  1. RR is more thrilling with a much faster initial dissent that keeps the ride going at a good pace till the brake stop. EFM has the allure of being suspended and probably a more comfortable seat with no issue re leg room etc. However I believe the restraints are more comfortable on RR being a simple lap bar, EFM are too tight and over the top for this kind of ride. RR is obviously better themed with all the surrounding Rockwork, Station and Trains. For the type of rides they are I'll give EFM a 6/10 and a 7.5/10 for RR. As an area and in their current states, I would rate MW Kid's Zone 5.5/10 and 7.5/10 for DW's DreamWorks. The addition of a decent family dark ride to both properties in these areas is clearly what both are missing.
  2. Hey @jake_hunt you should copy and paste that straight onto DW Facebook, they are loving this kind of feedback and are passing it onto the Staff to help keep the great momentum going! Such a great report mate I am thrilled to hear they are doing everything to put their best foot forward and winning with smiles?
  3. News flash!! Channel7 tonight reported on GL breaking down for 15 minutes before cycling empty cars and then reopening.. Seriously wtf Channel7.. What next? "Bugs Bunny caught allegedly farting in the face of a small child after refusing a carrot?"
  4. Every good Theme Park needs a good Haunted House / Ghost Train?
  5. Hahaha you're showing your age there? God no please no more DC stuff!!! We need balance at MW and Scooby-Doo is still a very much alive and well franchise. Still I have this unneasy feeling that is hovering in the back of my mind that this may indeed be on the cards. For now at least I am trying to block that thought out and hoping it doesn't happen. Mostly because it really doesn't need to
  6. ^ there you go!! So the scenes would obviously have to be reconfigured to view in reverse and then the 1st big drop is done forwards yeah? A whole new experience with little effort. Nice one @AlexB
  7. Not entirely sure that MDMC is 'boring' - that would be to say that many other GC Theme Park rides are too, surely? Look.. the ride is far from great but I would hardly call it a fail. It still draws significant queues, largely no doubt because it's a friendlier ride to the smaller crowd. On any given day it is only beaten by TOT in terms of wait. I often bypass it because of this very reason. JR on the other hand is one of my faves- in Aussie terms it's up there with Superman and Arkham. The restraint system isn't complicated like MDMC and the second launch really makes the ride exhilarating! Of course JR is the better Coaster however maybe with going to crazy extents like extending the MDMC track, add a 2nd launch and replace the restraints we could be looking at a real winner for DW.. but that surely would cost millions.. would the $$$ be worth it?
  8. Unless it makes it an entirely new experience.. "Scooby-Doo2" perhaps??
  9. Sorry if this has already been mentioned because I pretty much rushed through the responses, has the Train been pushed through yet or is it still at the top of the lift? The Anti-rollbacks would prevent the Train from being pulled back to the station, as is the case with any chain lift Coaster. Arkham's AR's are Clever shaped fins above each car whereas the lifts on WWF and GL have the good old ratchity kind. Hence why Arkham's has the nice electric buzzing sound instead. This Coaster is one of the safest Theme Park rides around. The worse case scenario happened yesterday leaving Guests waiting to be rescued from the Lift. I have experienced this drill myself before and as a person that is generally afraid of 'unsecured heights' can I say that I felt very safe the whole time as the Emergency Crew go to every extent to put you at ease. After all, the Fire Dept in Oxenford has been assisting MW with evac drills for 20 years now. I guess with the recent events up the road these kinds of situations are being viewed by the Media and General public now in a whole different light. It's a shame that the Fire Department and MW's quick response, coupled with fact that all effected Passengers were returned safely to the ground after experiencing a ride they won't soon forget.. hmmm... Anyway... I have mentioned it already however I really hope it's not a chain breakage because it will be pretty expensive and time consuming if it is. If it does happen to be such a thing let's hope that MW have the good wisdom to aquire a 2nd train for this popular ride during the down time. It sure as shit would help with capacity and as a member of the ride's original crew, you can take that to the bank?
