Well have they actually found the root cause yet?

This can be answered on February 24th once the findings have been released.

“• The findings required by s.45 (2) of the Coroners Act 2003; namely the identity of the deceased person, when, where and how they died and what caused the death.

    • The circumstances and cause of the fatal incident on the Thunder River Rapids Ride at the Dreamworld Theme Park, which occurred on 25th October 2016.“

Thanks for the handy pick out Alex. That is correct, hotel guests staying at one of Disney's resorts can get one of the plain coloured bands for free (even if staying just for 1 night).

In Ops situation, as she is staying at the B Hotel (which is not owned by Disney), you won't get a complimentary magic band. Her hotel however is eligible for extra magic hours (can enjoy extra park hours before/after opening hours on specified days). :)

They said both Port Orleans Riverside and a moderate or deluxe resort as well, with the B resort being in between those two stays.

    Disney Magic Band

Disney sells at their entry points and within their marks magic bands, which is essentially and watch looking wristband with an RFID chip in it. It allows you to link your entry ticket to it, so you don't need to carry around your paper ticket.

Essentially you can use it to easily scan entry into the park, enter the fast pass queues of rides, and easily link photos taken by Disney crew to your account.

For a lot of rides, your ride photo will automatically be added to your account also without having to do anything (as the RFID sensor on the ride picks up your magic band when taking your ride photo). This was a really cool and handy feature!

Also if you are staying at a Disney Property, you can use the magic band to add purchases at the parks onto your room account (rather than having to use cash/card).

At around USD$15 I would definitely recommend getting one for each person, even just for the conveience of not having to take the paper ticket in/out of pocket and worrying about loosing it.

TIP: At the gate they only sell several plain colours of the magic bands (Ie: grey, yellow, blue, green ect). If you want more cooler designs, purchase one once you enter the park at one of the gift stores around the park.

Just to clarify this part, Magicbands are supplied for free if you stay at a Disney Resort. They’re just a basic colour that you can choose on your reservation, and you can then purchase one with a design on it or customize one.

The Facebook reviews are full of upset visitors who were in a group of 3 but were turned away from these slides. There aren’t enough single riders around to accomodate groups of 3.

These slides also have the standard 320kg cloverleaf weight maximum so a couple that weighs 100kg each would have a very embarrassingly difficult time finding 2 others that are light enough to ride with. Every group is herded onto a scale with a red or green light before they are allowed up the staircase.

If the rule change was because of capacity reasons, they have failed because of the amount of time wasting and fussing that occurs at the entrance to form the necessary groups. The supervisor on duty claimed the change was the result of safety assessments that were conducted, but I find it odd that THREE slides changed (safety issues on 3 slides???), and the three less busy cloverleaf slides didn’t change.

I remembered seeing a person post on their page asking about the rule change, and I went back to find their response which according to them is a change in manufacturers guidelines

Did you ride the orange side of Mission Space? Is too crazy?

Ohh, this is my specific area of expertise. I worked that ride back in 2016. So the orange side will have you feel 2.5g’s when it’s spinning at its maximum speed of about 60km/h. It does 3 spins like this lasting around 30 seconds each, total ride time is around 4min 20sec. It is also a pretty enclosed space inside the capsule, so not recommended if you have claustrophobia (if you do and want to try it, let the cast member know and they can close the capsule for a few seconds and then re-open it to check if you’re okay with how enclosed it is).

With all that said, it’s a great ride experience and really thrilling. The best way to avoid motion sickness on the ride is to always keep looking straight ahead at the screen.

So Smuggler's run is Mission Space with a Star wars theme?

Pretty much sounds like it, except with a result that changes based on guest participation whereas Mission space is just "computer override" -> "congratulations, you made it to mars" if you don't push your button on time. Which does make me wonder what happens in the case of not having a full "crew" for your ride on smugglers run.

Many parks have advertised things before they open

I guess the problem here is that the billboard doesn't say "coming/opening soon" or "now open", so people who see the advertisement would most likely assume that they're advertising an open attraction.

Ah see of it's about gaming the system that's fine. Does make me hate fastpass+ that little bit more though

Yeah, its a bit about gaming the system and that most of the tier 2 rides at EPCOT will 90% of the time be walk on's. Mission: SPACE is a weird one because the More Intense side can get multiple delays in rapid succession from people vomiting which is why a fastpass for it can be handy if there is a downtime. I'm not entirely a fan of the tiered system but I can understand why it is needed so that everyone has the chance to book a fastpass for the more popular attractions.

