  1. Playing devils advocate here, it might be the *best* place for it. I'm assuming that bit of a shanty down on the old Sea Viper plot will move into this new shed and be removed, leaving that plot plus what's behind the maintenance shed of Leviathan. Pathway could eventually link up from Jet Rescue to the Atlantis pathway next to the new shed.

It's central to all the big rides where it's being built. Seems like a logistical nightmare having to cart stuff up to the front of the park for maintenance to take place.

They could have demolished some Monorail track to fit it in, but they didn't. Is this a good sign for the Monorail eventually returning?

As for needing the shed at all (in any position in the park). Do I remember correctly that they used to send trains over to MW for maintenance? Would they be building this now due to MW not having that capacity anymore being it's getting essentially 4 new roller coasters?

  2. Curious to know if Superman/Batwing/Scooby being down significantly contributed to this conclusion? We left MW early too on our last few visits, mainly due to lines being too long for our liking and rides going down for maintenance unexpectedly.

Is being more-or-less a regular at the park another reason for us to leave early? If there's nothing new and you've done all the experiences before, you might feel like the magic is gone because there is indeed nothing new to experience for the first time.

I kinda felt that way last time we were over in the US. I remember a theme park needing a full day and experiencing all the shops/shows/theming etc, mainly though because I was anxious to get on rides and was trying to delay. Now that I'm over that fear and just want to get on rides, I've found that my day in a park is a little less 'satisfying' because I'm bypassing all the secondary experiences and just heading to the rides queues all day.

  3. Not Nearmap related exactly, but it appears as though Google has newer maps loaded of our Parks (finally!)

MW: DC Rivals is there, AA removed but still a dirtbowl.

DW: No more TRRR/ToT/Log Ride. Steel Taipan there now.

SW: Atlantis shown, Vikings Revenge still there though.

This may be a dumb question - but if it’s for parts availability.. why don’t they just order the stuff earlier?

Might be some parts are only replaced if they are necessary, and they don't fully know what needs replacing until they do the pull-down. I would expect though that by now someone would have a fairly good idea what needs to be replaced on Superman every year, being its been operating for almost 20 years.

If they're really penny pinching at the park, maybe they just don't hold these kinds of items in stock any more?

RE: the longer downtimes, maybe they've been burnt too many times in the past by unknowns and then had to deal with disappointed guests by blowing past their return-to-service dates? Underpromise/Overdeliver etc.

Do they really need to have added so many simulators?

This was the taste left in my mouth after our visit to USC. Felt like everything was a sim. Its interesting though how US/Disney have kind of flipped though with the new line up of attractions with US putting in more coasters and Disney more simulators/self tracked installs.

After reading your post though it seems we missed a couple of attractions, ET, Mummy (was closed at the time I think), Villan Con, Bourne. We conciously skipped Supercharged being it was a yawn fest at USC.

RRR was rough for us too, closed for the morning but opened in the afternoon. I selected Kick Start My Heart - Motley Crue, I think that made up for the roughness ;)

@franky that's a shame about your Busch experience. How was Iron Gwazi? It'd be really interesting to pit it against Zadra, particularly with their respective wave turns and inversions.

Iron Gwazi was the first RMC I'd ridden so I really have nothing to compare it to tbh. The restraints uncomfortable for me so this took away a lot of the experience I think, better than the comfort collars on Ice Breaker/Tigris though. Ops were slow and I remember the grouper being cranky because noone wanted to ride in a middle seat :D

The coaster was fun and intense (a little overhyped for me though, however I was probably a little coastered out by the time I rode, and unwell). Overall I prefered Velocicoaster, after considering the theming/restraints being comfortable etc.

  7. I agree with Guest, you've travelled about 20 hours to get there, might as well make the most of it.

We had 14 days in Orlando in 2022.

1 day for each Disney Park. Even with G+ and Lightening Lanes our days in Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom felt rushed and we didn't really have a chance to absorb the atmosphere. Missed the opening of Guardians by a week :( so maybe that will make Epcot a busier day too?

5 shorter days in USO/IoA due to a ticket promo they had at the time. Could probably have made it work with 1 day each park I think, maybe 2 for IoA due to the long lines for Hagrid's.

1 day at Busch Gardens. We hired a car and drove down to Tampa, the bus times were a bit late to leave and a bit early to return for us. No quick queue, didn't ride every thing; ops were slow and I wasn't feeling well (turns out I was +ve for COVID at the time). Next time I would consider buying quick queue.

1 day at SeaWorld. No quick queue, didn't feel rushed but ops were slow.

If you're heading over that way the Kennedy Space Center was a day well spent. For us it was the day before coming home, but it would make for a bit of a lazy day if you need one.

As for capacity, the trains & ride computer *should* help that immensely.

I just dont see this panning out. There'll be individual lap bars like RR/WWF that'll need to be checked and rechecked before dispatch. There'll be storage boxes or lockers and no more taking loose items on the ride.

Capacity is going to be worse, not better. Every ride that's had an overhaul is like this now. Safety standards have changed.

    I hope I'm wrong.

So if they still have that in place, why are locker's still a requirement then? And why aren't they using two trains during peak periods?

The storage boxes on JR aren't nearly as big as the Motocoasters revolving shelf. It's really only big enough for phones/hats/sunnies etc. For us we needed a locker for our backpack so we just chucked everything in the locker at the same time.

I remember seeing the ride op struggling to slide the cover over and having the fight with bag straps etc.

Queue closing at 5:00, and not leaving till 6:45 that night (despite my roster saying 5:15 finish). Annoying as all hell, but that's part of the job.

Maybe that's a recent change then? We got off Rivals at about 4:45 yesterday and it had the Ride Closed chain across, someone was also manning the entrance to Batwing as we were leaving.

Rivals did go down at about 4 (we were already in the queue) but maintenance attended and it reopened in about 30 mins.

I've gotta say though my experience at Movie world yesterday was vastly improved to some degree. Ride queue times were frustrating and I agree with webslave in that there's still no sense of urgency from ride ops. The park itself however looks better than I remember it from our visit 12 months ago.

Rivals queue has had some mulch and extra fencing installed to help the plants not get picked by bored guests.

Superman has new working screens in the queue, and it felt like the A/C was actually working in the queue too.

We went to like up for West but the queue was at the entry door, so we gave that a miss (we can't stand listening to that 10 sec music on loop)

  11. I know that while I was VQ'ing for a ride, I wasn't buying anything, I was waiting in another ride queue. I wonder if someone has actually ran the numbers on the backend after it's implementation and realised that VQ didn't translate into additional spend in the park.

Village most likely removed it to force people to pay for fast pass so they can get more money and blame it on "guest feedback".

This is most likely the answer.
