  1. I'm gonna split mine between Steel and Wooden. For Steel, I'd say Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure is the best I've been on. Just really smooth, really long, great height and great airtime. And that first drop after the massive lift hill! For Wooden, even though I did love El Toro and thought it was terrific, I gotta say that I think I had more fun on GhostRider at Knott's Berry Farm. An awesome, fast, out of control feeling and a really long track winding in and out from under the track supports. Makes me really wish we would get a good wooden coaster here in Qld someday!
  2. Hmm, I was planning to go on Friday because I thought it'd be quieter with QLD holidays finished...
  3. Yeah, I don't know much about how MW could make it work, but I would love to see it. Superman was a very different experience at night and I bet Green Lantern, Batwing and Arkham Asylum would be fun at night as well. Screamworld seems to be popular so you'd think MW could make it happen.
  4. Went to Movieworld for the first time in a few years today, so thought I'd leave my impressions here. And yes, we knew it'd be very busy today, but we just bought VIP Passes, so we didn't mind since we can come back anytime. That said, we only got on 4 rides, waiting for over an hour for each. - Scooby was first, and it's as great as ever. 9/10 - Next was Green Lantern, my first ride of it. The queue and themeing was ok I guess, nothing special and not quite up to MW standards I think. I quite liked the ride itself. Having only a lap bar felt weird and the first drop and upside down sections felt scarier because of it! The audio wasn't working though, and it felt a little bit slow. To be honest, it felt a bit like a Six Flags ride, whereas most MW rides feel Universal Studios-like. 7.5/10 - Arkham Asylum was next. The updated ride and themeing are great! I could focus on the experience instead of my sore neck/ears! Some nice themeing in the queue as well. Because of the update, this is now a must-do ride. 9/10 - We finished off the day with Superman. With the long waiting time and uninteresting queue, I wasn't super excited when I finally got on, which was about 5:40 by then. Once it started though, I remembered how awesome this coaster is! And then once we were shot out of the tunnel, it was night-time, which made for a completely different and very cool experience. Australia's best ride IMO. 10/10 Experiencing Superman at night and then seeing Main Street and the rest of the park lit up, it made me really wish MW had longer hours, or regular Screamworld-like events. I guess they need a few more attractions first, to make it a true all-day park, but that last 15 mins was so awesome! Overall, it was a tiring day full of queuing, but still a lot of fun. I'll have to come back in a couple of weeks once school holidays are over to go on the attractions I missed today.
  5. That's what I loved about it! The rough, crazy, out of control, wild ride! Very different to what you get with steel coasters, and that's why I want one here in Aus.
  6. Yeah, Ghostrider is an awesome coaster. One of my favourites El Toro is great as well. The thing is, Dreamworld seems to view Buzzsaw as their 'Big' ride that they get every few years, so do we really expect them to spend the money on a decent coaster (woodie or not) anytime soon?
  7. How much does a decent woodie cost? I think it would fit Dreamworld and the Goldrush area well. Or maybe a Mine Ride/Scooby type coaster. Would love either, especially if they're themed well. Once MW gets Justice League, they'll be quite a well rounded park IMO, so anything could be next! It doesn't necessarily have to be a roller coaster. Log ride, dark ride, woodie would all be welcome. Maybe something in the vein of Disneyland's Indiana Jones? (Less extravagant obviously)
  8. Wait, wait, wait... Movieworld has Dippin Dots?!?!?!? How did I not know about this!? I love those things!
  9. I did both Disney Parks, Universal and Knotts when I was there in '09. Unfortunately I missed out on SFMM, but had already been to a SF park on the east coast (Great Adventure). Disneyland was really great, you should definitely go there. You just have to experience it! Disney's California Adventure was ok, but far behind Disneyland. I don't think it's a 'must do' park. Knotts was very good too, so I recommend that one if you have time. A good mix of thrilling rides, family rides and theming better than Six Flags but worse than Disney and Universal. (also, Ghostrider is my favourite wooden coaster!) Universal was... eh. I actually prefer Movie World to be honest. Sure Jurassic Park and the Mummy coaster are fun rides and the Simpsons simulator is the best simulator ride I've been on, and they do have a few decent shows, but the park just felt... small. And lacking attractions that I was interested in. If you're really into movies and theming, I guess you'd enjoy it, but it was my least favourite of the LA parks. (the Studio Tour was probably the highlight of Universal, followed closely by the Jurassic Park ride) I haven't been to Magic Mountain, but it seems to be coaster heaven. I loved Six Flags Great Adventure, so if it's anything like that (and MM seems to be one of the flagship SF parks), then it'll be awesome. So, definitely go to Disneyland and probably also Six Flags. Knotts is great too, if you can fit it in. Hope you have a great trip!
  10. Yeah. I REALLY loved Ghostrider. The out of control roughness of it, combined with the setting made for an incredibly fun experience. I still loved El Toro though, which is why it's #4 on my list. As for Bizarro, it's definitely a good, solid coaster. But for some reason, it didn't stand out as much to me.
  11. 1. Nitro (SF Great Adventure) 2. Ghost Rider (Knotts) 3. Xcelerator (Knotts) 4. El Toro (SF Great Adventure) 5. Space Mountain (Disneyland) 6. Silver Bullet (Knotts) 7. California Screamin' (California Adventure) 8. Superman Escape (Movieworld) 9. Bizarro (SF Great Adventure) 10. Tied between Scooby and Superman: Ultimate Flight (SF Great Adventure) I really want to visit Florida next time I go to the US...
  12. Lol, besides my typo It was more a joke really, after the 'lockers' discussion Also, wow. I didn't realise that was my first post. I thought I had posted here already
  13. Time for a new thread. "What makes and inversion an inversion?"