In that classic 'I agree with 99% of what you say but I'm going to talk about the 1% I disagree with' style that the internet it known for:

Fastpass for Spaceship Earth? Don't go on it first thing in the morning. There saved you a fastpass. Also Frozen is an average Flume ride? Really? I like the movie fine enough but holy crap that thing looks great. The tech and execution of that ride are next level. Obviously you know if a ride based off Frozen will appeal to you or not but dismissing it as 'An average Flume ride' is a mistake.

With the way EPCOT works their tiered fastpasses, Spaceship Earth is basically a burn card and why you'll see it in my list. The only other rides you have in the tier 2 passes are Mission: SPACE (my other choice), living with the land, Nemo, Pixar short films, figment and turtle talk.

  10. My choices for fastpass selection

MK: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain

EPCOT: Test Track, Mission: SPACE, Spaceship Earth

HS: Slinky Dog Dash (newly opened), Rock n Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror

AK: Flight of Passage, Kilaminjaro Safari, Expedition Everest

I was a Cast Member at Mission: SPACE back in 2016 so if you have any questions about the parks I can try and do my best to answer them.

It is most likely that Dreamworld is using that as the gate into the construction site, where as Disney put up a nice fence for guest to see and the access points would be backstage but look very similar.

It's pretty much this. I remember seeing construction zones backstage for the Frozen Ever After ride at EPCOT when I worked there. I didn't see what signs they had up exactly because I never had to go past that area (I could see them from the area I had to walk through to get to my break room), but I do recall seeing some signs on the fence that was at the entrance to the construction zone. All the access points will be from some backstage area.

  12. I worked there for a year last year in EPCOT at Mission: Space, so I can definitely help you out with WDW.

At EPCOT you'll find that Soarin', Test Track and Frozen all generally have rather long wait times, and I'm pretty sure from memory that they're all in the same Category for Fast Pass (there's two categories, and you get to pick one from the first and two for the second). If you enjoy the more thrilling rides, then Test Track would be the best choice. Mission: Space is mostly a walk on, depending on season and popularity during the day. I highly recommend seeing Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at night, it's their fireworks show. You can see it from anywhere around world showcase as it is all done over the lagoon. Don't worry about a fastpass for that, it just gets you into a reserved area. There's a really good spot near the Germany Pavilion boat ramp just behind a glass shop stand, it has a really good view of all the fireworks and usually not many people there.

MK I suggest pretty much everything, I personally like doing the Three Mountains (Splash, Space and Big Thunder). I haven't seen the new fireworks show in person since they changed it at the start of this year, but I did watch it online and it is amazing. Same with the projection show that is 15 minutes before the fireworks. Pirates of the Caribbean is also a good ride, and also the Jungle Cruise if you get a good Skipper.

HS is undergoing a huge facelift at the moment and has quite a small amount of rides operating at the moment. I only ever really went on Star Tours, Tower of Terror, Toy Story and Rock n Rollercoaster. Great Movie Ride got shut down :( and is being replaced with a Micky and Minnie ride, but unsure of an estimated opening date on that. Fantasmic is their nightime show there, and it is really cool. A good way to finish off the day.

AK You'll definitely want to book a fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safari's, that line can get long very quickly and delays can occur from animals deciding to plonk themselves in front of the vehicles and not move. Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids (if it's warm enough) are good. There's a nighttime show there that I haven't seen but heard mixed reviews about.

If you have any specific questions, let me know and I'll try my best to answer them.

  13. I have to admit, I'm having fun in the comment section of the news articles. It sucks that they're still posting these articles, but it's a chance to try and show people the other side of the story when they say that the park or ride should be shut down because of the issue at hand.

  14. Sure!

Anyways I'm going do a full review of The Evil Within Maze at EB Games Expo

I went in the maze with a group of five and you didn't have to do the hands on shoulders

The maze was just brick walls and some cobwebs attached to the tent's celling

Only had two actors they had The Keeper and The Butcher no one else

Maze lasted for 90 seconds and if you had run in the maze (which I didn't) you would be in there for 20 seconds

It was a basic maze I didn't think the maze was going amazing like the one at Fright Nights but it would be better than watching women talking to you in The Ripper! :P

Wait, you went in with a group of 5 at EB Expo? I tried that and we were told it was 4 max. I was at the back of the group and got chased by the keeper. That thing makes you run when he charges you from his cage with his hammer (didn't scare me, but definitely made me run :P ). It was fun for a 90 second version.

  15. This one is being developed by Pipeline Software, not Frontier developments like previous titles. Atari are still the publishers.

If this is pay-to-win I propose we all heard over to Atari and kill everyone.

Ah who am I kidding, we'll all just get uncle torrence to buy it for us.

No micro transactions in this one like there are in RCT4 Mobile.