  10. An old saying goes in the media: 'If it bleeds it leads'
  11. Having spent many years working at MW as an Attractions Supervisor, I can tell you that an 'Emergency Stop' and subsequent evacuation of the Park rides was and still is a very common event that could happen as often as weekly. What the News need to get through their thick skulls is that E-Stops are safety features of all Theme Park rides and put in place simply when 'normal operation' is in question due to an abnormal circumstance. From an Attractions Supervisor perspective, AA (LW as was then known) was by far the simplest ride to oversee and by far the least problematic. In the event of an Estop it was an extremely simple matter to resolve 9 times out of ten. In the more complicated and time consuming scenarios would suggest a limit or proximity switch has failed (likely due to extreme heat in this situation) and the very worse case scenario would be a chain breakage ( has never happened). Worse because it would take likely months to have a new one shipped in from Europe.
  12. Very excited for this!! Like you, @AlexB I learnt to ski on Cables, it was an option at my High School to go to Cable Ski World in Runaway bay on our sports days.. Oddly enough, so was a trip out to WnW come to think of it! It's hard work on your upper arms and to anyone out there who has experienced Cable Skiing and found themselves passing outside the buoys at the turning points while still hanging on, well, you would likely know of the nasty surprises that follow!! Many years have passed since. Still, I would love to give this a go again
  13. Thanks @Jamberoo Fan I have messaged 7 with my distain on the matter. I sincerely hope that today's sensational nonsense is the last time we see it on free TV. The likes of 7 are doing nothing for their reputation with shit like this. 2017 has just begun but honestly, what's changed?
  14. WtF 7? I am sure the extra 30 seconds would have been better spent on Putin or Trump - Or any other Horse in a Hoopskirt, for that matter...
  15. Ummm.. what? Do you think I am being in some way offensive? If so then sorry chappo but you have me all wrong. I ain't no troll ?
  16. ^ or could it be the possibility that the Vintage cars are an 'in house' attraction and therefore slated for removal?
  17. 'Australiana' has always been an integral theme of DW and I would like to see that continue with plans for a suitable runaway Mine ride coaster and water coaster replacing the log ride space. These are hardly new ideas and so many of you have been asking for these attractions for ages. In particular the Mine Ride. Question remains will Ardent be prepared to shell out in excess of 20 million to bring the area back to life?
  18. I believe the area is still used as a general Maintenance workshop space. Lighting is pretty much always on in there and Fitters as well as other Maintenance crew are often spotted coming and going through those big doors. For an Enthusiast like myself it has always been an area of great interest, catching the occasional glimpse of the inside and skeleton of the mine ride coaster above.
  19. All at full speed.. They were testing the individual segments of the typical cycle. So the ride rolled upward and swang as it does. It then stopped after say two revolutions. There was a big stall whilst the Gondola appeared to be manually adjusted to it's position. It would perform it's next maneuver and then stop for a minute or two whilst slowly positioning and would then move on to the next part of the cycle. I was waiting to ride Tailspin when the testing began. Interesting the two ride's Attendants pointed something out regarding it's operation to each other once I was seated and had my back to it. They appeared rather curious as to what was happening but sorry I couldn't see. It looked essentially the standard ride cycle with big breaks in between each part. Overall the ride was operating smoothly and sounding in as good of a shape as it has in years.
  20. Exciting news!! I'm guessing HWSW and Shockwave will be among the last to reopen given recent testing. I haven't seen any work around Shockwave at all
  21. I went to MW Carnivale several times last year and had a ball eating and dancing my way through the event. Even though I have the ability to, I won't be going to the SW one. The line up of DJs and Live performances are pretty third rate and their really isnt anything new to draw people like me along to see it. Sure for $20 I think it's great value and wouldn't be at all surprised if many Tourists decide to negate a full day at the park in favour of this. The whole thing is really half arsed and 'meh' if you ask me. Even some fireworks at the end of the night could have at least been something!!! DW and the Fire Machine with extended trading and WWW is definately the season's winner in my opinion.
  22. When you have a Samsung7 or equivalent phone, like most people, I fail to see a need to carry a proper camera. Unless I was a Photographer, albeit clearly not the case. Still it's better than nothing.. right? Was the ride being tested in 'automatic' (ie fast mode?) I have seen the west facing Gondolas being raised and lowered at a glacial speed a lot, but that's it..
  23. Extensive testing of the Wipeout has been taking place today. I expect it to reopen next, and very soon!
