  1. Which building? ;-) Anyway, nothing to report. Bush beast looks fine and I couldn't see any fire damage near it at all!
  2. Thanks for all the great info guys! Alex I'll talk to you on MSN later ;-) (and bussy add me kthx!) I've found a good site with info and pictures of all the rides at Kings Island (including the beastie): http://www.coastergallery.com/2000T/pki.html Was beastie relocated or a new one built at wonderland? And out of all the other rides, any others that were at wonderland? If you click on 'Racer' there's a picture from the 80's of when Zodiac was at the park...
  3. Haven't left yet... I'm leaving panthers at 5 so there'll still be plenty of light by the time we go past the park... If it's easy enough to make out (which I doubt it will be with the M7 in front of it) I'll try take a photo with my phone camera...
  4. I'm driving towards the city later this afternoon for a work christmas party, I'll report back later with what I see :-P
  5. Okay guys, Here's a screenshot of what the site looks like so far. The design still needs a bit of cleanup but i'm building the database now which will contain all the content. ANYWAY, what I'm really in need of the most is information about the formation of the park... I'd say that most of us are all too young to know anything of interest but is there any park insiders *hint hint* *nudge nudge* that can give me a bit of a rundown? I've got the following questions if anyone knows the answers: Who owned the park before Sunway City Berhad? What year did Sunway take over? How much did they pay for the park? What rides were initially in the park? The bushbeast and beastie, were they there from the beginning? How long did the park take to construct, which themed areas were there first? Why did they choose the current site (so far west)? Proximity to the M4? Cheap land? More importantly, i'm led to believe that a lot of the rides initially came from Paramount parks in the U.S. Is this true? Which parks and which rides were brought over? And back in 1985, does anyone know how much admission to the park costed? (I'll adjust for inflation)
  6. Here is a sample of the site so far... (if permission is granted to use the photos of course)
  7. Thanks! What name does Richard go by on here? I know Liam (flea) is responsible for a few of the videos. And I'd love to get a set of thumbnails off you! If you want to e-mail them to mickazee@gmail.com I can maybe pick a few out perhaps? Do you have any images from earlier on in the parks life? I really want to get a good cross section of wonderlands life... The hardest is digging up all the info on who financed the park, what rides it first had etc etc... I'll have to make some enquiries
  8. Hey guys, I'm in the process of searching the net for any wonderland related photos to use for the upcoming wonderland history site and had a query that someone here might be able to answer. The photos on the roller-coaster.com.au galleries (for wonderland?). Who owns the copyright to these photos? Anyone here on this forum? I'd like (with your permission of course) use it for the artwork of the new site (it'll be photoshopped into the design not a 'gallery' of images per se). And whilst we're on the topic of photos... There's been many posted here on these forums which I'll investigate later, but, do any of you guys have any websites with wonderland photos on them (and wouldn't mind me using for this site?) If so, please post the url! You'll be given full acknowledgements on this site for your contribution. Thanks guys!
  9. The swimming pool looks nasty! :-P Those are some kickass shots though..thanks mate
  10. Keep the photos comin' bus Might do a driveby this afternoon if I feel like it...
  11. Danke! I guess I should provide an E-Mail address to send stuff to! mickazee@gmail.com I'm not sure of the maximum size of the attachments but it can't be any less than a few megs I'm sure. I'll write a PHP script in the next few days to let people upload their stuff to my webserver which should be more efficient than E-Mailing it. Thanks again!
  12. Hey guys, I've been inspired recently to build a website documenting the history of Wonderland from it's construction to it's disassembly. There are a few people on this forum that are an amazing repository of information and I'll be in touch with you soon trying to get as much info as possible out of you ;-) What I need though is as much stuff as possible! Pictures, clips, inside information etc... To be honest I've never been a big fan of wonderland and definitely not a theme park nut, but, like everyone else I've grown up with the park, it's something that has "always been there" and an icon of 'western sydney' you could say (the day I go down the M4 and see the spaceprobe and bushbeast missing will be a sad one). So providing a site that gives the people like us who have grown up with it some insight on it's creation, growth, decline and closure would make for some interesting reading I'm sure (and it's what attracts me to this forum in the first place!) I'm thinking of splitting the site up into a few major sections. - Park Creation: A bit of info on the construction of the park and the major timeline of when rides were bought (plus a little history on where rides came from e.g Titan from the world expo). This is perhaps the hardest section I think. There hasn't been too much discussion in these forums about the early days of the park although I have a friend whose dad worked in a construction company for the park. If you have any info, post away! - The Rides All the info on the rides, how much they costed, where they came from, when they were decommisioned and sold. But the most interesting of this section will be the inside info that's been discussed here regularly (iirc a post by wonderbus highlights the 'shoddy' maintance performed on demon and it's major accidents and their consequences, some news about a lift cable shearing on space probe etc) - Marketing The logos of Wonderland, the advertising slogans and media campaigns (which basically stopped mid 90's with the park focussing on asian tourists etc) "Wouldn't it be wonderful if the world was wonderland" ? - The Park Park maps, timeline of the 'areas' (goldrush, hanna barberra) and when/why they were closed. - Closure A discussion on the real reasons why the park closed (cashing in on the land, poor management etc) - Gallery As many pictures and movies as possible! I know this is a really ambitious project but with everyones help we can get this off the ground. I am an experienced web designer too so design won't be a problem (and it won't look like a geocities site gone wrong). So what I'm asking for is as much info as you can provide me! Do you know interesting info about the park? I heard there were people who visited it almost every day (info on those people?) and there have been people who post on these forums who have an intimate knowledge of what happens behind the scenes at WL (your confidentiality is assured if this is an issue). Thanks guys, your input would be great!
  13. Speaking of the rides, I was driving down the M4 the other day and didn't get to take a good look but was there a tarp or something similar placed over the top of the spaceprobe? I thought they may have started disassembling it... It's also sad that coming down the motorway the construction of the M7 interchange pretty much blocks out the view to the coaster...it's a shame to see it go!
  14. If worse comes to worst they can put the spaceprobe in my backyard
  15. I always enjoy your info wonderbus Were you aware of any other plans for ride removal? Any more pics? We'll definitely know that they've moved into high gear when that highly visible and much loved structure visible from the M4 dissapears ;-)
