  1. Shaded seating areas are clearly Dreamworlds forte
  2. Somehow revive the goldrush theme, or at least try and tie it in with Buzzsaw type theming. Or Name it Thunder Train and put it on the old TRR site XD
  3. I'm hoping Leviathan is going to be a solid Woody and then that will likely be my number 2 in Aus, followed by DW Coaster, but who knows really.
  4. Has anything happened demolishing wise of TOT yet? Anyone been to the park recently?
  5. I think a full week is required for WDW unless you want to kys and do rope drop to fireworks. Especially with the new additions this year, ROTR, M&MRR, and Remys, you'll want one day for each park, plus a second day at MK and then another half at the others. In response to the size question, the parks themselves are a good two or three times the size of our GC parks and the WDW property itself is absolutely enormous, but every day I split my days up and do a morning at a park, get the transportation back to resort around midday for a nap and then head back out to the parks for the evening. Get there early and stay late to make the most of the day and avoid crowds. I can't commend the Disney transportation enough, the busses are so easy and generally quite comfortable (sans the crowded ride home after fireworks), the drivers will occasionally have fun with the guests and sing songs or do trivia etc on the trips to the park. The longest bus journey is only 25 minutes or so from one end of the property to MK, or if you're at POP then the longest will be to AK which is about 20-25 max. Disney makes it really easy now, you can see when the next bus is arriving at your resort on the MDE app, so you don't have to wait outside, just check the app from your room and then plan accordingly to get to the bus, plus Skyliner will make journeys to Epcot and HWS very easy for you with a stroller, won't even need to pack it up like on the busses. New tiers at HWS are great, makes doing HWS possible in 1 or 1.5 days now. General FP tip, book your first one for about an hour after park opening and the consecutive hours after that, like 10, 11 and 12. You don't need FP for anything in the first hour of opening generally, and it means you can book more for your evening after you are finished up with your FP at 12pm. But yeah, just plan your fast passes and then wing the rest is my recommendation when you're in the parks you'll see stuff you want to do and just spontaneously jump on etc if the lines are short. Keep refreshing MDE if you're looking for a particular FP on the day, or go into modifying on your current ones and see if there are better options. As a single rider in September, I don't think I ever waited more than 20 or so minutes for anything my whole trip because I refreshed the app and got the day of FP for pretty much everything after I had used my booked ones. DLR, probably can be done in 3 days as I did in Sep, if you're doing WDW first, a lot of DLR will feel the same and I felt I only needed one day in DL to be happy and the two in DCA, I would definitely recommend a park hopper though so you can walk next door if you get bored, especially if you plan on getting MaxPass to take full advantage of booking across either park.
  6. I think its a good system if you get lucky, but seeing people who started lining up in the early hours of the morn at DL to then get Groups for the evening or missing out altogether due to the lottery is pretty sad. I think it would make more sense if they just let you join as soon as your whole party enters the park, so lining up early can guarantee you an early spot if you only have one day there for example. But virtual queues is pretty awesome, not having to wait in a 4 hour standby sounds awesome.
  7. I just want a Slidewheel, is that too much to ask.
  8. Taylor sometimes has some whack opinions I feel, Shaun from TPWW always gives it solid reviews who I trust a lot more.
  9. Yep I am still going, booked my Universal area accommodation today so the excitement is real again. I did a mega trip last year to both WDW and DLR, which was great but not enough new stuff to bring me back to DLR in 2020, so it's just 3 weeks in Orlando for me this time. My dates are 16th Sep to 7th Oct this year, 2 weeks at All Stars then a week at Enclave suites for HHN, Universal, Seaworld and Busch Gardens (taking the shuttle from SW).
  10. I loved it, have seen all the episodes at least two or three times each. The first episode got me all emotional in the feels. Great to see all the old restored footage!
  11. Scrap and use the space for something new, no one likes Vekoma SLC's right? So much space there they could open up, that whole courtyard where you exit is the biggest waste of space I've seen.
  12. Hey Dreamworld, if you're getting rid of the skull, ill take it off your hands! I would love to see them keep the skull somewhere as a memento.
