Does copyright law in australia require you to maintain your ownership of it? As in, you have to actively protect the use of the copyright or it sets a precedent and i think ownership can be challenged under the guise of the ownership has been abandoned (if its not being challenged)?

No. Copyright remains including Prior Use rights. Only trademarks, patents etc require ongoing fees to maintain ownership within lodged Trademark Classes. Unless these guys have written rights from Dreamworld to sell their merch alongside key words like "Dreamworld" "Wipeout" etc it would only cost a few hundred bucks for Dreamworld to send a Cease & Desist letter to shut it down. No small operator will ignore or even consider fighting a Cease & Desist letter and a clear case of copyright infringement.

Thanks for the clarification here Paula- it really did not seem that Funfields was the longer unit! Is this longer than the Octo 8 racers at WWW, or the Racers at Wet 'N Wild Sydney, do you know?

Hi Jobe, Correction the Kraken Racer at Funfields is 113m long. ProSlide did a case study stating 113m.
The Octo at WWW is 120m long (states around 50kms/hr). Not sure about the H2Go Racer; looks like a longer ride duration and a bit slow but no idea on length.

My next installment of our Melbourne trip will see non theme park related attractions added in together to give an overview of some of the other points of interest that you can experience whilst in the fair Victorian capital.

Maybe include Kryal Castle just outside Ballarat; a lovely little medieval themed park. And Fairy Park in Anakie. Both with rich history and quite unique.

hell the racers at Adventure Park in the SAME state were far longer.

Funfields' Kraken Racer is estimated between 20-29m longer than the Aqua Racer. Estimate 85m for Aqua Racer (although they state 80+m) & 109m for Kraken. Kraken Racer is also a lot faster with estimated speeds of 50-60kms depending on rider. Aqua Racer around 40kms.

    ^Precisely.

As we saw with the Kraken construction (and naturally one can assume the alpine slide also) the available land they have to the rear of the park seems to have quite a slope to it. The gokart track would be relatively flat, and its the best bet in terms of wavepool space without significant earth levelling.

Keep the slopes for slides to use the natural elevations... similar to Jamberoo (Jamberoo's wavepool was also built on about the flattest section of land in the park)

From the entrance, the land immediately begins to elevate getting increasingly steeper as you walk towards the Kraken & Gravity Wave. Great hill for great slides.

Yeah, I agree @AlexB but you would just think out of courtesy they would also thank Illawarra residents via their local newspapers too. (I know they did thank them via social media and financially, it does save on marketing costs not doing an extra newspaper advertisement given it's their most loyal audience. However, that could be a sign they are starting to take their local visitors for granted)

Jamberoo may have sent out a 'Thank You' email to their database.

Eh have you seen the type of travel I do? :)

In all seriousness, my plan is:

    - Fri: Arrive (late)
    - Sat: Luna Park Sydney, Husky Carnival
    - Sun: Relocate to Longreach
    - Mon: Qantas Museum, Outback Dinner & Live Show
    - Tue: Stockman Museum, relocate to Surfers
    - Wed: Warner Bros (all day)
    - Thu: Aussie World, Dreamworld
    - Fri: Sea World, Wet'n'Wild, relocate to Melbourne.
    - Sat: Adventure Park Geelong, (optional) Luna Park Melbourne, Lakes Entrance Carnival
    - Sun: Gumbuya World, evening flight to Singapore.

This is actually quite relaxed by my standards...

You're not going to Funfields!!! *shakes head*

  8. Funfields has had a 'CHAT' function for almost 2 years HAHAHAHA

... and Movie Worlds website isn't even responsive so right now they'll be updating 2 websites to cover mobiles and tablets & desktops. The navigation is also very poor, experience poor, design poor, but overall it's a MONSTER of a job to re-design & re-build. So many things could go wrong especially with all the e-commerce sections, seo and migration issues. Leading up to summer would be a big risk to launch a new site. I imagine they would stage out a re-design and development in the shoulder period.

These attractions are planned a good 18 months in advance so no one knows what the other is doing.  Gumbuya will be the ones who get hit most I think, (for a number of reasons). Can't wait to see the team at FF and the new attractions on the 21st. You guys all know how much of a fan I am of FF!

By the way, the Marketing is being done by Biscuit. I never used them simply because they are Melbourne based but I think you would all agree, they come up with some cool stuff!

Thanks for the mention Mark :) see you at the FF Opening on the 21st?

  10. Really poor map. My husband and I have done a lot of design work with parks in Victoria over the last 12 years, designing 3 different park maps over that time. They're not easy to create but this one doesn't communicate the park clearly or show off the rides very well. It looks like 'shed city'.
