  1. Pretty quiet news cycle for Adventure World considering that they're opening this week. They have their annual physics day on Friday. There's an interview with their new F&B manager. It should be interesting to see what they improve there (perhaps they'll get rid of the donuts?). http://www.ausleisure.com.au/news/new-manager-to-shake-up-the-fb-offerings-at-adventure-world/ Apparently you can hire the park for your company. It states that the park had an 8000 person capacity for the previous season. That would be crowded. http://adventureworld.net.au/#/group-functions/exclusive-park-hire/ The new character, Yarlotte, has arrived, making her older brother look a little bit faded. http://adventureworld.net.au/#/news-events/look-who-has-arrived!/ Apparently Fright Nights will only be run over two nights this year. The limited early bird tickets sale ends this week. It sounds like they might be policing the bands a little better than they did last year.
  2. I heard too many people wandered off when they had the tram ride. I agree, they should have another show or something to connect with the film studio theme.
  3. Yup, nothing like them. Where's the big pole thing sticking up out the back? They look to be more like under powered go karts, like they have at Adventure World. I sure would like to see them do goat carts - now that would be cool.
  4. I think having working studios attached to a movie-themed park adds legitimacy to the park. It's like the difference between USH and USS.
  5. The type of people who normally ride Rampage. I think they are trying to theme up the area around Abyss, so they're not just an amusement park. Now if they could only tackle the Free Fall.
  6. Thanks for that trip report, Jobe. I'm visiting LPM in a couple of weeks - can't wait.
  7. Only if they could bring the Chipmunk back out of retirement. On a more serious note, is there enough room for a Eurofighter? The Abyss is freakishly quiet.
  8. My bad: the white foam cuffs as opposed to the handcuffs. One week to go.
  9. It would be interesting to see if there is any sound. fog or movement to this beast and how it's incorporated into the ride. I presume the 'cufflinks' are only there until they have the big guy installed. Hopefully everything will be up and running by the end of next week.
  10. ^Yeah, he's just a young un'. Dejiki is very polished and professional and Luke and the Temple of Fun is also very popular. I think the guy who runs LATTOF has been in China these last couple of months. What made me cringe on the Second Drop blog was the guy's first experience of going on a big coaster - very tragic. If most Singaporeans are this afraid of a big coaster, no wonder it's just a five minute wait for BSG (when it's working). I guess you gotta start somewhere.
  11. ^ Bought that Lotto ticket yet? Not long until the show and AW's season start.
  12. Yeah, I really enjoyed both sides to BSG and with the Singaporean distaste for large coasters I was always able to get on with less than a five minute wait. Hopefully they'll give the new coaster some nice theming on the lift hill. It looks to be an interesting little ride.
  13. Chippendales was my first thought. Is that beast wearing cufflinks?
  14. According to Dejiki, the BSG coaster will reopen later this year. Some of the track has been painted bright blue where repairs have been carried out. The Puss in Boots coaster's track is complete and work is being done on show elements, possibly around its circular lift hill. The Puss in Boots show is apparently up and running.
  15. And how long you can expect to be in the queue for.
  16. I agree, this is a pretty serious issue. Overseas parks, especially Disneyland Hong Kong are pretty thorough when it comes to bag searches. I'm just reading Robert Niles' Theme Park Insider book and it seems that the US parks have a lot of undercover security. Perhaps, this is where they'll beef things up.
  17. Finally got around to seeing this. I thought the film started off really well and the ending was kind of lacking. The park scenes were great. I do wonder how they did the poor dolphin scene, not to mention the slide racing. Totally gross.
  18. ^ That would be nice. So are these cars electric or are they fuming the place up?
  19. There are also a lot of country shows on at the moment. Northam is this weekend.
  20. So human.. and the bear's not bad too. Goodluck Mr Dasco.
  21. And we could call it the Cork Viper. Order now and we could have it up by Christmas.
  22. China apparently has lots.. whether you would actually want to ride them. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Amusement-park-ride-roller-coaster_1761263168.html?s=p
  23. Diversifying - not everyone goes to Surfers to go to the theme parks - perhaps they go surfing? I agree with the two posts above. Most Australians would be quite happy for us to go back to the theme park situation we had in 1974. Most of them don't care about thrill rides or theme parks. Congrats on getting on the Tail Spin so early. It's a shame you didn't like it.
  24. They're building a new version of the Storm coaster or perhaps another ride that is apparently considered a flop in Australia?
  25. I think the queues will be huge for quite some time. It has a niche market but a small capacity. I reckon they should have a fast pass booking system, so the families dont have to spend too long waiting in line.
