  1. Had my first rides on Sky Voyager in July this year and thought it was a great experience. It felt fully immersive and video quality seemed sharp to me, but I have no riding history to compare it to. On one of the rides, we were just about to enter the waterfall when the ride stopped and the lights came on. Turns out someone was using their phone to record the ride. After attendants came over and told them to delete the footage off their phone, the ride was reset and we got to go again. Basically 2 cycles in one.. So there's a trick if you want extra time in Sky Voyager (of course I don't actually recommend)
  2. Steel Taipan has 2nd train back running empty today. According to ride operator, it just came back from maintenance and they need to do 50 empty test cycles before allowing guests on.
  3. Yes both rides were running 2 trains. I think Rivals was having an issue with one of the harnesses on one of the trains. We still had a great time overall.. looking forward to the next trip when the next phase of rides are up and running.
  4. First time we have travelled to the Gold Coast parks since 2017. We have had a horror run of roller coaster breakdowns. We were at Seaworld yesterday in the loading gates of Leviathan when the ride broke down. The operators allowed us to us their names to get back on later in the day through the fast track queue. At movieworld this morning we went straight to Superman, which was delayed in morning testing due to the press event for the announcement of the new Flash ride. Opening was delayed and once up and going, we were next to go through to the loading gates and the ride broke down. Now we are currently at DC Rivals and there is an issue with ride while we are on the ramp to get on the ride. Not sure whether they will get people on the ride again today or not. Been a horror couple of days for us with the parks coasters. Overall, Dreamworld was quite good, mid sized queues with a max of about 30mins wait. Seaworld was pretty good, Leviathan was the only ride that had a queue of any length. All other rides were 1 or 2 cycle wait. It was a very wet day. Monday and today at Movieworld have been horrendous for wait times. Considered fast pass, but at 150 bucks for 1 ride only on each ride is far too steep. Virtual queue was full the entire day, although we did use it once for Justice League. Wild West was a 2 hour wait. Superman was an hour and a half wait when they got it operating again.
  5. There used to be a toboggan ride at Gumbuya Park as well. Interesting it was actually a concrete channel (which was quite shallow), rather than a steel channel that most of the other examples feature. i actually ended up with a concrete burn on my wrist last time I rode it:
  6. Something similar happened to my sister a long time ago at Seaworld when they used to have the water slides. The injury was similar, but certainly wasn't bleeding everywhere as described in the original article and not once did my parents even mention anything about suing Seaworld for compensation. It was accepted that it was part of the risk of riding a water slide and complete accident. Not sure the same safety procedures and riding instructions were in place at the time (it was too long ago to remember).
  7. Actually, the free upgrade doesn't include the movie channels or sports channels (not that there is much live sport to watch at the moment), at least in my case, as we had only subscribed to the drama package.
  8. Went to Funfields today. The park was extremely quiet (top temp was 19 deg combined with COVID-19 hysteria). Every attraction was walk on and most of the time we were allowed to stay on the ride for multiple cycles. Even got 5 or 6 runs on the toboggan without having to use the brake at all. Generally you encounter a slow kart in front of you. The Tiki boats are normally a 3 minute cycle. We were on them for at least 20 minutes without anyone else queueing for the ride. The only ride we had to wait for was the go karts. Although we only had to wait 2 cycles. I took some photos of the new rides and attractions previously requested in this thread: Some attractions have received updates to their theming as well: Photos were just taken on my phone, so apologies if quality isn't great
  9. Definitely not always summer in Melbourne, i can assure you!! It was 13 degrees here a couple of days ago!!
  10. Instead of replacing the current Giant Drop gondolas, what if you kept them and added a forward tipping gondola to the side if the tower replacing the TOT track? You would get a Falcons Fury style experience and that way guests have a choice of how thrilling they want their drop experience
  11. https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/rollercoaster-plunges-and-kills-two-at-theme-park/news-story/c247be2a260c0545044b4f8bc7301d5b Details in the article. Two people lost their lives and others injured on a coaster in a Mexico. The park is under investigation for negligent homocide.
  12. How does the queue logistics work with 6 slides on the one tower? I assume there is only 1 staircase to the top of the tower? So is it just a single queue that forms and it is pot luck which slide you get to ride when you reach your turn, where they point you to the first available slide? If you want to wait for a specific slide, but multiple people are already waiting for the same slide and multiple people already waiting on each of the other slides, the queue could could get very messy. Or are there mini queues at the the top of the tower assigned to each slide, that 4 or 5 people could wait in and you just join that back of the mini queue when directed for the slide you wish to ride? And you just let people past who want to ride other slides.
  13. I was joking in reference to the clear safety barriers surrounding the centre, because I know if I rode that, they would be getting a fair splattering for sure
  14. There are ample vomit guards in the centre of the attraction for good reason.. haha
  15. Wonder how long it will take to deem the chairs too risky of kids standing on them and putting a cage over them to prevent an accident. As a double bonus though, the cage would act as a secondary shade solution for maximum shade effect!
  16. The Grim Reaper? (haven't seen much of him since the 1980's AIDS campaign ads!!)
  17. It was just the similarity that both of them were/are water based attractions with Thunder in their title and poth in popular and well known parks., For some reason it's the first thing I thought when I read the title of the show. I went overboard in saying comparisons could be drawn if something were to happen and probably over stated that part of my post way too far to be honest. Should have just left it as a personal observation 🤫
  18. Did anyone else see the "Thunder Lake" name as being a little too close to "Thunder River"? I know it's a show and not a ride, but I couldn't help but think with a stunt show, if something goes wrong, there would be comparisons to the DW incident.
  19. The buggies would have probably been an attraction better suited to Paradise Country rather than WnW.
  20. Also Geelong to Lakes Entrance is the best part of 5.5 hours drive.. fair hike and really ambitious to squeeze 2 events in on that day with a 3 hour trip back to Gumbuya World the next day.. Think you will sleep well on the plane after that whirlwind trip. You could knock nearly an hour off the trip by going to Fun Fields instead of Adventure Park but still a pretty crazy day
  21. Thanks AlexB. I have never had to hire the lockers, so was just curious what the procedure was to retrieve your items.
