  1. Don't take this as law, but from memory the nachos at the Tiger Island Bengal Tea House are around $7.95. This is a lot cheaper than nachos at any cafe and I have to say they are the BEST nachos i've ever tasted. But when you look at the prices they charge for post-mix soft drink, i think it's majorly overpriced. Dad always got a t-bone from the restaurant where they used to have the Tony & Juliet(?) illusion show and he didn't seem to think it was that over-priced.

  2. Hey scott, I'm glad you had a good time at Seaworld Nara Resort. We stayed there a few years ago and we were fairly disappointed. The hotel is hardly any better than a Mercure or hotels of a 3.5 star standard and when we were there, there "room only" rate was much higher than hotels of a similar standard. As it's location is a bit inconvenient and we were only going away for a short break we decided to get a rate that included unlimited entry into Seaworld. I think we are still undecided on whether it was the right way to go or not. We didn't really need much more than 1 full day to spend seeing the attractions at Seaworld as we didn't going during peak time. The only real benefit of staying at Seaworld Nara Resort with unlimited entry is that you can drag your exploring of Seaworld out over the duration of your stay. One thing I do remember is mum and dad telling their friends how accommodating and pleasant the ride ops and general staff were at Seaworld. This is a great compliment to them as my parents have a real thing about manners and being polite. Mum was especially impressed with the staff on The Burmuda Triange. I personally haven't been to Seaworld for a few years now because I find that I get bored spending a whole day - the animal exhibits don't really do it for me. Based on what I remember though, Seaworld has fantastic staff, and dare I say it- The best staff out of all the Gold Coast theme parks. Perhaps if Seaworld were to build a world class thrill ride, I would visit it more frequently.

  3. I agree with you djrappa, Perilous Plunge would be a fantastic water ride to have. If Dreamworld was to get it, I would really hope that they cover up the supports with some sort of themeing because pictures of Perilous Plunge make it look as though its some temporary sort of attraction with those hidious supports. If we did get it, I don't know how keen I'd be to go on it without harnesses. (I'll get back to you on that, LOL) joz: Anything would be a vast improvement on Creature Cruise. That 'ride' in my opinion was the worst 'investment' Dreamworld has ever made. I think the Skylink was more thrilling.... :P

  4. Yeah, I've seen those pictures as well Skipper. The ride does look great. It seems that SkeiKra will be the only Dive Machine to have decent themeing. Oblivion and Diving Machine G5 don't have the same appeal as the artist's impression of Skeikra due to their lack of themeing. I can only hope that if we do get a Dive Machine (I very much doubt), it will be heavily themed to something original, but at worst, a copy of Sheikra would still be fantastic!

  5. I completely agree with you OzCoasterFreek, a B&M dive machine would be a great addition to the old Thunderbolt Area. It would be great if they could move cyclone to another part of the park so that if a dive machine was put in, it could be clearly seen from the Pacific Motorway. A clone of SheiKra would look much more impressive than what the Cyclone does. Although if Dreamworld did put in a B&M dive machine in I would certainly be there opening day to ride it, but I think I would probably **** myself on the vertical plunge.

I want a Mack Water Coaster but I know they're not getting one  What they are getting though, will be just as good.
What do you mean by this Adam?
  6. Hey guys, I have a question for you. When you look at Dreamworld's two water rides, rocky hollow log ride and thunder river rapids, they seem fairly dated/primitive compared to Movie World's Wild West Falls. It would a logical assumption to make that Dreamworld will have to invest in a new water ride over the new few years or so. Out of all the water rides available which Dreamworld could install, which do you think would be the most thrilling and have the latest technology and where would you like to see it positioned in the park? Personally I would like to see an Intamin Super Splash with heavy themeing such as http://www.intaminworldwide.com/fenster/i_...supersplash.htm . What do you guys think?

  7. Glubbo, I distinctly remember seeing the majority of the rumours thunder001 posted. I am not sure what is meant by "The two new S&S attractions that the park will be buying this year", but other than that, I remember seeing all the other rumours on our r-c forums.