  13. Okay 'certain' may have been too strong a word, but considering the theme, and detail put into that car I would say 'Probable' is pretty fair.
  14. I mean you're not wrong, but Leviathan is the only project the Gravity Group currently have announced. So I think we can be pretty certain they wouldn't have designed the zero car just for IAAPA, and not deliver it for a project. Edit: only project AFAIK
  15. Wow they tried really hard with that zero car, but I'm not loving it. Surely it's ours right considering the theme. I saw it on Shauns FB and instantly thought Leviathan. Also, I can't believe they are still expecting a December opening for Vortex, definitely trying to get those annual pass sales with holidays right around the corner.
  16. Where is Jaws on the Dive in movies lineup! The meg is trash.
  17. Is trident going to be a new sky flyer build, or just making the current one more permanent?
  18. Okay maybe great operation was too much of a compliment, I would say great operations in comparison to DW imo. But none of our operations is anything near what you would get at many parks overseas, even Six Flags make our parks look bad.
  19. The short answer is no. Even if Intamin still made the model, there are much better attractions that could occupy the space. I'm sure most people, as well as the general public, would get much more excitement (and ticket sales) from a new experience as opposed to the same thing we've been going on for 20 years.
  20. I think a small detail that Dreamworld needs to work on is operations. After all these extra safety precautions have been put in place, ops have really taken a hit in my opinion. Staff are always very friendly at DW though. Village seems to be the opposite, great operations but pretty average staff interactions. Parks should really be getting on to in park WIFI as well, it's 2019! Also, apps should show ride waits as well, can't believe the parks haven't taken advantage of modern technology in everyone's pockets yet.
  21. I don't imagine the vertical track will be removed until GD's next big maintenance period. Tower definitely needs some TLC but I doubt it will get it. I wouldn't be surprised if the vertical track just stays there forever.
  22. I imagine it was for the construction of Reptar coaster, 2001 seems around the time it moved and Reptar opened 2002. Edit: thinking about this made me remember avalanche that I had completely forgotten, man that was a fun ride. From memory, the skull would have sat just to the left of SpongeBob on the wall over there.
  23. Oh awesome timing, you will be going pretty much the same time as me next year which is great. Should be pretty quiet, and you’ll get to ride the 3 new ones being Mickeys Runaway Railway, Rise of Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouile Adventure (although they’ll all be new to you since it’s your first time!) You’ll also be there around Halloween Horror Nights time at universal which I highly recommend if you’re into that sort of thing. I did regrettably ride Orange Mission space. I had booked a fastpass for it, and when it came time to ride I just so happened to be prettty drunk from walking around food and wine, so my inebriated self ignored the countless warnings they give that it is an intense ride. As soon as I got sat down my eyes started watering and was a very uncomfortable experience, thankfully I managed to avoid a protein spill though. I hated it and won’t be doing orange again (but I am not great with motion sickness). I would suggest trying green and if you can handle the screen being that close and the confined space then maybe give orange a go. Yeah the single rider lines can be useful but definitely need to check out the normal lines first, I did Smugglers run once normally then single rider from there out and it was generally a walk on from single rider. I ate mostly quick service and a couple of table service meals and on average I think I was about 110$aud a day, some days more when I had table service and other less when it was just service. That average includes snacks and beers as well. Honestly I didn’t really keep track because my card was linked to my magic band so I just tapped my magic band Willy nilly and bought alll the things. I wouldn’t stress too much about tipping. Anywhere it is expected to tip at Disney there will be a little tip section at the bottom of the receipt with a suggested tip of 18% that it has calculated for you. But you can write in any amount. I would generally just do 15%. The only places I tipped in Disney were; Magical Express ($1 per bag), Table service meals, and in Ogas cantina. You should also tip Mousekeeping ($1 pp per day) if you don’t choose to opt out of housekeeping. And also bell services (1$ per bag they handle), but I just grabbed my bags myself so I avoided that too. Universal it will be very clear when you are expected to tip, as I mentioned above, when you sign on the eftpos machines it will pop up with an option to tip 15% or 18% that you have to press. I only experienced that when I bought beer, other times at universal I just ate at quick service. I stayed at All Star Sports at Disney and loved it, a bit dated but the theming was great and they had some great sweet treats in their food court, the all stars are known for their cupcakes. It is definitely more crowded than the Moderate and Deluxe will be for you. Then at universal I stayed off property just on I-drive which was walking distance to city walk.
