  1. Even though I don't play the game much anymore I felt obliged to get this expansion pack considering I am a fan of the series and have all the other games and their expansion packs. So far it seems reasonably good, though I had a few problems with graphics at one stage which I blame on my crappy graphics card. Adding the underground section to Rollercoasters was something I didn't realise this game included so I was quite pleased to see them return and were missed in the original RCT3 (and if anyone saw how I had to create the mine ride at Dreamworld with out underground functions than you will know what I mean). It is definately a good premise for an expansion pack and it seems to quite good. And I have read also that another expansion is already in the making that allows you to add zoos/safaris to the themeparks, whether this is a necessary expansion or not I don't really know but so long as it comes with lots of extra themes I will be happy.
  2. Since I take the train from Brisbane to Dreamworld I can tell you this. The train that runs the Gold Coast line is generally one that travels directly to and from (I think) Brisbane airport so you could most likely take the train all the way to Coomera Station from Brisbane airport (but do check the transinfo site anyway.) At the bottom of Coomera train station, Dreamworld has a shuttle bus service where you pay $4 for return trip to Dreamworld with trips leaving approximately every 15 minutes or so in the mornings and afternoons (leaving after each train arrives at Coomera for convenience) and you can also purchase park tickets there so then you don't have to queue for very long at the front gate, so this definately comes in very handy. The trip by train to Coomera from Brisbane city is approximately an hour (running express from South Bank to Beenleigh) so travelling from the airport would add another 15-20 minutes. Hope that helps in choosing what airport to come from.
  3. True, but that is because of the angle that the picture was taken and there clearly aren't any trademarks in it. But in a park like Movie World, if you took a picture of any other place in the park, you could probably get a Warner Bros trademarked logo or character somewhere in the background and that is obviously what they don't want. Just because there aren't any trademarks in a photo like that doesn't mean there won't be in any other photo. And if Movie World is annoyed by having so many requests from sites to use images/trademarks etc, then the last thing they would want to do is to scan and approve every photo that is to go online just to make sure they are all like your example and have no trademarks in it. As such, to save that problem, they just ban it all together. Makes sense to me.
  4. I was only joking. I myself will be looking more towards working in corporate law, so I won't be chasing ambulances or none of the other stuff that breaks up families and the like.
  5. While my original point by now has lost a little bit of its objective by now, i will just quote the back of a ticket: "The owners and operators of these premises and attractions shall not be liable for any injury or damage to any property arising from any cause whatsoever (including the negligence of staff) while on these premises or attending any of the attractions." That is all my example was based upon, and I am sure WVTP has a legal team to help protect them from liability so this obviously wasn't just added on there to fill the back of a page. And yes, I do see the alternative view with the examples, and yes it is unfortunate that people can sue for their own stupidity however it does create jobs for those like me studing to be lawyers so I shouldn't complain too much. But either way my simple little example got the thread a little off topic but my point main point still remains. WVTP would have several legal arguments it could use to justify its policy and to sue those who breach it. And yes while it may be a waste of money pursuing internet fansites, they may decide to sue just one site as to send the example of what could happen to other sites to discourage them from doing similar things.
  6. Actually I should think would get in trouble. Firstly, copyright laws would protect a corporation or individual's ownership and control of use of trademarks/characters/etc. and give WVTP the right to refuse their display online, and this I am sure would be enforceable by a court. Secondly, anyone who publishes or takes the photos would have been in breach of such laws. To quote my park brochure: "Any use, reuse, or reproduction for commercial purposes without the express written consent of Warner Bros Movie World is strictly prohibited and CONTRAVENES COPYRIGHT LAWS." Secondly, it is a contractual term of entry that such photos are not to be used for commercial purposes. When you purchase your ticket and enter the park, you accept all terms of agreement and would be contractually bound by them. So anyone who took the photos and then distributed them online would be found for breach of contract. This is why the parks have so many terms of entry, to protect themselves from liability. For example, if you enter the park, you agree with the terms of entry that they are not liable for any injury or damage to property and so if you tripped in the park and hurt your leg, you would have a difficult time suing them because you entered at your own risk and waived to sue. So likewise, if you enter and break the terms of entry stating that personal photos can not be used for commercial gain, they can sue you, and combined with any copyright infringement they would be very successful I am sure. So I basically strongly advise not following the suggestions of some angry theme park enthusiasts and putting them online anyway, because from what is common sense to me and also from what I have learnt in the law degree I am studying at University - WVTP would have many avenues of legal action which they can take and they would most likely be successful.
  7. Yeah I agree, the Batman pre-ride does add quite alot to the ride. Having to watch a movie over and over again in the pre-ride of WWF and and Lethal Weapon like they used to doesn't really emmerse you into the ride experience at all. But walking through Wayne Manor and then through the Batcave is what makes the ride and sets up for the whole simulator experience. And this is the objective I believe of any themepark - to transport you out of reality into another world - and so the pre-ride part of Batman I think is very important and worth going through several times.
  8. They should change it now to become Batman - The Ride 3, and make a new motion simulator sequence based around the new movie. I always felt the original Batman ride was better than the one they changed it to. (Can't wait for the movie to come out too, looks really good.)
  9. Hey don't make fun of the trains - it is my only mode of transportation down there, lol. But oh well, I am sure you will survive joining us 'commoners' who rely on public transport all the time, lol.
  10. Well it is on this weekend and I managed to get a ticket for it when I went the other week, so I will be attending (not that anyone would care), but I am really looking forward to it. So just to clarify, is a forum get together still happening? and how many others are definately going to go?
  11. ^^^^ Off topic, but the above post I noticed was the 25,000th post on the R-C.com.au forums. Congratulations to the site for reaching this milestone of sorts.
