themed Land Date Opened: Date Closed: Manufacturer: Past Owner(s): How it worked: Height: Length: Max Speed: Capacity p/h: Number of Operators: Major Incidents: Other Interesting Info: e.g: The Demon Name of Ride: The Demon Themed Land Transylvania Date Opened: 1992 Date Closed: 2004 Manufacturer/Type: Vekoma Boomerang Past Owner(s): World Expo in 1988 to 1989. Known as 'Titan' How it worked: The train is hoisted backwards up the lifthill. On release it goes through three inversions and a 'boomerang' . It is then hoisted up the second lift hill, released and returns back through the inversions into the station. Height: 38m Length: 270m Max Speed: 75km/h Capacity pph: 600 Number of Operators: 2? Major Incidents: Before being at wonderland carriage couplings sheared severely injuring its operator. Has had structural problems at WL requiring major repairs. Other Interesting Info: Was sold in late 2004 to Visionland in the United States. Deconstruction began in early December and was completed within weeks. Obviously the above information is very rough, possibly wrong..but..there's a lot of people here who know their stuff and should be able to fill in the gaps/refine information
  18. please please please! :-P Alex and I will buy you a case!
  19. Guys, Any of you have any information (or even a copy!) of an old booklet that was sold in the giftshop back in 85' with pictures and info on the construction of the park? I already have 1 ex-WL employee hunting it down for me (kudos to you kind sir) but anyone else know of anyone with a copy? *hopeful*
  20. This is the current text I've got for park history All the information above is from a ****load of googling and info off people from these forums. Let me know if there's a glaring mistake I've made or if you have any informaiton to add. What I really need now is pictures!!! Yes! Lots of pictures from the very early early days of the park (any pictures from its actual construction would earn you many brownie points) Can anyone help me here?
  21. I can host them if needed Alex... What's your msn chief?
  22. http://www.defence.gov.au/media/Department...?CurrentId=3778 ???
  23. Further to that, wasn't some of the rides even operated after the closure and some events held? I remember hearing about the defence force having some sort of training exercise at the park, and then letting them on the rides afterwards.
