  1. Just FYI, The Claw is now back in operation. Dreamworld recieved a part they were waiting on from Intamin, and after a few hours of repairs and testing, it went back up about 11:30am today.
  2. Oh sorry, misinterpreted. Thats why there is always a senior operator on the west side of giant drop at dreamworld, and both operators must not leave their control panel whilst the ride is cycling. Also, again speaking from DW, i do know for a fact that all operators of the drop have been made aware of the possibilty of a cable snap and the consequences of such an event, but i do agree that it depends mucho on the person operating and their ability to react. Are you referring to the article relating to the SFKK incident?
  3. Claw had a technical problem just over two weeks ago and was put down for annual maintenance early as it was going to be a big job to fix. Flowrider PHOTOS are not going to be back until christmas, the ride was back up on Saturday and has been running since then, not a couple of weeks.
  4. All operators of the Giant Drop are trained to e-stop the ride at the slightest sign of a fault, No matter what It is. As is the same protocol for all of Dreamworlds Rides. The moment a ride is E-stopped, the operator must Call it in immeadiately, And log it on their ride documentation for the day.
  5. It was nothing to do with DW, it was a ML decision. They were in park early-mid june evaluating all of the departments and staff, and looking for ways to cut back. The COO position was obviously deemed unnecessary and was therefore abolished. So were several other positions. It happens once every couple of years, they come through, they cut back, they leave. Always the same.
  6. It was a ML Attempt at cutbacks. Several positions were made 'redundant', and I hear theres a chance they arent finished yet. Although i will confirm that DW still has a CEO.
  7. Well if you look up the application number, youll see it was approved on 15/07/1982.. somehow I dont think even dreamworld is that slow, 28 years between approval and construction, yikes. Also, the date in 2010 is listed under date lodged, "Lodged: 10/10/2010" And, lol Richard.
  8. Sounds like a way to bump up hits on his website. If anything ever comes into fruition i will happily take that back, but It looks a little seedy to me.
  9. Yeh same sort of thing, they were all developed by the same company, sudden impact entertainment. Have a look at their website.
  10. Remember Tomb Raider Live was at Dreamworld A few years ago, I think they would be looking for something a little different. And yeh, im pretty sure its meant to tie in with the time of the movie launch. I really like sudden impacts work and personally im really looking forward to it.
  11. The Giant Drop has never had a cable snap that im aware of. Lots of breakdowns and e-stops and all that other jazz, but no cable snaps. Although, all of the operators are constantly on alert for the moment a cable may snap. Every now and then they have issues with the ride breaking down and people being stuck for 15-30mins, but ive never seen any longer than 45mins. Purely because getting people off the ride safely is always the first priority.
  12. You know youre failing miserably in the conversation when you have to crack into the mindless insults. Congratulations.
  13. Yes they do, and they ask for proof of residency.
  14. Im sure Dreamworld will find a use for the Studio.. Its quite a functional space, and as mentioned before It does get used from time to time for other concerts and the like, as well as park events and awards nights etc. I think they are smarter than to let it just sit there. As for Big Brother, Good Riddance. Its just a pain to have around more than anything, and interest in it has dwindled significantly with each consecutive year. Now the main people who come in for the Big Brother attractions are the regulars, dubbed 'The Freaks' who are in every single week without fail to chase ex-housemates who are in, annoy park staff and then hang around for their grass seats for the eviction. Its pitiful.
  15. For anyone whos interested.. Thunder River will be down for approximately 15 days while they repair it. Gold rush country is officially dead quiet again, even with huge amounts of people in the park. Also, in regards to normal dreamworld attendance, id be aiming for later in the week to visit, so thursday or friday, less tour groups in. Also, Weekends are generally a little quieter than early week.. saturday more than sunday. If thats useful to you.
  16. Sorry, forgot about BB studios being open, so they can go up to 11000. When the house is open it allows 13000. Normal capacity though, as far as im aware is 10000, though it takes a while for them to realise, so it usually gets to about 10100. But thats like 2 hour waits for tower and drop, motocoaster is rediculous, Claw and wipeout are just over an hour, if running to capacity. Its full on. Its a staffing thing. The more senior operator at drop is always on the west side as it houses the main control panel, so when they only have one operator down there, it has to be on the west side, therefore reduced capacity.
  17. 10,076 at final count. Another 14 people and they would have had to have closed the gates.
  18. Dreamworld had some serious power supply issues yesterday thanks to Energex grid issues.. so there was mayhem all morning. Then soon after, Thunder river burned out the conveyor motor. hence waiting to be fixed. And yeah, attendace has been huge. A rediculous number on wednesday.
  19. The 50% off is only available online through the Macquarie website and requires presentation of a valid MLO staff ID. Im sure nobody has mentioned it because its available to such a limited scope of people. But on the note of MLO staff discounts, We also get the staff price of $3 per game at any AMF bowling centre, which they really dont like because they dont get discounts on merchandise or food and bev within DW/WWW like normal park staff do, or on annual passes etc.
  20. Kinda sounds to me like someone with an overactive imagination got bored and decided to create a wiki entry.
  21. Every now and then the operating system has a spac attack and shuts down mid cycle, leaving people stranded half way up the tower. The most common thing I know of that happens to Drop is the operator hitting the E-stop button, both deliberately and accidentally, which requires a supervisor and engineering to come and correct.
  22. And the funny thing is, it was opened and all of this done after the Thunder River Rapids maintenance was complete, the poor guys who had to repair the ride wall were all squashed under the old ramp for a day while they re-concreted it up. Also, on the topic of rapids maintenance, Gazza, did rapids seems to be running faster to you? Since it came back up on the 21st, could just be me, but it looks like its running heaps faster. Edit: Typo.
  23. Having it suddenly accelerate again.. sounds like they were having issues with the launch motors. And Dan, Tower has had fewer genuine e-brakes lately than It usually does, dunno what youre seeing. Although funny experiences... It did hit another Ibis the other day at the end of the tunnel. Lets just say thank god for the windshield.