  8. Screamscape’s sources tell us that the ride will be an Intamin Rocket coaster and will start off the themed adventure in a Metropolis Subway station. The train will advance into another room where Lex Luthor appears and causes an earthquake. The train will attempt to escape on it’s own to no avail and upon entering the next room Superman will appear and “attach” himself to the back of the train, pushing you to the safety of the outdoors at around 100 mph in just 2 seconds where it will then climb up a large top-hat and into a set of camel back airtime hills before coming to an end.
Pitty that it's only a rumour...the ride was starting to sound really good and I really had my hopes up. I guess nothing is 'concrete' until we see press/media releases.
  9. No Offence to Drewboy (ok maybe a little.... ok maybe a lot) But i'd like to see you have the brains and the cash to build your own, working, properly engineered coaster. Season passes? yes. an option, riding with everyone else, during operating hours... own coaster? get your name in the papers, on tv, on the net, interviews, publicity, exposing your many engineering talents and scoring yourself a job with a top company because of that exposure, as well as your own little private coaster you can ride ANY time you like.....   i know which one i would pick
Well I am entitled to my own opinion mate. I think most people would get bored with his **** roller coaster after a few rides. And sorry, money wouldn't be a problem at all. If publicity is all your after, there are other ways of getting into the papers.
  10. The only way I think they could possibly put a new major attraction into Gold Rush is to go into park of the carpark located next to the Gold Rush chairlift station. They can't go away from the carpark and over the River Rapids reservoir because I believe the reservoir it is needed at night to store the ride's water and rafts. If they were to continue the Gold Rush theme, perhaps they should wait for the Big Brother series to finish, which I believe has been commissioned till 2007, and use that space. Although I don't want to wait till mid 2008 at the earliest to see a new major attraction. Personally I would like to see Dreamworld re-theme the area of Gum Tree Gully and Rivertown into a brand new theme, perhaps something futuristic, and build over the island so it appears to be 'on water', or get rid of the island completely by filling it in some how (I have no idea if this is actually possible at all) and build the attraction 'on land'.

  11. The answer is simple, Sydney has a lot of tourist attractions already (Harbour, Harbour Bridge, Opera House, etc).  What does the Gold Coast have?  Theme parks and that is about it.  No land mark buildings or anything that is a major drawcard.
Actually wonderbus2003, many people from Asia come to Australia to see tourist attractions such as the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Surfers Paradise beach. I think you are forgetting that our beaches in QLD are a major drawing card to visit us, as many tourists have never seen anything like our beaches. I don't really think anyone can say tourists would come to Australia to see Bondi beach as a beach, they would only visit Bondi because of its name. I think its fair to say that Surfers Paradise is the superior east coast beach. Also, tourists that visit Australia don't just visit one city, they will most likely travel around the country. This means that we have enough international tourists up here in QLD to support our many themeparks and the people in NSW and other Australian states and territories can have many of the same guests support their local tourist attractions. If someone goes on a holiday overseas, it is very unlikely that they will only visit one city, they tend to travel around to see as much of a region as possible and see ALL the sites, not just focussing on ONE attraction.
  12. Hey guys, when I was watching Video Hits on channel 10 on Sunday morning, this new clip came on and they appeared to be at a theme/amusement park. One of the rides I saw was something that looked like the old Dragon Coaster that was in the "Tops" section of the Myer Centre in Brisbane. Did anyone else see this or has any idea which theme/amusemetn park it was? Also, sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone know what happened to the Dragon Coaster when "Tops" was removed to make way for the cinemas?

  13. Thanks Richard and Djrappa! We are staying at the Anaheim Hilton while staying in Anaheim. We are staying for 4 nights there and we'll have our 3 Day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper BonusTicket as well as 1 day at Knott's Berry Farm. We will be staying in Hollywood for 3 nights and while there we will do Universal Studios and most likely SFMM. Are there any sitcoms or something 'interesting' that's filmed in Hollywood - I would really like to visit one. Hopefully we will find a tour we can do in Anaheim that will let us visit the set of "The OC". Djrappa, our budget doesn't really stretch to the Disneyland Hotels. They seem really expensive! They are double the price of the Hilton and I'm sure the Hilton will do fine, you never know, I could bump into Paris! ;) *wishes* Haha I really want to go to SFMM but because on this trip my friend and me will only be 19 and 20, we can't hire a car and taxi's are too expensive. $40 doesn't seem too bad when you consider how much this whole trip is costing each of us! What exactly is wrong with SFMM, it seems to leave a "bad taste" in everyones mouth? Atleast when we do New York and Las Vegas we won't have to waste money on theme parks. Well we will ride the rollercoaster at New York New York and Stratosphere in Las Vegas, but I'm not aware of anything like that in New York. So I guess a lot of our money is being "used" in the begining of our holiday because of Disneyland, Knott's, Universal and SFMM as we're going from Brisbane to LA, then we're doing Las Vegas and lastly New York, then back to LA and home.

  14. Thanks so far. Well we have already planned to go to Disneyland for 3 days using a Disneyland Resort Park Hopper BonusTicket. We are also spending a full day at Universal Studios and a full day at Knott's Berry farm. I really want to go to SFMM to experience some decent rollercoasters but I don't know how you would get there from Anaheim. We are going to stay at Hollywood when we stay in Los Angeles so maybe it would be easier to do SFMM while staying there. We have about 4-5 USA brochures and SFMM is not mentioned once. It's really strange.