  12. Well the show has begun and I did watch the opening last night. The house looks great, and so does the amphitheatre at Dreamworld for the evictions. As with most seasons, I really don't care for many of the housemates - I know I would be driven to near insanity living with those people. But I personally don't agree much with the adverts for the show which described the housemates as all being good looking - I didn't really find any of them to be overly attractive - but thats just me.
  13. Don't hold your breath for it. I don't really get much of a chance to play the game much anymore, so don't expect a finished park for a long time.
  14. I went to Dreamworld on Friday (6th May) and the chairlift was still as it was described above and Dreamworld doesn't seem to be in a rush to get rid of it. Other than that, no real need for a trip report from me because I must say it was probably the best day I had spent at Dreamworld and I had absolutely no complaints about anything. The park wasn't busy at all and within 45 mins of being in the park I had been on the Claw, Wipeout, Cyclone, Reptar and was inline for TOT. Queue lines were very short and the wait for Cyclone wasn't ever more than 5-10 mins. Though I was lucky on Cyclone because I finally got to sit in the front row of the coaster for the first time, and when it arrived back at the station, the gate failed to shut so by Dreamworld safety procedure, they wouldn't unload the train until a technician gave it the ok, so they sent us around for a second time in a row which was great. Other than that, perfect day. Staff were mostly great, except for one that seemed more interested in whether his car was still in the parking lot than loading cyclone, and I was unlucky enough to be walking past Tiger Island during "mating" season, but other than that it was a great day, and I also bought a Max Action Pass and my ticket for Screamworld in a few weeks. (So my wallet felt much lighter by the end.)
  15. Today I managed to build the entrance to the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, which will hopefully allow me to build out from there depending on whether or not I find the time to play the game or not. Hopefully I should be going to Movie World in about three weeks when I might get an annual pass so hopefully I should be able to continue the recreation more accurately after that, though I am sure it will be very slow progress unfortunately. Anyway, here is a screenshot of the entrance to Scooby. (I have also built the station and the first segment of the ride, but it will get a screenshot once I have completed more.
  16. Cool, I am at Griffith. But don't worry about trying to pass English, it isn't that hard to pass. I managed. And don't worry too much about QCS at the end of the year, it is stupid and hardly counts for anything. Especially if you have already been accepted to Uni, it is pretty much useless.
  17. The Rivertown area does need something done to it so I guess that will be where the Wiggles will go. When I went in March, I didn't once walk anywhere near that area of the park so it definately needs some work done there.
  18. Great review. The ibis on the Tower of Terror is hilarious, and I most definately agree with how big the queue problems are at Dreamworld, especially Cyclone. I didn't have to wait as long as you did for Reptar when I was there, but I still enjoyed it on the basis I didn't have to spend to much time waiting for it. And I agree the view from the Giant Drop is great, though I have only been on the Gold Coast facing side. And I agree completely with your comments about The Claw. Originally I wasn't happy with the addition of the Claw as I would have much prefered another coaster to replace Thunderbolt, though once I was there and thoroughly enjoyed riding it, I thought that it was the best addition Dreamworld has made. The high capacity levels and subsequent short queue length makes it even greater and it is a good ride to watch. And finally I agree that tickets should be pre-purchased. All of the times I have been to Dreamworld I have used pre-paid tickets and have never had to wait more than 5 minutes, so I highly recommend it. Great review Drewboy.
  19. I noticed Saturday's Courier Mail in Brisbane had a short little part on DubiaLand, the HUGE leisure land planned to be built in Dubai. I checked out the URL for the official site provided http://www.dubailand.ae/ and all I can say is WOW! When I saw that the mentioning of this being built for Dubai, I knew it would be something special because that city is absolutely amazing. The very oil-rich country of the United Arab Emirates spends tremendous amounts of money over the last decade turning this desert region on the Persian Gulf into the most spectacular city in the world, and very close to the top of the places in the world I most want to visit. This planned leisure area is MASSIVE and if you look at the satellite image on the website I mentioned above, you will see what I mean. It comprises of six worlds (though they really could have done a better job choosing the names): *Downtown - Restaurants, shopping, night clubs... *Eco-Tourism World - Museums, Zoos, Safaris. Even a Dinosaur world safari, like Jurassic Park I suppose, though maybe not real dinosaurs. *Retail & Entertainment World - Shops, shops and more shops. *Sports and Outdoors World - Stadiums, golf courses, race tracks. *Themed Leisure & Vacation World - 5 Star hotels and resorts And the one we are most interested in: *Attractions & Experience World - The ultimate themepark destination. 145 million square feet of the world's best rides and attractions. With the amount of money they are putting into this place, we can expect the best rollercoasters in the world. This will be where the record breaking new rides will be. This area has water parks, ski slopes (in the desert?) and film studios. It probably sounds as though I am a sales person for this project but I'm not, I just think that Dubai is the most amazing city in the world and this themepark will be definately one to visit. Check out http://www.dubailand.ae/ if you want to see more. I haven't looked at the video yet, but I will have a look later. So here is a thread to chat about this amazing place.
  20. What is hard about creating islands and/or a lake in the middle? Just dig some holes and create some rivers/creeks where you want them and fill them with water.
  21. Sorry, but other things have come up this week. I have a family reunion (how boring) and an assignment to do next week so I won't be able to start. And I can't make promises for after that either at this stage, so I think it would be best for someone else to start off, cause it may be a while before I get a good amount of time to start.
  22. I don't really want to travel Dreamworld taking a bus, two trains and another bus to get there, buy the ticket, and then take the bus, two trains and another bus to get back again. Just not worth the effort I don't think.
  23. I'd want to go to, but from my quick view of the site, you can only purchase online via credit card I think and I don't have one.
  24. You're right. Ekka is slang for Exhibition.
