  1. Funny you mention that, as they've changed it to start maintenance 4 days before the school holidays.
  2. This is the only poll so far where 'Neither' would probably have a good chance of winning.
  3. @franky He literally asked to be corrected if he was wrong.
  4. TBH I've always observed Superman's loading as pretty quick. It's the limitations of the ride system and a long ride time more that slows things down rather than a procedural thing. The general point of letting guests see the procedure before they ride is correct though.
  5. I don't get why saying 'I'd have preferred if Dreamland and ABC Kids land were separate lands instead of being mixed together' is something worth arguing against. Originally, I thought that's exactly what they were doing. I don't really care they're not, (tbh I don't care about the project as a whole), but saying you'd prefer it a different way than what they're doing doesn't seem an unreasonable position to me.
  6. Exciting to see the cultural cringe movement has moved on to coasters
  7. Condolences appreciated. Though it does make me sad to know this is something we're doing as a nation that is unique to us.
  8. I mean you know full well what I mean, so I don't have to respond to this do I?
  9. It is. You said a thing. You are wrong. Discussion is over.
  10. If a ride has any chance of not opening, it should. Now be quiet.
  11. I think the element that annoys me most about it is the Village parks at least are pretty aggressive about putting closures on the website even if it's only for a day. DW might well be like this too but I don't follow their maintenance page, and people don't seem as focused on what they do day to day. The culture seems to be 'If there's any doubt, list it as closed, we don't want to over promise and under deliver'. Far more often than not, those rides reopen, but they're being conservative so they dont dissapoint their guests, which is totally the best way to do it. When people repost it on here, often with no follow up it creates a negative perception for the parks, and creates a disincentive for the park to do the right thing by the normal guest. I think the conservative attitude is the way to go, and I think reposting that stuff here creates a perception which is untrue and harmful. Also as noted earlier, being happy to have a ride closed rather than being unsafe is obviously not a bad thing either.
  12. I was going to say 'So are mullets and weird creepy moustaches' then I remembered they aren't coming back in, they ARE in fashion and I became sad.
  13. I mean in his defence, his suggestion was that DW needed something weird rather than something bog standard. TBH I'm out of the loop on the flat ride scene, I thought the one suggested WAS bog standard when I first saw it. Again I don't think it's about attracting more people, but more about the guests that are there not feeling like the place has been gutted.
  14. Speaking of which, Vortex opened around Midday, and Levithian has been open all day, leaving Trident the only ride unexpectedly down. Posts about random spurts of downtime are trash.
  15. Since we're doing this random observations; I HATED Buzzsaw as a name/theme. It was too modern a theme/tool for Gold Rush Country, and it doesn't the ride doesn't invoke a buzzsaw even in any kind of abstract way. Zero out of ten. Project Zero's presentation is miles above Buzzsaw. It's still a whatever ride, but it's much better in the context of Gumbuya than it ever was at DW. Still, GL all the way.
  16. It's based off of projected attendance. I don't know what the threshold is these days, or if they may change it based off of capacity available, but I would expect that no days in Feb would have the kind of attendance that normally warrents a second train. I've also not kept up with the train maintenance, so don't quote me on this, but it's quite plausible that a train rebuild may already be underway. It takes longer than you may think to redo a train, and the goal tends to be to have both trains and all thrill rides available for September school holidays, Fright Nights, White Christmas, Christmas holidays. Hence why you get a few thrill rides down now in the quietest months of the year, West and something else in Winter, and Scooby in November between the two night events to have the appropriate rides working for the various peaks. The issues arise when stuff takes longer than expected or something else goes down, which sucks, but not much you can really do.
  17. Yeah the key isn't that it's cruel because if it was it simply wouldn't be there. If the dolphins reacted negatively to it it would be gone. The point is it's not a good look.
  18. While I agree with this, I think for a park that has traditionally traded off the quantity of rides it has, letting the count drop so low was a mistake. One good flat to replace Wipeout while they were in the process of 'Rightsizing' wouldn't have been the worst thing IMHO.
  19. If I owned a park in 2019, I totally would have built a tourbillon, not because it's a good ride, but because visually from off ride it's absolutelystunning. I'd also have a lemon of a ride in my park that I wouldn't know what to do with at this point. As for the wave swinger at DW, TBH I think it's alright. The queue will presumably be around the back of it, there's lots of seating and outlets nearby, I think it'll be a winner. The thing is, and I'll keep saying this, it needs to be really properly charming af. Crowd flow won't matter, but you have to walk into the park and go 'Wow this place looks amazing'.
  20. Theme parks are fun because they generate stats! Again, Lev's downtime is mostly in the morning, and once it's open, it tends to stay open for the day. It's had 1 day of downtime since December, and except for 1 or 2 days, has cycled the queue at the end of the day. It's about as reliable as other rides in the park, and if you went to SW with the purpose of riding, then you got to.
  21. Stats are fun, but not gospel. Much like the closures on the website, they skew towards making things seem worse than they are to avoid dissapointment for guests. I'd caution against taking it too literally, and punishing them too much because of it. However the headlines are right; Lev has similar reliability to other rides in the park, no one likes Vortex, and Trident sucks. A lot is made of Leviathan since its the ride we care about. It does tend to open late, but far more often then not when it's open, it stays open. If you went to SW with the intent to ride Leviathan and it was important to you, there is one day you wouldn't have been able to, and 1 or 2 days where you could easily have been unlucky with timing and missed it, but for the rest you would have had no worries getting a ride. I had been very interested in what would happen with Vortex when the rest of NA opened, and it seems; not much. It's not really captured much interest with the public. I think it's both the wrong ride for that location, and it's in the wrong park altogether. Vortex's downtime isn't entirely mechanical; I think using it as a replacement for Doomsday at MW or sending it to WnW wouldn't be the worst thing. 140cm is too high a height restriction for a filler ride at SW, the demand just isn't there. Even with a better cycle I can't see it doing that well. It's part of why I don't think Surfrider is the right ride for the park, even though I do concede Surfrider would probably perform better. I think Vortex's plot would be better occupied by a mid size Ferris wheel, be a much better 'look' with dolphin pools nearby than a high impact thrill ride. Trident I think actually looks better with the stats that what the reality is; I dont think @Brad2912's story is uncommon. I've never been much of a fan of SBF, but I think Golden Horse has them beat at this point. Anything above the smallest kiddie ride and they seem out of their depth. Interesting that it has a fairly hefty bit of downtime planned. Hopefully it can come back being at least a little bit reliable. With how much people will complain about anything, it's strange to me it's taken this long to notice Trident.
  22. So no one did what I told them to do a few days ago? It was buccaneer Bay in 1994 at least.