  24. I just did a trip back in September and had a great time, I feel like I became an expert after how much research I did. I would have recommended doing Disney first so you can take advantage of the free magical express from airport to the resort which is a magical way to start your trip. But on the other hand, when I did Disney first and then went to Universal, I found I didn’t enjoy Universal that much because Disney do everything so much better. Florida is very hot and humid most year round, so I would suggest planning your days in chunks, so you go out to one park early in the morning, then go back to the resort using the free bus service (or monorail or skyliner if your staying at one of those resorts), and have a chill at the resort until mid afternoon where you go to a different park. Doing rope drop to fireworks will burn you out very quickly so definitely try to split your days up. You should choose your fast passes ASAP (60days out for resort guests, they open up at 9pm AEST from memory), schedule the big ticket attractions that will have long standby queues if they are available (ie all the mountains, Peter Pan and Seven Dwarves at Magic Kingdom). Try and select your fastpasses for an hour or so after the park opens because earlier than that the rides will have short standby waits anyway because most people don’t arrive at rope drop. Then the next fastpass for an hour after that and so on, this means that on the day you’re there once you have used your three FP you can select more using My Disney Experience app, it also means that if you are splitting the day up in chunks like I mentioned that it will be midday when you finish your first 3 FP and then you can probably snag something good for when you plan to return later in the afternoon. A note on MDE, keep refreshing the app because often things will not show at first and then possibly pop up after a couple of refreshes. I used 15 fast passes on some days using this method (I was on my own in September though so there was a lot of FP selections) Definitely book your table dining ASAP if you haven’t already, you can do so 180 days out free of charge ($10usd if you don’t cancel 24 hours before though if you change plans). Use a crowd calendar to find out the quietest days for each park to start planning where you want to go on each day. Rule of thumb is the park with extra magic hours will be busier than normal - so take advantage of the extra magic hours and then plan to hop somewhere else once the park gets busy. The day after a park had EMH it should be slightly less busy too. Im assuming that 14day ticket comes with memory maker included? Take advantage of it, stop at heaps of photo pass spots (there are photographers all over the park). The photos are incredible, my 8 days at WDW I came away with 200+ photos taken by photo pass photographers and on ride photos. There are some queues you need to wait in at least once (without fastpass). Flight of Passage, Big Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarves, Peter Pan, Smugglers Run, Expedition Everest and Pirates are all so detailed in the line that they are must do experiences in themselves. (I’m probably forgetting a few here too) Take some time to explore resorts! It sounds like you’re going to get a mix of resorts anyway, but there are some great activities to do at each resort. I had planned so much of my days out before I went and found that my days became a lot more spontaneous when I arrived, so don’t stress about planning every minute. Take advantage of the free transport on Disney property, it makes life easy. On the nights you stay until park close, I would suggest having a wander around the parks and let them empty out a lot, otherwise you’ll be waiting in decently long lines for busses as everyone leaves. I could go on forever about Disney tips, I’m going again next September and already planning and thinking about what I want to do next time. Tips for universal, don’t buy express passes until the day of because you might not need them if the park is quiet. Hagrids wait times was always inflated whenever I rode, I did it in about 30 minutes using single rider the first time, and about 70 minutes the second time when single rider was closed (posted 90mins). If you are any bit prone to motion sickness, take motion sickness tablets with you to universal 80% of the rides are screen based and can really mess you up if you’re prone to sickness. Lastly, skip fast and furious, it’s not worth your time, it’s garbage. Feel free to reply with any specific questions, I love talking Disney.
  25. That was the ride ops response to them too, bit silly. Pretty sure one of the lady’s reasoning was that she also had a two year old that she had to take care of the other days. I think she was just whinging to the ride op as if she had any control over it opening lol.
