  1. Erm, not so. Those 50 people are more than likely in line for another ride, adding to the other ride's wait time. Q4U allows you to effectively queue in 2 lines at one; one real line and one virtual line. Speaking from personal experience, we used Q4U a couple of days ago. This allowed us to get through all the rides at Dreamworld that we wanted to do in 1/2 the time it would normally take us, as we virtually queued in the longer lines and physically queued in the shorter lines at the same time. A guest without Q4U undoubtedly would take longer to complete the park - eg they're waiting in line exclusively for Tower of Terror for 1 hour when we walk right on after having done several other rides during the waiting time. I personally will never go to Dreamworld again without a Q4U. (Oh, and according to the Q4U person, DW now have 147 units and she said the park could take a maximum of 200).
  2. Woohoo! I rang Guest Services today (Thursday 22nd) at 4pm, was told the ride was open, got to SeaWorld in record time and we managed to get on for our first ride. Only one train was running, and we arrived at the ride at about 4:35pm to see the switchbacks full and some spillover behind, but we boarded (front seats) after 20 minutes or so of waiting. *Well worth the effort*. It's a great ride, with the excitement maintained throughout the entire duration of the ride because of the second launch. The sitting position and restraint are really well thought out for fast loading/unloading and enhanced excitement. This one goes right into our top 10 because not only is it thrilling, but it's FUN to ride. We'll be back again over the weekend for lots more rides of this one.
  3. Still down as of today (Wed 21st Jan), which makes it 8 days (we went back for a dolphin encounter - great but overpriced experience IMO btw). No meaningful response from Guest Services regarding what's going on/ETA for ride return.
  4. Yes, a QBot is queue jumping simply because it allows you to ride more rides than physically possible if you were to join the queues for real (the example of riding Claw and Wipeout whilst waiting out the virtual queue time on Cyclone is spot on the money and exactly how I would use a QBot). So what? I'm sorry, but I don't care about the hypothetical family who can't afford the QBot and how they are disadvantaged by QBot users. I am at a park to enjoy myself as much as possible. For me, that means maximizing the number of rides I take and if I can achieve this by the use of a QBot then I will if the QBot is priced appropriately. If QBots fail to deliver (too many QBots, too highly priced, don't work properly) then they will not sell.
  5. Grrrr. We went to SeaWorld yesterday (Monday 19th) and it was still closed. There's nothing at all on the SeaWorld website advising that the ride is closed, and the only advance notice is a small note at the park entrance (AFTER waiting in a long slow-moving queue to get to the park entrance in the first place - partly our fault for underestimating the Gold Coast am peak hour traffic so we only got to the park at 10am instead of before opening). The ride is still being advertised all over local TV, which is only adding to our disappointment. Looks like 6 days of down time so far, and with no meaningful information available from park staff, the plausible explanation posted on this thread suggests a long, long down time to come. Sigh. Oh well, at least we clocked up the Corkscrew credit whilst we were there.
  6. Hi all, Frequent lurker, never poster. Thanks to all of you that have contributed information to this thread - I have been following it for some time eagerly awaiting the opening of this ride. My daughter and I are coaster fanatics, and will be up at SeaWorld towards the end of January to ride Jet Rescue, and are really looking forward to it. My daughter is 8, so height restrictions for rides are always highly relevant for us (at least until she grows to over 140cm!). For some reason, this information is often hard to come by - even now the SeaWorld web site simply states "Please check with Guest Services on the day of your visit" - hardly helpful if you're planning a trip specifically to ride. Anyhow, for those that want to know, according to an email reply I got from SeaWorld Guest Services, the minimum height for this ride is 125cm and the maximum is 196cm (woohoo - we can both ride!). Also, if you want to download the video from the SeaWorld web site so you can play it back at your leisure instead of wasting bandwidth streaming it, the direct download link is; http://myfun.com.au/images/galleries/seawo...trescue/vid.flv You'll need a suitable player such as VLC media player to play it. Cheers MichaelD
