  1. Hi guys, quick report from MW today, 25/2 Known downtime with invasion, Batwing and wild west, unfortunately add Superman to that list so far. Only midday, but it's been closed since the park opened. Fingers crossed they'll get it going.
  2. This, plus keep in mind that BB makes a fortune from the voting revenue.. It's a perfect show for channel 10 really. Sure there are detractors (i'm not a huge fan myself).. but we need to remember just how much exposure that show has brought to Dreamworld... and will -continue- to bring. Richard is right.. the demographic Dreamworld want, watch BB.
  3. Whereabouts where you Rabid? The lockers near superman or the lockers in teh main street?
  4. First time i've been to movieworld in about 9 years... so there was a few changes for me. Firstly, just want to say that wagging work on a thursday and going to MW is awesome. The biggest line we ever had today was approximately 10 - 15 people. And the operators... my god.. those people are always professional and cheery. Honestly, i couldn't flaw the personnel down there. Sorry.. this sounds like a big "blow smoke up mw's ass" post... but i'm just stoked with the place and my trip... had a ball. OK.. onto the interesting (?) stuff. Superman was only running one train today, but it definitely wasn't an issue. The operators kept everything moving beautifully... the lockers are a good idea in a way, but unfortunately the lineup to get your stuff back out was a tad painful. we just got a locker in the main street and put everything in there before we went over. Lethal Weapon was beautifully smooth. the last refurbishment did the trick obviously (heard rumours it was getting rough a while ago) I've taken photos of the Batwing Escapes ride area, but not much to report. the whole area is still fenced off, and one small bobcat was cutting the dirt up around the main concreted ride base - it has a few pipes and wires sticking up through the concrete... and thats about it! i'll email Richard and see if he wants them. all in all, fantastic day. just had to share my joy with you guys.
  5. the problem being, is that if I bring stuff in to the park - generally i want to use it. like willsy said, bottle of water - camera... all stuff people will be carrying around. This is just greed, and this level of greed will definitely tarnish people's opinion of the park. Very sad.
  6. Nope - i didn't think it was a stupid question.. i'm quite surprised by this. My mates and i are all looking forward to going on it... so there won't be a "designated bag holder"... so thats going to cost us!
  7. Mickeyd's point is very true. I never wanted to go to MW for the Scooby Doo Coaster simply because it looked like an ancillary ride just for kids. It was only through reading this website that I knew it was somthing worthwhile.
  8. Not really. Keep in mind that these are the only complaints out of an 8 hour FULL day.... If I was to write the good things about the place the T/R would be 20 pages long.
  9. Hey guys, Had a day out at DW yesterday.. fantastic day was had all round... Even better thanks to the McDonalds tokens. One blemish on the day was the Eureka Mine Ride. We made it to just about the top of the line, waiting about 20 minutes... then 2 maintenance guys rocked on up. Apparently one of the cars seat belt buckles had broken, and they had to swap the car out. I don't mind.. these things happen.. but don't tell us "it'll just be a minute" when we were waiting for another 20 minutes while 2 maintenance guys seemingly poked randomly at the buttons on the controls to bring the system back online. Worst part was that one was obviously in trainining, and the other one would look at the operator constantly rolling his eyes??? not exactly professional. after waiting for 40 minutes in total with still no end in site, we gave up and left. Claw was down (17/10 - 31/10)... but I knew about that already so it wasn't a shock. Still depressing to see it there surrounded by temporary fencing, not being able to ride the best thing in the park. Had one guy on a cherry picker in the morning working on the engines, but after that it sat dormant. Paddle Steam was down too.. and is it ever! the thing was stripped down to skeleton practically. all railings, all seats etc are gone. Wiggles world has way too many colors in it and should be soon the destination of choice for people on LSD. I saw the new theming on the River Rapids...and it definitely does look better. You don't get as wet now either. Don't know if they changed the water layout or not, but i noticed that you don't go through any waterfalls anymore. the two they had previously have been turned off. Luckily we went straight onto the log ride after that and were drenched. I know people have complained about the bizarre theming on the ride, and i have to agree. Why, in the middle of a gold-rush type scene is a huge dinosaur in the attic of one of the relic buildings.. i have no idea. they should've just left the skeleton. Basically only one bad spot on an otherwise excellent day.. so can't really complain too much.
  10. ..and there ya have it. never been to Sydney's Luna Park but I just had a look at the Gallery, and thats definitely it. It's probably the one that was doing the show circuit and then got a permanent placement down there. "tango" train though? ewww. What i like about the rides description on the LPS website is that it has a "disco" theme. Then WTF is up with calling it tango then?? awwww now i have to go to Sydney. that ride was a hoot when i was a kid. Thanks Paul!
  11. Oh god... thanks for this memory trip. The disco train was used at the Exhibition (brisbane show) back in the 80's/early 90's. My recollection, which i must admit is a bit fuzzy was that there was an accident with it. someone played with their harness while they were on it, flew out and was hospitalised. I never saw the ride again! it was like the Matterhorn, except the chairs were fixed to the floor so instead of flying up, you pinned the guy sitting on the outside of the chair against the side. It was the best!
  12. Sweet jesus!!! "no.. we can afford to renovate the ride. Here, just take this liquid paper and go nuts..."
  13. *waits for huss to pop a vein....* :-) In all honesty though, Ali Baba realy isn't the same. it's not as high, it's too restrained (shoulder harnesses???) and doesn't have the same air time as the Rainbow.
  14. Thanks guys! :-) gotta love the canon g6's. nice to know it's useful for something other than bloody relative birthdays.
  15. Hey DC: The rainbow-type ride is the ali-baba... which IMHO isn't as good as the rainbow.. i think you're right, the rainbow was taller or something(?) Shame the rainbow doesn't make appearances anymore. The "Crazy coaster" (same one that was there last year) is there again, down towards the woodchop area.
  16. Oh.. sorry for double posting too, but in reply to Nebuchanazzer: In 2001 at a fair the chaos completely collapsed (and apparently rolled like a wheel) http://www.rideaccidents.com/2001.html#jul30b The other i believe the restraints on one of the seats came loose, but the rider stayed in (thanks to a good grip).
  17. Hey guys - went to the Ekka yesterday, have some photos to add to the collection (some worked out really nice). Shall contribute them to this site tonight. just wanted to say though - the hard rock is AMAZING. truly incredible. Twin Flip however.. nebuchanazzar.... you're insane! :-) I'm in my 30's now. it would probably kill me!!
  18. Hi guys, I had the same problem with the installation, but mine eventually worked: Use these guidelines and you should be right: don't use firefox to do it. don't use getright. use Internet Explorer, and when it asks 'run' or 'save as'... just hit run.
  19. well, went to d/world yesterday and the wipeout is completely in bits.. "annual maintenance". Hopefully this should get rid of most of the problems mentioned above. Shame though - i loved that ride and there was a chorus of "awwwww" when we saw it was dead at the entrance gate. Claw made up for it though. well and truly.
  20. Sorry Adjack - i mean theres normally conditions to the "adults at kids prices" promotion, i.e. adults can get the promotion provided they take 3 kids or something like that?
  21. If they've done this before, does anyone know the details? i.e. Adults at kids prices... IF.... you take 40 kids with you, you arrive at 4:00pm, you leave your first born at the ticket office... etc?
  22. Hey guys, I've done some searching through the forums and noticed a few people taking jabs at the cyclone... Haven't been on it yet, just wondering if people give it the thumbs down or up and if down - why?
  23. It's a 3d tech demo based in a fair - has a series of flat rides.. giant drop, frisbee, ferris wheel etc... it won a demoscene competition back in 2002.
  24. Hey guys, Not sure if this has been posted before, but anyone with a semi-decent PC and an interest in amusement rides MUST download this. Absolutely brilliant... http://www.smash-designs.de/releases/pc/adrenalin.zip
